  1. On the news this evening, BMW are recalling 10,000 cars in the UK due to an electrical fault. Perhaps they can make the indicators work while they're at it.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. On the news this evening that BMW are recalling several thousand cars in the UK. The problem is electrical, perhaps they are going to fit working indicators? Club night tonight so I'll be back later.
  3. The Piccadilly stock is due for replacement in the next few years. This stock has extra luggage capacity for working to Heathrow which makes it even more suitable for the island line.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A tad cooler this morning but still a bit muggy but no sign of any rain. I've had the same problem with Paypal so I just dumped it in my spam folder with all the other e-mails from Nigeria telling me I've come in to a fortune. Nothing much else to report, so C & C's to all ER's under the weather, be back later.
  5. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Spent the afternoon searching for my birth certificate without success, largely due to my finding other documents and stopping to examine them. Amongst the papers which were all pertaining to my parents I discovered a life assurance policy taken out by my parents when they married in January 1946! I wonder if its worth anything? Actually I doubt if it is as my dad was meticulous about such matters. Not having found my birth certificate I've ordered one so the original will undoubtedly come to light when the replacement drops on the mat. I must admit though that there are some other interesting documents that have come to light and are currently being transfered to the family history files.
  6. Now marked 'No longer listed due to error in listing.'.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit warmer here than yesterday but a bit muggy. I found the document from the pensions people that I require to renew my driving licence, it was in the correct place all along, I just missed it. Now I have to find my birth certificate, I think I know where it is but I haven't needed to show it since gawd knows when though it might be easier (though more expensive) to ask for a replacement. C & C's to all ER's ailing or otherwise, be back later.
  8. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Thanks John for the update on Debs, sounds as if the chemo does not require a restricted diet. It reminds me of when my mum was undergoing radio therapy. My mum had been placed by herself in a side ward and my dad and myself had been chatting away to her for about half an hour when the sister came in and asked us how long we had been there. Half an hour was our reply to which we were promptly ordered out. It turned out that due to the radiation we should only have remained there for ten minutes. Neither of us suffered any ill effects but better safe than sorry.
  9. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Opened the packages collected yesterday when I got home. One contained a 00 replica of a Sulzer 6 LDA A28 diesel engine/generator and the other a selection of resin scenic items from a manufacturer called Anyscale models. Included is such items as a bouncy castle and a sunken barge. The engine came ready painted but the other items are in the raw. I will attempt venturing out later, depends on how hard the hay fever hits, its not too bad at the moment but its wait and see. Andy and Chris, I hope you can keep your respective black dogs in their kennels and I hope as we all do for news of Debs. Thats it for now, be back later.
  10. Many reasons can be given for the short working lives of the 9F's, Beeching and the Clean Air Act for example. As for the class 14's, the work for which they were built evaporated as they were being built (also due to Beeching).
  11. Could have been worse, she could have caught you trying it on for size.
  12. We invited the Mayor here in Basildon last year (and the year before) and he showed a great deal of interest. However I'm not sure that he will still be mayor in July when we hold our exhibition given the recent council election results.
  13. I noted the mayorial car there when I arrived, it was still there when I left.
  14. A very enjoyable show and I'm looking forward to next years show at the new venue. I hope the accident just outside the venue about lunchtime didn't cause any problems or for that matter didn't involve anyone to do with the show.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny here this am. Off to the sorting office shortly to collect a couple of parcels that arrived when I was out Friday and yesterday, one has to be signed for and one was too large for the letterbox, fortunately they are open Sundays for a few hours. I really need to sort out my spare room, it is becoming rather cluttered and some items that were placed there several years ago are now required. Thats it for now, C & C's as required, be back later.
  16. You could have got one for £2.99 when the series started.
  17. They are also available from Stobarts at the same price http://www.stobartclubandshop.co.uk/collections/world-of-stobart The Volvo excavator and the bulldozer are very good models.
  18. I must admit that I would have had difficulty in collecting it so perhaps just as well.
  19. Just noticed that Jamies tug-boat has sold. I did put in a bid but was just pipped at the post, I was going to increase my bid but I opened up my e-bay to late. Whoever won has got a bargain, its worth more than twice that. You should have put a reserve on it Jamie.
  20. Following the merger of Sainsbury's and Asda Marks & Spencer are to merge with Poundstretchers. The new company is to be called Stretchmarks.
