  1. Better than privatisation liveries such as an A4 in Virgin colours.
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The Basildon festival went well today despite the weather, shower-sun-shower-sun and so on. The heavy rain that was predicted has only just arrived, long after everything is packed away. Thanks for the news of Debs John, please give her my best wishes.
  3. I mentioned the BMW recall on the driving standards thread resulting in a lot of toys being thrown out of prams. A case of light blue touch paper and retire.
  4. Several years ago I investigated a commissioned livery wagon from Dapol and was surprised that the minimum order was only 42, and the price was quite reasonable.
  5. Especially when they fit traffic lights to them.
  6. It would have helped if the RR driver had used their indicators.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. As I mentioned I am on the afternoon shift on the club stall at the Basildon festival. Checked the weather report on BBC breakfast this morning for what good that did. The new cheapo weather maps are so small as to be useless compounded by the fact that half of Essex is covered by a label saying London. There is no local news Saturdays and the local weather news yesterday never went beyond this morning. Rant now over so C & C's to all those who need them and have a great day to those ER's attending the Derby show, wish I could join you.
  8. If your on Facebook theres a group called 'Trains on trucks' that features railway stock being moved by road. IIRC there is also some BTF films about heavy haulage.
  9. I like the prices on Amazon:> 11 used from £2:00, 34 new from £3:75 and 1 collectable £59:99! And talking of cattle trucks http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/peta-cow-memorial-crash-wisbech-14634526
  10. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Great news Chris and heres hoping it stays low. A bit of a busy day tomorrow as we have a local festival that my club attends and I'm on the afternoon shift. We very nearly didn't attend this year as there was a lack of bodies and transport due to a club layout going to our twin town in France this weekend.
  11. A lot of the passengers from the ferry have a lot of hand luggage and as TfL found out narrow doorways impede those with large amounts of luggage. This was on the Piccadilly line sevices to Heathrow where this became a problem. A partial solution was to enlarge the vestibles at the expense of a number of seats.
  12. I know of one young lady who wore a mini skirt for her test. The examiner turned out to be a woman. (She passed anyway.)
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The bin lorry dawn chorus is in full swing this morning including the lesser spotted glass and bottle wagon. Baz mentioned Smiffy, its his birthday today so in case he's looking in, happy birthday Smiffy. We were reminded of the upcoming royal nuptials this morning (19th May) so I will have to take avoiding action and as I'm not a great fan of football either it won't be the FA cup. I think there's a couple of exhibitions within a reasonable distance or perhaps a visit to a preserved railway?
  14. I think we can forget about the 'D' stock being used in any way shape or form on the Island Line. The 'tube' equivalent of the D stock, the 1983 stock was put forward for possible use on the Island Line and was rejected. One of the main reasons was the single leaf doors which were considered unsuitable for the requirements of the line.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I suppose I am responsible for the hoo-hah on the driving standards thread as I posted about the BMW recall and suggested the instalation of indicators, light blue touch-paper and retire.
  16. I thought that as well, the wagons are more suited to the Railroad range. Expect a glut of Huntley & Palmer wagons on E-bay shortly.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. It was pouring down first thing this morning so its a bit cooler, the sun is now shining through the hazy cloud. No binmen until tomorrow due to the bank holiday, unless they have deployed the stealth bin wagons. I think a couple of modelling mags are out today so a trip down to Tescoes soon. Usual C & C's, be back later.
  18. They did tend to roll over, also the ground on which the track was laid could be unstable and limited axle weight.
  19. Evening all from Estuary-Land. A mobile home would make a great layout room. Do you need a water supply to a layout room?
