C2C is the old London Tilbury & Southend Railway which was taken over by the Midland in 1912 and was never part of the GER.
  2. Interesting RT variants there. The first pic shows an RTW, the second has a brace of RTL's on the right and the third shows a Cravens bodied RT.
  3. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Perhaps I should keep my big mouth shut, I mentioned the 'wall to wall' sunshine this morning. Almost as soon as I'd mentioned that it clouded over and as I ventured out a few spots of rain were evident. Had a bit of luck in Tesco's. I use a water filter as the local water is very hard. My current water filter is now looking very tatty and I intended to get a new one. In the bin for damaged items in Tescos there was a filter jug in a very battered box so I checked the contents and they looked OK so I took a chance on it as it was marked down at £5:75 from £23:00. When I got it home I found it to be in perfect condition except for the pouring spout cover that was rattling about inside the jug and that was soon clipped back in place. I'm not using it just yet as I've only just replaced the filter on the old jug.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Nice to hear from Sherry and belated birthday wishes though I have already given them on Facebook. Wall to wall sunshine outside so off to make the most of it, if the hay fever holds off.
  5. The Leyland/Albion Lowlander must be one of the worst buses ever. Whoever thought that grafting the unaltered front end of a PD onto a low frame chassis was a good idea? At least AEC put a bit of thought into the Bridgemaster/Renown.
  6. Regretably the Matchbox MoY Scammell 100-tonner is a much larger scale than 1/76, nearer to 1/60. I did attempt to kitbash/scratchbuild one in 1/76 many years ago using bits from several Airfix military models, not completed regretably and I no longer have it. FYI it was based on the Scammell tank transporter, for the front wheels I used those from the German Anti-tank gun and the rear wheels from a Russian T-34 tank. The rear of the chassis was the steering tail from the WW1 tank.
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. ID's comments about the obsolete sound systems reminded me of some of the antiques on display at Battlesbridge yesterday. One dealer specialised in 60's items including items such as radiograms and record players. In fact it was reminicient of my home when I was a teenager, except that we didn't have a home bar though we did have a 'drinks cabinet' built into the sideboard that was only rarely used except at Christmas. One thing missing was the horrendous 60's wallpaper, a good miss IMHO.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not much else on the news except that wedding so after catching up on the weather report I switched the box off. Yesterday there seemed to be more than the usual amount of traffic on the roads while the wedding was in progress, probably doing the same and avoiding said wedding. Glad to hear that Debs is over the latest lot of chemo and lets hope that she's back wielding that awl soon. Bye for now, be back later.
  9. This morning I was approaching some traffic lights on a road with a bus lane but stayed in the other traffic lane as I was not familiar with the area and wasn't sure if I could use the bus lanes or not. As I approached the traffic lights those for my lane turned green but the bus lane stayed red holding a couple of cars using that lane. Apparently cars are not big enough at those lights to trigger them.
  10. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Certain nuptials were avoided today, the nearest we got was a superb looking 1955 Cadillac sporting wedding ribbons going the other way on the A130. We had decided to go to the Battlesbridge Antiques Centre because my friend Richard wanted to visit the model railway emporium and I wanted to visit the motorcycle museum. Unfortunately they were both closed, the first because the owner is on holiday and the second apparently only opens on Sundays. All was not lost however as the centre is enormous with a great number of specialist traders. In fact we only intended to spend an hour or two there we ended up spending four hours there. Afterwards we nipped into Chelmsford to dispose of a few modelling tokens at John Dutfields before heading home. I've just spluttered tea all over my keyboard.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Just a quick hello and goodby as I am avoiding a certain wedding today.
  12. Or the DLR stock should fit, and it comes equipped with the underrunning third rail, conversion of the Island line to that system should be easy. Problem is that DLR do not seem to have plans to dispose of any stock at present.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The BBC are officially starting their reports on a certain wedding at 9 tomorrow morning. I was under the impression that they had started earlier this week. I saw the link when I opened my Facebook this morning and am now signed up. Talking of Facebook, every now and then it still decides to throw my groups up in the air and re-arrange them in sh!t order. Most annoying when your half-way through checking your groups. Last night it happened again but I think I've found a way of stopping the problem. I held the return button down to bring up a list of pages already looked at, the list of my groups shows up as 'Groups'. This shows up several times in the list and if I click on an older one the problem doesn't seem to occur. So next time it happens I'll try that.
  14. As for location, there is a building in the background (above the left hand doorway of the van) that has a rendered/painted end with something written on it, a pub perhaps? This could give a clue as to location.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I have planned my escape for tomorrow from the R**** W******. Firstly I will be taking my friend and his lad to a model shop, then for the rest of the day I will be catching up with a few things on I-Player such as 'Innocent' which due to other priorities I have been unable to watch. Muggatee awaits so C & C's to those that are ailing, be back later.
  16. O dear, a spat has kicked off on the Oxford N7 thread, some people have very thin skins.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday to Rick and many more of 'em. A bright sunny morning so out shortly to make the most of it after a muggatee.
  18. They don't use motorbikes to catch drivers using mobiles in the UK, a couple of forces use unmarked trucks to catch them.
