  1. Cararama produced one based on their Scania truck model. Despite being described as either 1/72 or 1/80 depending on the packaging it was in fact very close to if not 1/76 scale.
  2. I went to the toy fair/swap meet at Raleigh this morning. On the way there we passed an early model Ford Mustang (D reg.) going the other way, on the return journey we were followed by a 1930's American car which I have now identified as a 1938 Pontiac 5 window coupe.
  3. Some Vauxhalls could be pretty fast. I had a Vauxhall Victor FD 1600 that was capable of 100mph according to the speedo.
  4. You will find that you will no longer hear the chime after you pass through the windscreen head first collecting the steering column with your chest on the way.
  5. Good afternoon from Estuary-Land. Returned from the toy fair with a few goodies having expended a few modelling tokens, had a bit of lunch and now for muggatee and to catch up on the goings on on RMweb.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Just a quick look in as I'm off in about half an hour to a toy fair. There was a report on the news this morning that there was an earthquake centred on Grimsby last night. One of the locals thought it was a heavy lorry going past but no reports of any damage. Bye for now, back later.
  7. Bachmann also acquired the Classix range a few years ago but nothing at all has appeared.
  8. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Looked out about an hour ago and saw that everything was damp, we must have caught a passing shower. It must have been short as its still muggy. I counted the buds on the triffid poppy today, no less than twelve plus the two that have flowered and some of the others have also flowered. Time to put the kettle on for tea, be back later.
  9. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Glad to report this morning that the poppies are blooming this morning with quite a few more coming on. Not much else to report and muggatee waits, be back later.
  10. It wasn't a Viva drivetrain, from the A posts rearward it was entirely Opel Kadett with the exception of the hatchback which was a Luton design on a shortened Kadett estate floorpan. The slant four was an entirely new design from Luton with a SOHC and one of the first toothed belt camshaft drives. A V8 version was intended but the accountants got in the way so the Ventora had to soldier on with the old Bedford truck engine. Indeed it was, using panels shipped from the Chevette line in Luton.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Several poppies have flowered now including the 'triffid' which has 8 to 10 buds waiting to flower. Not a lot else to report, be back later.
  12. The Chevette was based on the Opel Kadette, in fact the only part of the body that was designed in Luton was the front end (based on the Firenza) and the hatchback version. The last 100% British designed Vauxhall was the Victor FE, also the last Vauxhall to carry the distinctive Vauxhall bonnet flutes.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. On the news this morning Farcebook are apologising for screwing up their share options. If you selected 'friends only' it still distributed your share far and wide. I did spot the change and if there was anything I'd prefer the world not to know I put on my own timeline but there was very little of that. The first poppy flowered yesterday afternoon, they are not the common red variety more of a purple/pink colour, almost certainly garden escapees. Muggatee awaits, be back later.
  14. IIRC the Wallasey Atlateans were the first of the type to go into service anywhere. Followed by Maidstone and District who used them to replace the Hastings trolleybuses.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Checked out the gator board that arrived this morning, everything is in order BUT I hadn't ordered enough serves me right for being so tight, at £6 per sheet its not cheap. I picked up a copy of the new Model Rail (July) this morning and was pleased to see one of our club layouts, Aldwych featured. I made the original suggestion for the layout but I was unable to get involved as I was tied up with another club layout at the time.
  16. Its relatively easy to swap wheels between Oxford models and with some Cararama models.
  17. Just got my copy today. One error on the Aldwych article, Basildon MRC has been around for a lot more than 20 years, that is the time we have been in our present club house.
  18. On the subject of motorbikes, Micro Machines produced several motorbikes that were suitable for 00 scale some of which are suitable for the period in question. They are mostly generic in design though.
  19. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Another item for my planned micro-layout arrived a few minutes ago, five A2 sheets of 10 mm gator board, hopefully it will suffice for what I need. The usual Thursday bin wagons dawn chorus accompanied by the lesser spotted glass and bottle collector. More poppies are getting ready to flower but still no flowers yet. Best wishes to all ER's that require them, be back later.
