  1. Morning all from a rather dull and overcast Estuary-Land. In answer to Gavin's page 45 teaser this is from 'Since you've been gone' by Charlene Thompson. "No honey, please don't. That nurse who lives next door is here now." Make what you will of that. Not a lot else to report, muggatee awaits so its be back later.
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a check to see if I could find anything else for the charity shop this afternoon. I've now got two more of those large plastic bags full. I get plenty of those old-clothes-for-charity bags through the door, so many in fact that if I attempted to fill every one I'd be going around naked. Another thing is there is no need to feel guilty about throwing them away or using them for other purposes as the charities concerned have received all the monies they are going to get. The bags are distributed by private companies who pay the charities for the use of their names. The charities receive a fraction of a penny for every bag sent out in their name and thats it, any profit from whats placed in the bags goes to the company concerned.
  3. I seem to recall a similar article about building a class 309 unit.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Slept like the proverbial log last night so feeling bright and breezy this morning, hope it lasts. Not a lot else to report, muggatee X 3 has been drunk, C&C's to all those that require them, be back later.
  5. From the left, Morris MO van, Morris 10, AEC Regal IV BEA coach and a Vauxhall Velox. The Pantechnicon is possibly a Guy going by the shape of the radiator badge. The car on the right is a pre-war Ford 8 or 10 and looking over its shoulder on the horizon is that a Morgan?
  6. Those clergymen look kind of familiar, perhaps they have appeared in newsreels etc.
  7. Its a January '55 issue. The 1962 issue was the reversed one with the numbers preceding the letters.
  8. I was thinking of the transition from straight track sharply curved track on a model railway layout.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Thanks for the update on Debs John, here's hoping she'll be back with us a.s.a.p. wielding the awl so you have all been warned. Made some progress with the shed today, the contents have been sorted into bags and boxes ready for the charity shop/recycling/tip. Problem is what to do with all of it as they are all closed so back into the shed for the time being.
  10. They also done a few (very few like single figure) Mk. I Capri's. Not an easy conversion due to the rear wing/quarter panels.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday to Tony and many more of them. Isn't it just so, I have made no plans for this weekend or next for that matter and Arfur Itis must be on holiday, not a single twinge this morning. Looks as if I might locate the far wall of the shed sometime today, all of 7 feet away. Muggatee awaits so its be back later time.
  12. Adam has his own page on Facebook and shows his pics on Flickr. Just search for Quicksilver coaches.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Found a Youtube video of the Rapido factory in China. I've posted it on its own thread but here it is >> Quite interesting, including a J70 hauling 7 dynometer cars.
  14. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Made a start on emptying the shed so a trip down to the charity shop is penciled in for Monday. That is a full car load but seems to have made little difference, there's still a load of stuff to go. Just as well the forecast for the week ahead is dry, I should be able to start on the shed installing shelves. Thats it for now, be back later.
  15. The British motor industry did produce 'colonial' models during the 1930's, Humber, Austin, Riley and Crossley advertised colonial models as did Morris-Commercial though these were passenger cars based on light trucks. The influx of American (or more often Canadian built) cars during the war put paid to many of them and grabbed a lot of the market.
  16. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Still bright and sunny here but forecast to cloud over later. Not much else to report, muggatee is ready so its be back later.
  17. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Yesterday evening on Facebook I found a snippet of film that I thought was funny so I posted it to my timeline and to a couple of groups, a lot of others seem to think the same by the number of shares its received. Tea has been brewed, be back later.
  18. This was posted by another ER on the jokes thread but it applies to many ER's.
  19. I was thinking more of the gaps between the rails and the road surface, a perfect trap for the unwary cyclist.
