  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Decided to be lazy this afternoon so my evening meal was fish and chips from the local chippie. Whist I was waiting for my order I nipped next door to the newsagents and was delighted to learn that I had won on the Euro lottery, all of £3.
  2. Sometimes a bigger engine can improve economy. Some of the Mk. I Transit motorhomes are a case in point. The 2 litre V4 struggled with the weight until someone replaced one with the 2.6 litre V6. Not only was the performance improved but so was the fuel consumption from about 18 mpg up to about 22 mpg. All down to the engine not having to work so hard. Though the engine change was virtually a bolt in swap the front end and bonnet had to be swapped to that from the diesel version.
  3. Yes, that roundabout looked pretty hard to me.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Busy day yesterday and I didn't get to bed until two this morning. Despite that I feel bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning, I wonder how long it will last? Must remember to visit the ATM today to stock up with modelling tokens for tomorrows Shenfield exhibition. Thats about it, C&C's were required and have a good POETS day all.
  5. You won't be able to miss me, the grumpy old git trundling around with a red stroller.
  6. If they damage your property they have a duty of care and should repair the damage free of charge, no ifs, no buts thats the law.
  7. It's been reckoned that automatic boxes will outsell manuals in the UK by 2025. Strangely sales of cars with manual gearboxes is increasing in the USA because they suffer the fewest thefts, the crooks don't know how to drive them.
  8. Multiple pantographs are probably to avoid high voltage connections between cars. Here in the UK the pantographs are usually on the power cars, there are a few exceptions where the pantograph is on the adjoining cars. One advantage of course is the flexibility of each car having its own pantograph, as long as you have a cab at each end you can combine cars into any formation required.
  9. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday to Beth and many more of them. The bin wagons dawn chorus has been and gone, they seem to have oiled the squeaky one but not very well as it still squeals but not as much. Looking forward to the Shenfield show on Saturday, just have to make sure I have plenty of modelling tokens, some surprising goodies often show up on the club stand. Thats it for now, muggatee awaits so its be back later.
  10. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Bill, I carry a couple of spare keys at all times, also a couple of neighbours hold spare keys. Have you ever thought of a key safe? in some circumstances it could be a good idea though as in my case there is nowhere to put one without it being obvious from the street.
  11. Just been announced that actress Fenella Fielding has passed away at 90 years of age.
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Best wishes to John and get well soon and the same to any other ER's under the weather. Bob, I went over to the Co-op for my energy supplies many moons ago from British Gas and I immediately cut my bill by 40%, also I can credit my 'divi' to my account, just google Cooperative Energy. A bit damp underfoot this morning but it looks as if its going to stay dry and the local forecast is dry for the next week and temperatures in the mid 20's by next week. Thats it for now, muggatee awaits, be back later.
  13. The problem with camper vans is condensation especially in spring and autumn with cooler nights.
  14. My SJ410 shared the 930 cc engine with the Super Carry/Rascal. Problem was it weighed in at 1.3 tonnes and had the aerodynamics of a brick, 30 mpg could only be dreamed about.
  15. I forgot about the passport, when I went to mine it turned out to be expired. Ironically I can sign passport photos (and now that I have a photo licence photos for those as well) due to my having been a local government officer as long as I have known that person for more than two years.
  16. There is/was a place in Erith that specialises in Suzuki spares. I went there for some parts for my Suzuki SJ410 but that was some years ago.
  17. I know someone who's car was hit on the side by someone pulling out of a side turning. He was given a courtesy car but as he was passing the same side turning someone pulled out and struck the courtesy car.
  18. I wonder if any other parts from the later Suzuki Carry would fit. I was looking at a Bambi similar to yours a year or two back. The one I was considering was an MOT failure due to chronic rust but i was contemplating getting one of the later Suzuki's and transfering the caravan part on to it, should be simple as they are identical from the cab back. However a Suzuki in good order turned out to be expensive, there were plenty of cheap ones but many were only suitable for spares.
  19. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Definately autumnal outside this morning and rain predicted for this evening/overnight. GDB, if you already have a photo licence it should not be difficult to renew your licence. If as in my case you have the old paper licence make sure that you know someone who is qualified to countersign your photograph. When I renewed mine a few months ago they required not only the countersigned photo but my birth certificate and proof that I am resident in the UK. Well it looks and smells like it. Thats it for now, be back later.
