  1. The Bristol Lodekka was made by a company called MTS, nothing whatever to do with Tower Models. MTS also made an East Lancs forward entrance double decker that was offered with a choice of bonnets/radiators. AFAIK the only other bus made by Tower models was the London RT/RTL.
  2. My father had cousins who buried a very early single cylinder Morgan 3-wheeler (pre WW1?) in their back garden. The house they were living in still exists in Oxlow Lane, Dagenham but before anyone gets too excited this was about 90 years ago.
  3. Its a pity that the DVLA will not allow you to have a registration from a vehicle that was scrapped before the current records began. I would love to have the registration from my first car, 760 BUC.
  4. The Somerset could still be about wearing an 'age-related' registration.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The bin lorries dawn chorus, including the lesser spotted glass and bottle wagon has been and gone whilst I was soaking in the bath this morning. Before running the bath I had to evict a rather large spider, using my cardboard tube from the centre of a loo roll method. After doing so where it had been was a small black spot (spider poo?) that needed a good scrub to remove. Tony, I agree owning and running a classic car or other vehicle takes a lot of commitment (and money). Up until a few years ago I had an old van, a Reliant Kitten. On the face of it an easy classic, uncomplicated mechanicals, fibreglass body so no rust, the chassis was sound but if required would be easily reparable. Then reality occured and I realised the unlikelyhood of my getting it back on the road so I sold it on. Muggatee # 3 awaits so I'll be back later.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just returned from the club where there is still no water supply. Our landlords will be notified first thing in the morning, there is no sign of any leak but the clubhouse is a wooden building on a concrete base that has been there for 60+ years.
  7. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I still can't remember the name of the plant that has appeared in Light Engines garden. If anyone can name it please let me know.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny here this morning and the forecasters are predicting it will stay that way at least until the weekend. Tony, I hope your not feeling too sore this morning. Club meeting tonight, hopefully the water will be back on. Last week the water was turned off and one of the members who lives nearby went home and returned with a container of water so that we could have some tea. The clubhouse is an old cricket pavilion and our water supply is shared with the ground. Thats it for now, muggatee awaits, be back later.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I have them in my garden but I can't remember the name of them. The flowers are like a hydrangea in size and shape but a pale yellow/green colour. Be warned though they spread like wildfire, hence their appearance in your garden. I would remove all except the healthiest looking example but remember to dead head them as soon as they have flowered.
  10. Whatever you do that asbestos roof will be a problem. As Chris said, flatten it and build something more suitable in its place.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Andrew, have you also tried Trading Standards? He's likely as not to be on their radar and they will notify the VAT office and Inland Revenue as a matter of course. This months copy of Railway Bylines has just dropped through the letterbox so its time to read it over a muggatee, bye for now, be back later.
  12. Oops, I missed Johns birthday, so belated happy birthday John.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Great to hear from Debs, I notice that she's been posting on Facebook as well. Happy birthday Ian and many more of them. Thats about all for now, teas brewing, be back later.
  14. Its at the Brentwood Centre off the Ongar Road. It opens at 10 am. The trader is Alan Jones but AFAIK he doesn't have a regular spot. I will be there, look out for Father Christmas pushing a red stroller.
  15. Looks like something you'd expect to be served up in the bar in Star Wars.
  16. I visited a toy fair yesterday and one of the traders had a couple of Pecketts on sale at £85 each, including a Huntly & Palmer example. The same trader usually attends the Brentwood toy fair the next one of which is this coming Saturday.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Saturday night my internet started getting slower and slower, hence my not getting to bed until 2 AM. Sunday morning it was up to speed again but again it started slowing down in the evening until just before ten it went down altogether so I switched off my computer and went to do something else. When I checked half an hour later the internet was up and running and at normal speeds. I was not to bothered by this but I realised that as the TV works from the same hub that would have gone down as well, during the finale of 'Bodyguard'. I should imagine that the telephones at Virgin Media will be red hot this morning. Not a lot else to report, muggatee awaits, be back later.
