  1. The AGIP animal is a fire breathing dog not a dragon. In fact it is based on the Tarantasio, a legendary creature who lived in Gerundo Lake. A sort of Italian Loch Ness monster that used to leave the lake to devour the local populace.
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Next door are moving in the next few days but their skip that was supposed to be collected Friday is still there. I didn't mention that when I hired a skip a few years ago it was over a week before it was collected. I wasn't too worried as it was one payment up front for the skip hire which is the usual practice. I'm still waiting for someone to collect the Workmate I rescued from the skip.
  3. Not only the construction of the seats but such things as safety belts.
  4. When I was a lad (stop laughing at the back now) one of our neighbours had a Thames E83W Utilicon. All the seats in the back folded into the floor which is better than modern people carriers where you have to remove the seats altogether to make a loadspace.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. After yesterdays exertions the joints decided to come out together in protest this morning but a couple of paracetamols sorted that. At least its stopped raining and its predicted to be fairly dry for the rest of the week. Not much else to report so C&C's where required, be back later.
  6. Even rarer, I've seen pics of vans and even pick-ups. They are not 'home converted' either but the ones I have seen are registered in Spain so could be SEATs.
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Not a bad day today at the bus museum but the event was not up to previous years. Part of the reason is that they no longer can use the grounds of the school next door for displaying cars and other light vehicles. The reason being that the school has now become an 'academy' controlled by an organisation based in London that seems to be disinterested in to anything extra-curicular. My friends young son got his ride on a sunken side gangway double-decker, an ex Southend Leyland PD3, one of two such buses operating. (The other was a Bristol KSW6G fitted with platform doors for express services.) There was even an open topper running with a good load upstairs despite the weather. I picked up a few diecast models, some of which were bargains. After leaving we went to Tesco's but it took us about half an hour to get off of the island as the London bound A13 was shut from Sadlers Farm to Pitsea causing a tailback. Having done our shopping we realised that my friends son was missing and it took about ten minutes to find him, no idea were he got to but he must have found something to engross him.
  8. Great pics, the models dress, hair and even make up are in keeping.
  9. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Heading out shortly to the Canvey bus museum. However in consideration of the rain persisting down I won't be hanging around the rally field for too long. I will probably savoir the delights of riding on some of the vintage buses. My friends young lad hopes to get a ride on a low bridge (sunken side gangway) double decker, something he's only just discovered exists. Thats it for now, be back later.
  10. There was an incident a few years back where a car had left the road and crashed into the roof of a house, in Norfolk IIRC.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Spent a couple of hours this evening on Facebook and then went to make a pot of tea. I switched off my laptop before doing so at the mains as the battery was fully charged. Afterwards I went to switch on my computer when I noticed that the hub wasn't working, so no internet or TV. Spent half an hour checking the connections and plugs but still no luck and then I noticed that the connection to the computer was still switched on, I had turned the wrong switch off!
  12. FYI tomorrow is open day at the Canvey bus museum. There is a free vintage bus service to the museum from South Benfleet station and to and from the rally field.
  13. Apologies, thats why I didn't provide a link, I couldn't find it myself for the same reason but I knew it was there somewhere. If your on Facebook Taff Davies gives an advanced preview the evening before the public announcements on the 'Oxford diecast collectors' group.
  14. There will be a selection of buses, operating a frequent service from the museum to the rally field and South Benfleet station.
  15. IIRC someone already has, and made a second loco from the two front ends.
  16. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Caught up with the weather report this morning, today hereabouts its going to be dry and sunny if a bit breezy, much the same as yesterday. Tomorrow however is going to be rather damp until mid afternoon. I will be popping down to Canvey bus museum for their open day tomorrow with my friend and his young son who is bus mad. Now bath to be run, be back later.
  17. Problem is if your behind the wheel and if you used your mobile phone you are breaking the law.
  18. The pair of bogie cars can be scratchbuilt using the Ratio bogie bolster kit. The bogies are of the same type and the bogie centres measurement is identical. The overal length of the coaches is only two feet more.
  19. Lithium can be found in the old Cornish tin mines, the biggest problem is extracting it safely. Its very nasty stuff, get enough on your skin and it could prove fatal. Lead and Mercury are harmless by comparison.
