  1. Hi Rob, Yes I was slightly taken aback too as were some of the other exhibitors. Luckily my drapes had become a little damp during unloading, so did offer some resistance! On a separate note, the Rapido Lowmac that arrived today does pass through my Peco code 75 bullhead medium turnouts without any issues either at the blade or crossing points. The back to back appears (although I have yet to measure it), slightly different to the wheelsets from the wagons I have had to re-wheel. Vaughan
  2. On a serious note, will they be fire retardant, or was my experience pre-Covid of venue management going round testing with a cigarette lighter a one off?
  3. Probably a recently defrocked MP, who also wants to bring back public flogging?
  4. Some say 42, but I prefer 101010
  5. Showing what as sad person I am, looking back the last time orange was used in regular rotation was Feb 1975, after which blue / green / red became the rotation. Now seems to be green / blue / red, unless the issue is for a special occasion, e.g. a royal event when purple (or claret?) predominates
  6. I think having it in BRM is better than Traction closing altogether, some of the articles are useful in seeing how the early years of the dieselised railway still used steam era operating practices.
  7. Anyone who serves me a full English with baked beans will ensure anarchy occurs immediately.
  8. Unfortunately some Ikea shelves appear more prone to a degree of warping than the table tops. I found this out on my current cameo which uses an Ikea shelf, where after I had screwed & glued a painted plywood board to the top and laid some of the trackwork, I noticed the centre of the board had bowed upwards by approx. 5mm. In an attempt to overcome this, I made four cuts through the shelf's bottom layer at equal distances either side of the high point and clamped it to a table using sash clamps. When the board was removed after a few days the bowing had reduced to 2mm, which I deemed to be acceptable and the cuts were filled with waterproof PVA in an attempt to re-introduce some strength. I have since beefed up the layout facia material to help stability. So far operation of locos and rolling stock does not appear problematic and buildings have been designed to ensure they are horizontal. Hope this may help. Vaughan
  9. Unlike a Dexta which is a breed of small Fordson tractors eminently suitable for a green diesel layout.
  10. Strangely if people showed up in vehicles that appeared to be above their paygrade, our audit team usually took an interest!
  11. I suspect a Loco-remote Wi-Fi controller would fit in this model as I have one in a similar sized Ruston built from a Bole Laser Craft kit. These work by creating a wi-fi hotspot unique to the loco and this is then accessible on your mobile phone (either Android or Iphone). You connect the phone to the loco and it provides a control interface for direction and speed control. They are also available with some sound functionality. Two sizes of unit are available, one for max 6v motors the other for max 12v. There is a kit compatibility checker on their website. They can be found at https://www.locoremote.co.uk/
  12. With the sale of the layout this thread is now closed. The 7mm excursion progressed no further than the previous thread as I lost my railway modelling mojo completely. Things have taken an unexpected direction and I am now building some 16mm scale (1/19th) narrow gauge items. The locos are battery operated and controlled from my phone using Loco-remote WI-FI control. I may start a thread on this development when progress occurs.
  13. Quick update - this layout has now been sold and I believe the new owner will be starting their own thread for it. A link for that may soon appear on this thread. Meanwhile 7mm scale is being contemplated.......
  14. Out of interest, what CV's did you fiddle with other than those in the range #003 to #006 please?
