  1. I've been baseboard building today. My usual method of 12mm MDF on top of my 20 year old 3 x 1ins timber frame, topped with cork tiles. Anyrail tomorrow to finalise the plan. We seem to be mirroring each other's work, it'll be interesting to see what evolves. Mal
  2. Great work and your list of 10 learning points is very interesting. I think most of us can sympathise with your conclusions although your photography in not bad at all. I can certainly recommend HO and DCC as the way forward. Mal
  3. I'm also having problems with my signature. I deleted the old signature and copied and pasted the URL from one of my layout threads but some text is showing (see below) and I can't delete it. Any help would be most welcome, I've clearly done something wrong. Mal
  4. Good to see you've returned to the 'dark side'. Jack's loss has made me have similar thoughts so I'm also going to spend some time with Anyrail and see if I can come up with another small US switching layout.
  5. Sad news indeed. I met Jack at the Newcastle in 2011 when he was operating Jonathan Grant's superb 'Sweethome Alabama'. A real gent, always offering advice, information and encouragement. He was such a champion of small layouts and his layout plans and ideas have been a source of inspiration for me for many years. He will be sadly missed.
  6. I visited the shop whilst on holiday many years ago. It is small but well stocked. I've bought few freight cars and buildings fom them and found their online service to be excellent
  7. I agree with Harlequin. I can't be 100% certain as I've haven't bought any Y points for many years.
  8. The Y point has the old contact tabs attached to the point blades which Peco dispensed with a few years ago. Also the tie-bar has a slightly thicker profile compared to the newer point.
  9. Cannot comment on Piko but Lima produced some nicely detailed, scale length Silberlingen coaches, including a driving trailer. Not sure if they are still in production but can possibly be found on ebay.
  10. Superb modelling and photos. I've just read your article in MRP 2019. Great work! Mal
  11. For US forums have a look at the Model Railroader Magazine forum http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/default.aspx and Model Railroad Hobbyist who also offer a free online monthly magazine. https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/
  12. 'Winning' always a winner for me and still a great location for photos. Class 56s in LL BR Blue always look great, and now a distant memory. This class 66 at Winning also has a livery which is a distant memory. Thanks again for sharing your B&T photos.
  13. I felt I had 'made it as a railway modeller' when, after posting a layout thread here on RMWeb, I was shocked to receive no less than 4 invitations to exhibit the layout at model railway exhibitions. I had to decline, my layouts are not portable, and, in any event, the idea of exhibiting terrifies me!
  14. I've had this problem since the software was updated. I was about to give up on VNC. However, it now appears to be working fine now. No more multiple thread entries.
  15. Another great show at Perth Green. I've been attending for many years but wasn't aware of the Bus Lane Camera Trap! Just hope I missed it yesterday!
  16. Great video. Loved the layout tour!
  17. Another video of Deanside featuring 26032 shunting. Loco is fitted with Legomanbiffo sound and 'drivehold'.
  18. Another great video! Your superb layout has provided inspiration for my next project which I have already started planning.
  19. Agree. Superb workmanship. The level of detail was excellent considering the small scale (2mm FS). And the trains ran slowly and smoothly.
  20. Great video, loved the cab ride showing the superb scenic work on your layout. .....and nice collect of 37s!
  21. Here is the first video of Deanside, featuring 37191 shunting a few vans. Enjoy!
  22. Looking forward to the show, especially as it was cancelled last year due to the 'Beast from the East' which I battling in 'deepest, darkest, remotest Northumberland' on my way to a wedding at Otterburn!
  23. 2 copies left at the Metro Centre. Well worth the wait, bringing back great memories of visiting Scottish depots in the early 1980s.
  24. Still not arrived at Blyth. I'll try the Metro Centre today.
