  1. Having had time to read the section on Timber traffic, I've discovered that the Bachmann model OTA (exVDA) is too late for my modelling period of 1980-1985 as they did not come along until 1988. Time to buy some Hornby OTAs (ex OCA) and repaint them like this one. Thanks Simon.
  2. Here's a closer view of the OTA and OBA. I'm lucky, have an endless supply of 00 gauge timber supplied by shrubs in my garden.
  3. It will be the 7th anniversary of 'The Eagle has landed' on Wednesday 31st March and I've followed your procrastinations with great interest since the beginning. Hopefully, one day, the 'the Eagle will land.'
  4. Great photos. I can't help with the posters but here are a couple of photos of a variety timber wagons at Crianlarich, probably 1984 which I thought might be of interest. Loads of info and photos regarding timber traffic in the new 'Wagonload Formations' magazine. Hopefully, Hornby will eventually do a Railfreight version of their OTA like the one in the photo.
  5. Picked up a copy in my local WH Smiths. Great photos and informative text, not to mention great value for money. Contains exactly what I was looking for regarding timber traffic in the BR Speedlink era. Look forward to more 'Wagonload Formations'! Mal
  6. That's exactly what the chap I spoke to last week asked me to do when I ordered my 25. - 'Tell your friends about us'
  7. This looks great, just what I've been looking for. I'm planning a BR Speedlink era timber unloading siding, for my next small layout project. I hope I can pick up a copy in my local WH Smiths before they, sadly, close down for good!
  8. I love the way Mallaig is progressing. Great photos. Your third photo reminded me of this one I took on my second visit to Mallaig when 37/4s had taken over passenger services. 37423 'Sir Murray Morrison' can just be seen behind the TTAs
  9. I was going down that route buying a Heljan 25/3 from TMC and having them fit Legomanbiffo sound. Comes out at over £300.00, so I'm going with a sound fitted SLW model.
  10. Agree with your comment. I had originally intended to buy a Heljan 25/3 from TMC Models and have them fit Legomanbiffo sound. However, a sound fitted SLW 25/3 actually works out cheaper, so it was an easy decision to order from SLW.
  11. Congratulations. Well deserved recognition for your excellent layout. Enjoyed the video despite my limited knowledge of French. Tres bon, mon ami! Mal
  12. EWS 66209 arrives at Ashtown Aggregates with JGA hoppers.
  13. That's a really neat, compact set up. I can just imagine a J27 with a single van trundling past. The J27 would probably be supplied by South Blyth (52F) shed.
  14. Great work with the rocks. You're really getting the delapidated look around Mallaig that I saw on my visit in 1984.
  15. Nice work. Looks like an interesting little project. Good to see a model of a Northumberland backwater, an area rarely modelled. The forthcoming Oxford Rail J27 will look great on your layout .
  16. EWS 66209 shunting JGA hoppers at 'Ashtown Aggregates'
  17. Fascinating photos of Blyth. The track-bed from Newsham to Blyth shown on your 4th photo is largely unchanged today, just more overgrown with bushes. This photo shows the original line but viewed in the opposite direction. The houses and allotments on the right of your photo are on the left of this photo. A J27 is returning to South Blyth shed. Thanks again for sharing, always a pleasure to see your B&T photos.
  18. My second experience this week of the new E-bay payment system, except it was a £1 fee. Worked exactly as above and this week £1 fees offered again so I'm quite happy to start selling more items. So far, so good.
  19. With the arrival of ETH fitted Class 37/4s, Eastfield's 37191 has had it's boiler isolated. Seen here departing Deanside Transit with a trip freight working to Mossend Yard.
