Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year - until you have to take the dcorations down and put them away. The Magi might have been a bit more considerate and timed their arrival for New Year's Day - which was a bank holiday anyway.

Morning again. I'm back home. School drive, pathways and buidings blocked by snow. Can't risk litigation now can we. No heating - the diesel generators couldn't cope with the low temperatures. I knew there would be good news if I waited long enough. Have never really given thought to the bird population DD, sad really, although they must have some built in mechanisms to cope otherwise they would be programmed to fly south for the winter.

Hi DD I subscribed - it sent me an e-mail with a click to subscribe line, it then wanted more personal details. I've given that bit a miss, but it does look as if it is working ok. I used an e-mail address that I use for this type of thing so if I'm battered with spam it won't matter too much. I'll let you now if it does get intrusive in any way. Morning all Snow on ice here again this morning. I don't like this being stuck in the house. Mrs S. has just said "I've been thinking ......" I'm going for a walk. I may be some time.

At least the Jedburgh and Coldstream routes are a more pleasant and often quieter drive when compared to the A1. Also, I know where to get a decent all day breakfast on both. I have to agree about the camera country comment too ..... and I can't believe for one minute that some aren't placed in revenue earning spots rather than accident blackspots, but let's not get into that discussion here, for fear of saying something untoward.

Morning all We had a mini thaw last night when the snow turned to sleet and what was lying started to melt. Then it turned back to snow before the skies cleared. Overnight everything has frozen solid, it is like one large ice rink out there. It took a long while to edge to the newsagent and back earlier on. I've just been reading the 'best selling authors of the decade' list. No prize for guessing number one, but Shakespeare is there (just on top of Carol Vorderman) and so is Enid Blyton. More importantly, still there, is the Rev. Awdrey. All is right with the world.

It's all this global warming.
