  1. Whereas before the complaint was simply lack of sun now we have heavy rain too. Still warm though. I hope the sun is still shining on the barbecueists and/or the righteous. They say there will be snow before the end of the month.
  2. Ok then. Who's nicked the sun?
  3. Indeed DD My favourite of all time must be 'A 60ft tree can break wind for one hundred yards'.
  4. I was quite impressed by England's discipline. Most unusual for them. I expected the Scots to push and England to give lots of penalties as per usual. They conceded relatively few. I was talking to my yr 7 (11/12 yr old) tutor group about languages and the fact that there are about 7000 different languages - an average of 35 per country. We talked about languages spoken in this country. They got English and Welsh and then struggled so I gave them a push toward a language spoken in Scotland beginning with 'G'. One suggested, in all seriousness, Jockish.
  5. I guess that means that it has to be an end to end layout.
  6. Are earworms contagious? How far can they jump? Can they spread over the net? Such are the mysteries of life.
  7. Suonded just like a bumble bee.
  8. Orange phoned today. It was them that did, or caused BT to do, something to a circuit board that developed a fault. So well done. You hear so many horror stories about Internet provider support departments. Beethoven's Ninth. The singalong bit.
  9. Evening all My broadband connection re-appeared earlier this evening. Orange did phone me back on Saturday night, asking me to try one or two more things and then said they would make investigations at their end and test the line etc. Either thay have sorted it or it just another one of those mysterious things that happen with me and computers. If it was them then fair play to them, not an immeditae resolution but at least they have sorted it in four days, two of which were a weekend.
  10. Three days off? Weather set fair? Whitrope's siren call beckoning.........
  11. Morning all I've got a dongle thingy which means I can get online occasionally just to check that you are all behaving yourselves. I'm not with BT but orange so have been spending time talking to those not of these climes. James Bond didn't phone last night but I have been assured that i am booked for a call tonight betwss four and nine. Thy've got two hours left. Why do I get the feeling that only a request for a MAC code may bring results. That request wil happen sooner rather than later if they won't escalate to someone with technical knowledge rather than technical support. Take care all.
  12. Evening all I haven't forgotten about you. I still love you all but my Internet connection is down at the moment. I have spent over an hour talking to someone at a call centre who took me through all of the steps I had already tried. An agent is going to call back tomorrow night. I do hope it is James Bond. Just in case I don't get back for a while here are my postings for the next few days: Morning all. Thank goodness it's Friday Morning all. Clear blue skies here. That's a nice car Gordon. Be careful the herons don't crap on it. Has Sam had an outing in yet. Morning all. Didn't England give a lot of penalties away. Yes DD, how very true. I'd blame the ramblers. Just lthinking about that is tiring me out Mike. Morning all. Three jumpers Don? It must be cold. Nice to see you are still lurking Lisa. Take care everyone.
  13. Morning all. It's still raining.
  14. Have just seen an interesting juxtaposition of book titles. The first was 'Wet Weather Activities in Lakeland'. The second was 'Beautiful Sheep'.
  15. Enjoy your weekend Phill. Sounds very tiring. I've just had a full breakfast as I am in a hotel in the Lake District. Can't really tell where the lakes stop and the rain starts though. Very wet. SWMBO is not with me as once a year we have a gentlemen's weekend. Old school and university friends get together once a year for a walking weekend. When we first started iback in the eighties it was a long walk followed by short drinking/socialising sessions These days it is the walks that are short and the socialising long. I missed last year due to a family wedding so there are some here that I haven't seen for two years. I intend to enjoy my weekend in spite of the weather. Enjoy yours.
  16. Most of the Staines Upon Thames these days are brown in colour. Ask the guy who just swam it.
  17. .......and sometimes, if you are very lucky, you can catch a doctor. A phrase that irritates me, for no reason that I can put my finger on, is someone claiming that they are 'growing' their business/finances etc. Yes, I know businesses do grow but someone growing one just doesn't sit well with me.
  18. I would never run after work ....... I have enough as it is.
  19. Bu$$er the all quite on the western front lark. What about the western rear? Still very windy. That roof collapse was not far up the road. The fatality was a volunteer ambulance driver for a hospice. It always happens to the good people.
  20. Afternoon all To those on this side of the pond: Blimey, it ain't 'alf blowing a hooley out there. The car was determined to move sideways as I passed gaps in the hedgerows. Lots of fallen bits in the road. To Pete and others 'over there': A light zephyr over here.
  21. stop this monkeying around or I'll washer my hands of you nuts and make a bolt for the door.
  22. For whit it's worth it was on the old version of rmweb.
  23. DD Tarantino has a certain ring to it.
  24. Morning all. Watching the rugby. What an embarrassment. Don't they know the rules? What makes it worse is that they make the same mistakes game in game out.
