  1. You need to get in there and sort that lineout out (and Marler).
  2. What won tonight’s lottery then?
  3. Once upon a time, back in the day when you did such things, I was trying to change a car light bulb. After trying to bend my arm through four ninety degree turns and feeling my way about I still wasn’t getting anywhere. (Can you see where this is heading?) After watching in some amusement, my brother-in-law suggested that I ease my mobile phone in and take a photo. Brilliant idea, I changed the bulb no problem. “Thanks”, I said. “Where did you get that idea?” “Remember, I’m a gynaecologist”, was his reply.
  4. It wouldn’t be too long before you painted it yellow.
  5. Evening all. 1. Re TVs. Our son in law likes to have the latest of everything and so regularly ‘upgrades’ his TV and sound system whether it needs it or not. To be fair to them, they work hard and don’t go out very much, if at all, so watching films at home is something they enjoy and do regularly. The upside is that we tend to get the cast offs and so have the latest, but one, TV - gratis. We had to refuse the last one though as it was too big for our situation. 2. Re GP appointments. I have had breathlessness since I had covid. Nothing serious but I can’t do some things that I used to enjoy. Getting old too, I suppose. It has got worse recently so I mentioned it at my recent diabetes (by phone) review. Nurse said it should be checked out. This was on a Thursday the week before Xmas. Booked in on the Monday for an ECG and GP appointment on Wednesday. ECG normal, lungs sounded ok but was referred for X-ray. Contacted yesterday and X-ray is on Tuesday. . I suspect that in some places it would be expected for that all to happen in one visit with results available too, but I’m not complaining. That doesn’t make it any easier for those who are having difficulties gettin appointments though. 3. Re other things. Nothing to report. Have a good weekend folks.
  6. If you are looking to purchase in the near future then, sadly, your choice may be limited by stock availability of some of the systems, or the components of some systems at the moment. For very much the same reason that there are long waiting times for some new cars.
  7. Kathy Millat did a YouTube video on different ways of creating a misty scene but I think that was only for a diorama. Perhaps on something this size it would be easier if you knew a few pipe or cigar smokers and invited them round.
  8. … and for those of you watching in black and white, it’s the one next to the blue.
  9. It opens fine on my iPad, Tony, so not a generic Apple thing. Edit: have you updated to iOS 16? I haven’t as yet.
  10. Why specifically Teslas? Are they using that as a generic term for electric cars or do Teslas have a unique charging need?
  11. Don’t some of the transfer firms do custom transfers? If you find one that already has 7mm or 4mm transfers that you need they may be able to upscale them for you.
  12. I’m amazed* by the number of people who move to the country and suddenly develop an acute sense of smell. Diesel fumes, petrol fumes, smoke and other obnoxious smells? Nah, can’t smell them. First strange natural smell? That’s awful. Overpowering. They will soon grow accustomed - as this chap will to the noise. *I should have said it makes me smile …. just to avoid thread drift.
  13. They say a cold normally lasts a week. However, if you treat it with medication you can get rid of it in seven days.
  14. Yes, but he did well for himself. Went on to be Archbishop of Canterbury.
  15. Morning all I seem to have a heavy cold as evidenced by a waste bin of soggy Kleenex next to my chair. My throat is crying out for a whisky and Crabbie’s green ginger wine but it is a bit early for that. Thankfully the symptoms held off until this morning although I did feel their approach last night. This meant that yesterday’s festivities could go ahead as planned with family Christmas dinner at my daughter’s place - with our young grandson (only his second christmas) providing all the entertainment necessary. A quiet day beckons for me then. Enjoy yours whatever you are up to.
  16. A happy Christmas to all our readers.
  17. You got a part in the nativity play?
  18. I wonder if the discs were always able to be folded up as well as down or whether they were adapted to allow the lights to be seen but no white disc at the same time. Not really relevant to how we model it though.
  19. I think the point is that, by the time of these photographs, they weren’t being used to indicate headcodes any more. As long as there was some form of ‘marker’ lights showing it didn’t really matter how they were folded. I am just guessing now that the most common, but not always, would be all showing or just the two showing in express passenger formation as you described. Folding the discs up (or removing them completely) would maintain the full yellow end panel. Just goes to show the importance of working to photographs where possible.
  20. Didn’t she win though?
  21. She knows nothing about, or has any interest in, my model railway. I know nothing about, or have any interest in, Emmerdale Farm or Coronation Street. It works for us.
