We are in the process of sorting residential care out for MiL. Sadly, it is agreed by all concerned that she can no longer safely look after herself, even with regular visits from carers and family. She has been in hospital for a couple of weeks and the various social workers and panels held their meetings. Yesterday was the deciding 'best interest' meeting and the decision was made. She was medically ready for discharge and we were taking some of her own furnishings, pictures etc to the home ths weekend but the hospital told us they won't now discharge her as she has 'caught an infection'. There is something frightening in those words from a hospital these days.
