  1. We had a mostly positive experience with the NHS today. I took Valerie for a further checkup after she fractured her foot earlier this year. Her appointment was 9.30 but we arrived at 9 as we hadn’t been to this particular hospital before. We checked in and within a couple of minutes she was called. Not long after she was back with me having had three x-rays and her check-up - all completed before her actual appointment time. We thought she might have been discharged but, even though the bone is healing nicely and ‘growing’ correctly, they want her back for a further check up in case any problem develops. Very positive experience so far, yet I only said we had a mostly positive experience. The negatives were, in the overall scene of things, minor ones. We missed the twenty minute free ‘drop off’ parking by five minutes and were charged £4 parking. Curdyturses. The other point which confused me somewhat, was that it seemed that the Orthopaedic Outpatient/Fracture clinic was as far away from the main entrance doors as was possible in the hospital - resulting in quite a long walk. Someone hadn’t thought that one through methinks.
  2. It looks rather pretentious for a soldering iron stand.
  3. Is the red kite the one with double subbuteo as its Latin name? I think it’s one of the raptors but not sure which one.
  4. Indeed, but said individual has escaped being detained in the first place.
  5. … and then extending it up to the Dee and down to the Severn.
  6. Grump away as little or as often as you want to. We are with you.
  7. You are Father Ted and I claim my £5.
  8. There is another ‘interesting’ match today that isn’t televised. I’ll say no more. 🦅🦅🦅
  9. My first enlarger was a Zenit. It dismantled and packed into its own base which made a neat carrying case. It was relatively cheap, as you would expect from zenit, but did a perfectly good job.
  10. Parkside Medfit end strengtheners.  Blummin' heck. Thats all.

  11. … or gravediggers falling through and onto the tracks below.
  12. The Marx brothers are in there somewhere too.
  13. Sorry, but I’ve never seen one with an ‘oil stain’ that colour in that location. If anything it is usually just the sleeper/brake dust type grime that has washed down. Having said that, it only takes one photograph or someone else who has seen one …
  14. I misread that and wondered why the audiologist’s husband was vacuuming your car. Perhaps I need to have my eyes vacuumed.
  15. I received an interesting letter from British Gas this morning regarding the account at my mum’s old house. It was last January that she passed away and, thankfully, winding up her affairs went quickly and smoothly. I seem to remember one of the last payments I made was for her electric and gas. Nothing out of the ordinary I thought. This morning’s letter said that as they didn’t send the final bill within so many days I was due compensation. Further, as they didn’t pay that compensation within so many days they owed my more compensation. The cheque is in the post. As it is nearly a year since I wrapped everything up, this has come totally out of the blue. It didn’t even cross my mind at the time that they had been particularly tardy in any way. Mum’s parting shot will treat us to a nice lunch out when it lands.
  16. One of the (many) reasons that the two Scottish Ferries are years late and millions over budget was that there was an element of design/redesign as-you-go. Apparently this was actually catered for in the original contracts. Not so long ago the press reported, in the way that they do, that all the electrical cables on the ship were too short and had to replaced. What they didn’t explain was that in one of the re-designs/reshuffles the transformers and switchgear had to be moved. Not far… but enough to cause the problems..
  17. I went for a walk along the seafront earlier and, despite that very cold wind off the sea, there were a few hardy souls with beach towels down and buckets and spades at the ready. They weren’t proper Geordies though as they hadn’t stripped off to the waist.
  18. Double like and triple agree buttons hit with that. Don’t know about you but whenever I have dilation it is, without fail, a cloudless, bright, sunny day. So much so that it can be quite painful and uncomfortable until I get home and can hide in a dark corner.
  19. Are you referring to the bikes, the riders or both. If the riders then surely it must be a triumph of riders.
  20. Can you pinpoint precisely what is buzzing?
  21. He did indeed. I don't think he invited Sam to be on his team though.
  22. I have never been able to work out our press's (particularly the Beeb's) obsession with news from the USA. Don't we have enough of our own? Does the rest of the world not exist?
  23. Just be thankful then that you aren't seeing Physio the rapist.
  24. A few years ago the then minister and now Lord Adonis went on a rail fact finding tour using an all line rover. After him saying publicly what good value for money it was, the price was hiked up considerably.
