  1. I don’t want rain on your parade, Andy, but it’s not the weathering but the different heights that jump out to me. The thing that sticks out about trains of insul-fish vans is the uniformity. Looking closely at the photo it looks as though the bottom of the wagons/solebars are at a different height too, so it looks as the issue is below that. Are the wheels of different radii? Is there something in the construction that has led to this? Hopefully (if it bothers you too) it can be corrected.
  2. I am speaking here as a user of sound projects rather than a creator. I think that you may have covered this in mentioning acceleration and deceleration but I find that one of the things that can spoil an otherwise good project is the transitions between the different sound loops. Also short repetitive loops where the sound isn’t uniform - and therefore becomes noticeably a loop - can be off putting. I know things have greatly improved in terms of memory but should you be considering the available memory v total size of your sound files at the design stage?
  3. What? In the Jokes thread? Be careful now, you don’t want to start a trend, do you?
  4. It was very warm away from that sea breeze. We ended up at Wallington. It was uncomfortable in the open but a walk through the woods and along the riverbank proved very pleasant indeed. I have been up into the loft and opened all of the windows as I plan to spend tomorrow up there doing something unmentionable.
  5. I cut a ULEZ camera down. It fell against the wall of a local school. Whole building collapsed.
  6. I hope that result cheered you up a little bit @Barry O Still keeping everything crossed for Mrs O.
  7. Or just apply the roller coaster principle. Start at one end at the top, peddle like **** , stick both legs out in front and Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. Living just a few miles further south I can’t help but agree with you. But I do wish you would keep quiet about it. Let’s keep it to ourselves. p.s. You didn’t mention the hills and moors, the castles, those beaches with the wide skies, the Craster kippers, the Cathedrals and churche, the … @Barry O Lovely dry day up here. Plenty of sunshine. About time you moved back.
  9. Apart from the the ones who are Shiela.
  10. One can never have too many Class 37s. They are looking good. Im looking forward to seeing your weathering too.
  11. Thoughts are with Mrs Baz and Baz.
  12. I know that you can be a bit accident prone but… cut? top of head? whilst hoovering? * * I know, but Sharking doesn’t have the same ring to it.
  13. That would be the last time Raquel Welch, Jenny Agguter and Sam Fox all called for coffee. People still don’t believe me so a video doorbell would have been very useful.
  14. Not Exact Editions but I had a similar experience with my Ordnance Survey subscription. When my card changed they couldn’t take out my subscription and informed me so. I went to their website to change the card details but couldn’t find anywhere to do this. I contacted them and was told the only way to do this was to cancel and take out a new subscription - at the current price which was, predictably, higher than that which I was paying. I really felt like telling them to stuff their maps where no one could read them, but I find them so useful that, whilst telling them what I thought of their methods, I bit the bullet and re-subscribed. Gosh, that was almost a rant from me too. I try not to do rants. Need to go and have a lie down.
  15. What a great pity. It was always part of any visit to the NYMR
  16. I like your backstory and look forward to seeing how the layout now develops. I agree with others, the original layout looked very good too. As for mental blocks and feeling things aren’t quite right - you aren’t alone in that. I think every \railway modeller goes through feelings like that at some point.
  17. I enjoyed your video very much… and probably a more effective therapy than some of the things previously mentioned here.
  18. Good grief. Ten pages of erudite guff since Monday evening. I just can’t keep up with you lot.
  19. Do you have to keep bringing your Dick up? Can we not run it round Corfe a few times. See if anyone notices.
  20. The Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia pipe band have won the World Pipe Band Contest. Did you support them? No? Thought not.
  21. Welcome to RMweb. There are a few of us here with interest in the west highland line. You couldn’t really call us a sub-group or sub-forum but I have always found that there is friendly, mutual support and we all learn from each other. Enjoy having a browse of the existing WHL layouts and hopefully we will soon see a thread on your layout. I look forward to it. Good to hear that you enjoyed your West Highland Way walk too.
  22. After the warm up games England have re-assessed their expectations and targets for the World Cup. They now hope to finish games with fifteen.
  23. ... and the blue spot van kits were flogged off at Hartlepool last year.
  24. I converted a couple a while ago but the photographs on my thread have been lost. I could replace them if they would be helpful. @meanach I found that the hardest part was removing the bays/single seat as the plastic from which they are formed is hard and quite brittle. Railtec transfers do a suitable sheet… https://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=3952 I also bought a sheet of their cantrail red strip as how far it extends does vary from vehicle to vehicle, emphasising the need to work from those photos.
