  1. We will be in St Ives for a week in June. Now how can I persuade Mrs Bod to visit Camborne?
  2. Happy birthdays to those suffering, or having recently suffered, from same. Is any one else getting adverts appearing in the middle of the home page? They are mostly railway related photos and appear behind the text.
  3. Congratulations to the proud grandparents. ...... and of course to those who did the hard bits.
  4. They have been known to gang up on you too.
  5. Another very satisfied customer here. i wanted a couple of their decals customised with loco number and they were listed as out of stock. I'm not sure if this is their normal way of working for customised decals but I asked to be notified when they were able to do these. Later that day I received a link to order them. I ordered next morning, within a few minutes I received another email asking which particular locos I wanted them for and the next day the decals arrived. Excellent service. Now to fit them.
  6. I think convention says that the hole in the hood faces forward. Morning all.
  7. I'm not easily moved but that last sentence has brought a huge lump to my throat.
  8. I seem to have come away with a lot less money than I went in with. Has any of that been handed in to lost property?
  9. A feed to the heel of the point should be sufficient. You also need to feed the switches on the point motor with track power.. The wires from the frogs go one to each switched part of the point. Have a look at the instructions that came with the point to see which way round things go,. Depending on how you are laying your point it may be easier to solder an 'extension' wire to each of the droppers from the frogs and feed the droppers plus extension through pre drilled holes in the baseboard.
  10. Are you using two point motors? One of the droppers goes to one and the other to the other motor. Off the top of my head I can't remember which way round but, as has been said, there are many diagrams out there.
  11. I think you are correct. It was Brora's owner who said that he/they wouldn't be able to afford it.
  12. What would happen if, through the various playoffs, Cove Rangers were promoted to replace Berwick? Wouldn't that leave the Highland and Lowland Leagues with an odd number of sides?
  13. Enjoy your trip Mike.
  14. I've heard of Which Tyler. He lead the Pedants Revolt.
  15. Disney have posted this. I'm not usually a fan but found this quite touching.
  16. Apart from that, how was your day?
  17. Over the years I have resisted this but .......... ........ for goodness sake Andy, give us a groan button.
  18. I very rarely venture far from home for exhibitions these days. I regularly go to York and try to get to Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow each year. I got to Ally Pally a couple of times a few years ago and did indeed meet a few fellow RMwebbers and ERs in particular. It was good to put faces to names and talk. As you say ........ perhaps …… one day. If you, or any other ERs, are ever in the North East (I mean proper North East not York or Leeds, they are doon sooth) and have a bit spare time on your hands the National Trust's Ormesby Hall is worth a visit. There are, uniquely for the Trust, a couple of good layouts there. The main layout, Corfe Castle, was built and donated by Ron Rising who also produced some buildings for Pendon. This is where I volunteer so if anyone does get a chance to visit, PM me.
  19. That is a pity in as much as I will be there on the Monday. It would have been pleasant to say hello or have had a chat over coffee.
  20. Morning all i spent most of yesterday thinking that I had broken the site as it appeared to shut up shop immediately after my post. As already pointed out this was just a case of the link not working in some browsers. I only found this out by chance on Farcebook. See, it does have its uses. Sobering (and worrying?) thought though that I did wonder what would happen if the site did disappear or change. I don't depend on the site (honestly) but do enjoy it and consider many here virtual friends. I had a most enjoyable day yesterday with my team winning the league. They were top at the start of the game and only a set of unlikely results would see them overtaken. They were playing a team already relegated and won 137 - 10. A freak result. Other games, especially against other top teams, have been enjoyable and close run things. Some champagne was harmed in the making of the celebrations.
  21. I suspect TigerB will be pleased though. I'm of to see the local team play this afternoon albeit in a much lower league. It is a very pleasant experience, the small clubhouse being friendly and catering for my simple needs. Unless there are the most outrageous and unexpected set of results this afternoon, my favoured team will win the league. This would mean a promotion to the sixth tier of English rugby next season from which lofty heights I am sure they will soon return.
  22. Raffle? That's what they told you. In reality the traders clubbed together to buy you tickets.
  23. As to the Spurs game, why are commentators so obsessed by Harry Kane. The way they went on when he went off injured you would think that there were no other players at Spurs or in the England squad. It's a bit of an insult to the rest of the squads.
