The Llanbourne class 20 fleet grew by two over the weekend. 20009 and 20165 are now finished and have worked their first train.
Having now done 6 loco's I have noticed a few things in the class that my be of use to others modelling class 20's.
20009 was one of the first batch and came out with Oval buffers. The other disc loco's differ from the headcode box fitted loco's as they have a different style Speedo cable.
Pipework seems to vary a bit but most disc fitted class 20s have the MU socket next to the right buffer slightly lower than the headcode fitted loco's. My 20121 started out as a Lima Headcode fitted model which I converted to a disc fitted machine useing a Craftsman detailing kit. This loco also has the larger drivers window which a batch of loco's had when fitted with tablet exchange gear for the Scottish region.
20154, 165, 169. are all headcode fitted loco's and I have noticed these loco's have lamp brackets on the buffers which the Disc loco's do not have. Note the MU socket sits higher up on the bufferbeam and the Speedo on these loco's is different to the Disc fitted loco's.
Also 20121 and 169 have the slightly larger numbers.
Also as Lee mentioned the equalising beams vary quite a bit in the class so you will have to find a pic of the loco to check. Beams are plain, fluted, and fluted with holes.
Hope this is of some use. The pics should help show what I am talking about.
Cheers Peter.
