  1. Thanks Cav, I might have to try another shot with the Kadee's removed. A nice banger blue class 47 may be. I know you like your class 47s. Cheers Peter.
  2. Thanks Rich, More to come class 45s next. Cheers Peter.
  3. Hi Stu, Thanks for the info great story, The power of the signalman ay. I was trained on the groundframe at Eastleigh depot, it was certainly better pulling levers than down on the ground being a shunter. I think I have mentioned this before but on one night shift I had given the panel the release for a LE and had set the road for the fuel point, I had just started to doze off when the sky lit up I stood up and looked out of the window just in time to see another light show, it turned out to be a Dutch liv class 37 rounding the corner with it ploughs touching the juice rail every now and then. Happy days. Cheers Peter.
  4. Thanks Lee, Had't seen that before. I wasted another half hour watching other clips too. Cheers Peter.
  5. Thanks again, I am not 100% happy with the insides of the wagons but they will do for now glad you like them though you would have seen a few over the years. I went to Chesterfield a few times always a few MGRs about plus a few other freights. Cheers Peter.
  6. Thanks Rob, I still have plenty of things to do but seem to have lost a bit of motivation at the moment. I am sat watching TV when I should be out in the garage. Cheers Peter.
  7. Hi Lee, 40060 should be a beast when you get that started. The video with the 118 footage is by Locomaster profiles. The Class 40 story. I did look for it on youtube, you can probably get the CD of the class 40 Story somewhere. Wish I had a few for haulage back in the day though being stuck down South probably didn't help. Cheers Peter.
  8. Thanks Mate, The MGRs are what I have been working on in the last few weeks. I actually lowered them and fitted new wheels and Kadee's last year. I thought it was about time time I weathered them. Cheers Peter.
  9. Thanks Andy, The lighting on the newer part of the layout looks better to me so I might have to try and sort the other side of the garage. I could also play with the colour settings on the camera. Cheers Peter.
  10. Thanks Lee, Thought you might like the class 40 pics. I might have mentioned that Aureol is a Lima body, it was painted nearly 20 years ago now it wasn't weathered straight away though as I wasn't happy with the lima window frames. I think it was a modelrail article that brought Aureol out of it's box, I showed a great pic of the loco. I think I had the Craftsman etched window on in a week and painted and weathered the week after that. It has since had a Bachmann chassis fitted so runs really well. I still want to do one more class 40. 40060 which I only saw once but it was one of the last in service and has a centre headcode. Your 40118 looks superb as does you class 20. I have a video on the class 40s which shows 118 on a short passenger late in 84 it's a great bit of footage. Cheers Peter.
  11. Thanks Rick, I spent a bit of time on 97406 I had some good pics so tried to weather it as it was in it's last few months in service. Cheers Peter.
  12. Class 40s had been an everyday sight for most of the early 80s but by late 85 only four were left in traffic. 40122 D200 had been painted green earlier in the 80s and was still in use on railtours though it did see use on service trains to keep it in good running order. Four withdrawn class 40's were reinstated during 85 for use around Crewe for the re-modelling project. 40012 40060 40118 40135 were re numbered into class 97's and were restricted to 35 mph. Once the work had finished around Crewe the loco's were keeped on by the Civil Engineers and saw other work on ballast trains etc in the North West. The 97's made regular trips along the coast to Penmaenmawr Quarry. Llanbourne doesn't have any booked class 40 work but 40122 can be seen on the weekday Summer dated train from Stoke which does do a trip down the branch. Also other passenger and freight work vice other motive power. The 97's can be seen on ballast work vice other motive power and Engineers trains as required. 40012 (97407) CD. 40122 (D200) KD. 40135 (97406) CD. Cheers Peter.
  13. Hi Lewis, I have been working on a few things but tend to just post what I have been doing on my layout thread. Funny you mention the HAAs as in the last few weeks I have finally got round to weathering them. Cheers Peter.
  14. Oooh I do like Q1s one of my favourite steam engines. Cheers Peter.
  15. Thanks Mark, I think I have that article now your mention it. I will have a look at the bits and see what looks easiest both methods sound pretty good. One of the regular ballast trains along the coast did come from Carnforth I don't remember going past this yard back in the day but it seems it was quite busy with engineers traffic in those days. Cheers Peter.
  16. Thanks Andy, Class 40s next but that won't be this week I am having a short holiday down in Tasmania. Cheers Peter.
  17. Nice work on the Grampus Cav, I have a few of the oo Dapol wagons, they are a nice model Cheers Peter.
  18. I have done it on a few of the early 47035 models. It's not too hard just take your time you don't want to remove to much. Cheers Peter.
  19. Hi George, Nice work on the brake van, I might get round to finishing mine one day. lol Cheers Peter.
  20. Nice work on the underframe Jamie, I did the same to my early 47035's There are loops on the bogie that need removing too as they were only on the class 57. The bogie look better when you fit the brake gear supplied in the detail bits bag. It's not clear where to fit them I've posted a pic of mine hope you don't mind. Cheers Peter.
  21. It doesn't seem that long ago the going rate for a wagon was 10 or 12 Quid, You can't find new ones now for much under 20. Cheers Peter.
  22. Thanks, I do have a few others to do but they are not as high on the list as some other loco's. Cheers Peter.
  23. Thanks Alan, I am pretty happy with the Dogfish it's nice to have a bit of variety. I run a few trip working on Llanbourne, they were quite common back in the day. It's nice to see a big loco hauling a couple of wagons certainly brings back a few memories. Cheers Peter.
