  1. I have a class 37 too but in green, It needs a total repaint so is still in it's box. Plan is to do it as 37043. the 45 will be weathered and numbered 45036 which was the last one to have the black headcode boxes. Cheers Peter.
  2. I am well happy with it Andy, The front axle is sticking out a bit. It's just the way I have plonked it on the layout, the front pony wheel can move left to right like on the real thing though in the pic it looks like it right across to one side. Cheers Peter.
  3. Thanks Dave, It is a bit of a big it does make the 4mm stuff look a bit on the small side. Cheers Peter.
  4. Hi Rob, Only plans at the moment but yes. Just a small shunting layout, I will start a thread when I have made the boards. Cheers Peter.
  5. So a bit done this week and a rather large parcel arriving mid week. I don't normally post up pics of loco's fresh out of the box but this one is something I have been saving for for quite a while. Peaks have always been a favourite so when I saw Heljan were going to one I couldn't resist. The loco is pictured next to my 4mm 45036 which is what the big one will be eventually. Another 4mm Peak 45103 has now been fitted with Biffs sound, it's really quite good but a real ###### to fit Speaker wise. Another loco nearly ready for a return to traffic is 31444. It has been sat in the display case for a few years and I even thought about selling it. 31444 was one of the last repaints I did in the UK before leaving to live here in Oz and it;s had a bit of work done to it. I have removed the motor gears and pick ups so the loco will be used as a dummy. New ETH sockets and air pipes have been fitted so once painted and weathered it will get some use. Cheers Peter.
  6. Hi Andy, You have been busy, The BLT is looking good too now with the wider board. Cheers Peter.
  7. Hi Trev, Did you get your noisy Hornby class 56 running any better? I unclip the plastic cover on top of the gear tower and pull out the drive shaft and worm gear. I removed all the dried on crappy grease and cleaned up the bearings then dropped in a little fine oil. This seems to get them running better. Cheers Peter.

  9. More than likely Bristol - Plymouth. Bristol used to chuck out all sorts of motive power during the Summer months when there were extra trains. The Scottish Duffs did get everywhere so not surprised you would have seen one at Plymouth. Don't forget Peaks too Andy. they used to get about a bit not the most common motive power in the Oxford area but I saw a few at Reading back in the day. Cheers Peter.
  10. Depends on what year it was Andy, When the Scottish 37/4 lost their work due to Sprinters taking over some were transferred South and worked out of Cardiff. They would have turned up at Bristol so one could have worked to Plymouth. I saw 37408 at Weymouth late 80 early 90s. Cheers Peter.
  11. Why not, Most passenger services would be 47/4 you might get the odd class 31 too. Back in the late 60s the Southern loco's used to get changed for western loco's at Oxford when working inter regional trains. So why not have class 33s working into your main station when heading North and having a loco change to a class 47/4. Pic below shows the down Wessex Scot storming through the cutting at Sway. Cheers Peter.
  12. Ha ha I would have remembered eventually.
  13. Hi Andy, Back in the day there used to be a Glasgow/Edinburgh to Poole service called the Wessex Scot It used to turn up with a Scottish class 47/4 quite often. Cardiff had it's own 37/4s they used to turn up at Brum now and then. Pic below 33017 on it way to Wolverhampton on a Poole - Carlisle relief. Class 50s used to work from Padd up Brum too. Cheers Peter.
  14. Ah yes forgot about that cool. See you Saturday. Cheers Peter.
  15. Hi Andy, I must admit I have been very tempted to do a few Triple grey and Dutch loco's over the years but normally lack of money has stopped me their has always another blue loco on the to do list that has stopped me too. Cheers Peter.
  16. Thanks, I need to order their Air tank kit for my class 26 so will ask them when I do that. Cheers Peter.
  17. Hi Jeff, Are you going to Rogers on Saturday? I wouldn't mind hearing the ED. Cheers Peter.
  18. No worries Andy, You could run to a later date but you would really have to leave all the older wagons in a box and use later railfreight air braked stock. 37401 is a nice looking model, not that common in the Birmingham area though. lol As for class 33s they did get up to Brum now and then there was a FO Pompey - Leeds service that used to see 33 haulage. As George said lets hope you keep this layout for a while at least it does look fun to play with i mean operate. Cheers Peter.
  19. Thanks Andy, I noticed you had gone blue on your thread though I do like looking at your dirty old Steam loco's. Cheers Peter.
  20. Thanks Alan, 31319 is a bit of a favourite. It's an old Lima model I painted about 20 years ago running with chassis parts from a Hornby class 31. Cheers Peter.
  21. Thanks Mate, One of the reasons for modelling North Wales was to have a few of the Departmental 40s. Cheers Peter.
  22. Tell you what George the Peckett is a liitle beauty. Andys weathering has really brought out the detail cracking job. Cheers Peter.
  23. Hi Brian, Nice work on the class 33. is it possible to get the extra detail bits from JLTRT or were the bogie pipes etc from your spares box? Really like 45137 I think that and 45111 were the last to carry their nameplates. Cheers Peter.
  24. Enough pics of the real thing here are a few from running trains yesterday. 25109 is running round it's Speedlink working while 08472 adds some more wagons. later 25109 is seen leaving for Warrington. D200 leaves for Bangor on a Fridays only Manchester- Bangor service. 31319 arrives on a loaded ballast. the train will run round in the station and depart for Crewe. Cheers Peter.
  25. Hi Leon, Sorry to see the old layout go but if it's not running well a new build has to be the best opton and a new layout will fire you up I am sure. I use Peco Electrofrog points and more recently use the PL10 i think thats the part number. Anyway you attach it to the point motor cut two little wires under the point and wire it up. It means you don't rely on the point blades for power. All the best with the new build Cheers Peter.
