  1. Looking for advise on decoders. I have used the 21 pin Lenz decoders recently but wondered what the 21 pin Hattons ones are like, as they are cheaper. I thought the 8 pin ones from a while back where pretty good. Cheers Peter.
  2. Thanks Rick, still working on the loco shed. I am onto the roof now the whole project has taken ages but I am getting there. The days are getting longer and we had a few warmer days last week but its been cold and wet this weekend. Good luck with the artilce and book. The ones my mate did certainly took a bit of time sorting photo's captions. Cheers Peter.
  3. Thanks Paul, They are new. made from plasticard. Cheers Peter.
  4. The crossover in the station is now finished and painted as is the holding siding area. Th a loco shed is also coming along but I still need to do the roof. Cheers Peter.
  5. Looks like a good day out Nigel. Some nice video too. Newport has changed a bit since I was there looks like an extra platform. I bet the class 37/4 was a nice bit of thrash. Do they run round each end I noticed it wasn't a top and tail set up like out on the Norwich trains. Cheers Peter.
  6. No worries Joel, I haven't had any trouble with mounting them on the bogies. My friend mounts his on the chassis and he is happy with that method. It depends on how sharp your curves are too. Experiment with both and see what works for you. The PTA is a shorter wagon so mounting on the chassis might be worth a try. All my couplers are mounted at the correct height using the Kadee height gauge. The 2nd and 3rd pic so a cheap rip of version of the Kadee number 5. I pick up a packet cheap and thought I would give them a try but 99% of my couplers are Kadee's. of various types. Cheers Peter.
  7. Finally found time to take a few pics of the way I mount kadee's. Hornby, lima , Dapol, Bachmann. Cheers Peter.
  8. Thanks Joel, I will sort a few pics for you. Cheers Peter.
  9. Thanks Will, I really need to get my signals working but most would have to be rebuilt, so it will be a while off yet. Cheers Peter.
  10. Thanks Neil, Still plenty to do, bit cold out there tonight though. Cheers Peter.
  11. Ha ha it's not working yet but it does look great. Only taken me six months to plonk it on the layout. You might need to talk to John. He's pretty keen on getting a banner repeater built for his layout. Will text you during the week. Cheers Peter.
  12. It's worth asking he is a nice bloke.
  13. I have been replacing the old points in plat4 and the freight loop. I had to move the kadee uncoupler but it's all wired up and running again. Now I am thinking of having the points worked by clamplock point motors but still having the older disc style ground signals. Any thoughts. Oh and I put in a banner repeater. A friend made for has layout but has given it to me. Cheers Peter.
  14. Hi Alex, I has been a while hasn't it. Hope you are well. Still plodding along with the layout, and a few items of stock have appeared in the last few years. Still plenty to do. Cheers Peter.
  15. Thanks Andy, some things can take years believe me. The only reason this is happening is because I had to replace a the point so thought while I was at it I would add the trap point, moving the signal is your failt. lol but I had the ballast and glue out so thought do it. Cheers Peter.
  16. Is this about all the foaming on the blue you painted the class 25. I see there was quite a bit of chat on the subject and not just the colour. Cheers Peter.
  17. Thanks Steve I will look into them, Cheers Peter.
  18. Well it's not the sharpest pic so easy done.
  19. Thanks John, There is a ground signal top centre of the pic. My thinking is that there one signal for the two sidings being as the point above the trap point is a hand point, if you see my point. lol Cheers Peter.
  20. Thanks Nick, I only did a single rail trap point which i hope is ok. Here is a pic which shows how it looks as of tonight, when I moved the signal from the platform to track level. Cheers Peter.
  21. Better still move the signal to the left with the ground signals. Not sure why I placed it on the platform really. though back before I added a few inches to the front of the layout it would have been right on the edge of the layout. Cheers Peter.
  22. Hi Wayne, I painted the roof panel the lighter grey then masked it with thin strips of tape then added the darker grey. Removed the masking tape give it a bit of a light sand so it doesn't look too neat then weather. It's not spot on but looks ok. Cheers Peter.
  23. Hi Andy, I think now you are getting the track down things should start coming together quite quickly. Work on Llanbourne has been very slow recently but I have been doing a few things. The loco shed is taking ages. I need to post a pic of the stabling point sidings. I did start to put two trap points in but it looked wrong so I did move the point up and put one in there. Re the platform starter. is that it's to far forwards of the point or that the base in on the platform rather than at ground level with boards forming the base at platform level? Cheers Peter.
