  1. Thanks Mark, Happy birthday for yesterday, I do like the Bachmann 47s and 2010 is going to be the year that I get some done as Llanbourne is well short of class 47s, the ones I do have running are Lima so are well past their use by date. I saw a friends DCC layout yesterday and he has been having trouble with points and shorts, and he rewired the whole layout his class 37 did sound nice though. Cheers Peter,
  2. Hi Dave, Thanks for that, when I was doing my MK1s I spent a bit of time looking at pictures to try and get the right colour, the more I looked the more I noticed different colours, I mixed up Humbrol Black and a dark grey in the end. I might try Railmatch on the next lot as I have a nother rake of MK1s to do myself. Cheers Peter,
  3. Hi Keith, Most of my scenary stuff is by Woodland senics which as you say is not cheap the grass turfs are by another company also not cheap, welcome the the not cheap world of model railways. The ground cover by between the road bridge and tunnel is old carpet underlay glued down in clumps and painted green you could also use hanging basket liners, I think mum would have some at home. Thanks Dave, I think Bachmann may have done a few more 47s this year, but I think they are so busy doing all the limited editions for the model shops they probably don't have time. I would love a few more large logo 47s too, I am planning on doing 47467 from a blue loco I have but a few others are in front of that. 47612 in Inter-City is hopefully on its way over, this will be renumbered 47613 and my Lima model can be sold. Thanks Jeff, I am planning on having a meeting here May 1st if anyone can make it, I think Neil is keen so you and Doug are more than welcome. Thanks Alex, Yeah I know what you mean, I quite like 47541 myself, we must resist we must resist. Cheers Peter,
  4. Hi Dave, The coaches look great, I sanded down the ribs on my MK1s but didn't remove them comppletely sort of which I had. What colour did you use for the coach roofs? It looks close to the what I have used. Cheers Peter,
  5. 47535 is pretty much finished, I am quite happy with how it looks but I might try and improve the steps that sit on the bufferbeam cowling. Here is 47535 arriving from Holyhead on a LE move with 45103. Cheers Peter,
  6. Hi Dave, I know what you mean about having locos in boxes, I have a few just waiting to be detailed and weathered. class 20s,25s,31,33,37/4, 40s, 45, 47s 50, 56 Hopefully I will get a few done this year, I have Two 47s nearly finished with another one just started, plus over the next few weeks a class 31/4 will be on the workbench. Yes the 7mm stuff is a problem but its something I have wanted to do for quite a while, I am not planning on having a lot as I only have room for a small shunting layout. The 4mm is still my main interest with the 7mm being a long term project, thats what I keep telling myself anyway. Cheers Peter,
  7. Hi Grimley, I agree it must be hard not to go out and buy some nice BR blue. But at least you have made a start, I can just imagine those 20s and 37s ticking over, oh how I misss that smell of diesel. Have you thought about a smoke unit or two for inside the shed a bit of smoke swirling around those 20s would look cool. Cheers Peter,
  8. Hi Mark, That station building looks superb I would be pretty happy with that sort of result, I have some houses to finish on Llanbourne, they have been nearly finished for about three years now. To busy playing, and doing locos. Cheers Peter,
  9. He got better. Hi Jack , There are a few things with DCC that I think will be improved in time, I am quite happy to sit back and watch for now. As you say, I can buy locos not chips, I think in time it will get cheaper and that means I wont get in trouble with SWMBO. Cheers Peter,
  10. Hi Dave, Your layout and Jeffs are what has got me thinking about DCC, but cash is the main issue at the moment plus I have a few more locos to get, though the end is in site, honest. Biggest problem is I have taken an interest in 7mm which would have to be DCC with sound. Cheers Peter,
  11. I did just mean the lastest two coments but if you want to drop the others in it, thats fine by me. Cheers Peter,
  12. Jon, You are as bad as the other two. Cheers Peter,
  13. Hi Flood, Love the pics, the 26s look hellfire and I always liked the Scottish Duffs 47642 looks great with the Highland stag on the side, I think my only pic of this loco was when it had the Eastfield dog on the side, must have been later in the 80s. Keep them coming. Cheers Peter,
  14. Hi Grimley, Looking good, me thinks you are going to need a few more locos. Cheers Peter,
  15. Just a couple of pics, 33202 waits to leave the shed, 25109 sits on the fuel tank round. I have been working on a couple of 47s, these pics show chassis' for 47535 and 47418 ready for weathering. Happy Easter cheers Peter,
  16. Hi Flood, Thanks heaps for the info I am pretty sure I know what to do now, though I need to finish wiring the extension before I do to much scenery. It is useful to know what I need to do though as I can start getting some of the detail bits like the taps etc. Many thanks Peter,
  17. Hi Flood, Great detail in the latest pics top stuff. I have a question for you, I have a few carriage sidings on my layout and was thinking they should have a few water taps for topping up the coaches, The carriage sidings only see about 3 sets a day and two a stabled overnight do you think I need both hoses as you have done? I am modelling 1986-7 so I am not sure if they had one hose for toilets and one for water? and were they orange back in 86? This is of course your fault as I was just going to do a few taps and a bit of black hose, but since seeing your work its got me thinking. Cheers Peter,
  18. Hi Mark, You are making good progress on the layout, the station building looks superb. What are your plans for 37057? it wouldn't take much work to turn it into a Scottish loco. Cheers Peter,
  19. Hey Gary, whos side are you on, I think I had jeff worried. Now you have me worried, I am sure it wasn't me. Cheers Peter,
  20. Crossing your fingers wont work,I think you are the Guilty one. Cheers Peter,
  21. OMG now you. I need to go back through my thread and see who started this jocularity. Cheers Peter,
  22. Don't you start, it makes you as bad as the others. Cheers Peter,
  23. I remember seeing pics of the prototype Sprinter at Llandudno Jn but not the 303s nice.
  24. There would have been a few red faces over that balls up. did any class 86s make it to the coast? I could go and get a Heljan model. Cheers Peter,
  25. No worries Mark, The 47s had the ETH sockets in two different places, some were below the bufferbeam and some above as with 975. Some of the Scottish locos had the ETH boxes moved from above the bufferbeam to below bufferbeam to allow ploughs to be fitted. Cheers Peter,
