  1. Thanks Alex, Thats what Llanbourne is all about, its my own 4mm 1980s world. I didn't get to se many class 40s, I only saw 40012 once or twice so this way I can see the old beast when I want along with all my other faves. Cheers Peter.
  2. Here you go, the junction down the botton isn't there any more but other than that the trackplan is pretty good. Cheers Peter.
  3. Hi Dave, The extension is built , wired and is fully working. I just need to do the fun bit. Ballast and senics. Cheers Peter.
  4. Oh yes I remember the tea bags, they could come in handy when we ran out. A messy bunch, shunters. Cheers Peter.
  5. Hi Merfyn & Larry, I am planning on doing a model of 40060 as a 97 and noticed that during its time as 97405 it was named 'Ancient Mariner' it was a sticker as opposed to being painted though. I did find some info on some other namers maybe you remember some of these. 40104 'Warrior' 40129 'Dracula' 40131 'Spartan' 40132 'Hurricane' 40134 'Andromeda' 40137 'Trojan' 40145 'Panther' 40164 'Lismore'. Cheers Peter.
  6. Hi Alex, Thanks mate glad you like the pics, I will have to see what I can do about some class 20 power for you. Cheers Peter.
  7. Part 5. 10.00 and the some movement in the signal box means another train is due. Moments later one of the last class 40s in service arrives on the 7K11 loaded ballast form Penmaenmawr to Crewe. 40012 now with its departmental number 97407 rolls into the loop and runs round its train. The driver has a 20 minute wait until departure time so might have the chance to grab a quick cup of tea. Cheers Peter.
  8. I have always liked that pic, funny you should choose it as 40012 was pictured working that train only the other day. Cheers Peter.
  9. I could see a nice little narrow gauge like the one that used to be at Sorrento. Had a goodly time at the beach plenty of fish about, too many boats and jet skis though. Cheers Peter.
  10. thanks Graham, more to come. Cheers Peter.
  11. Hi Rick, Thanks mate, I haven't been out to the garage today, temp gauge says 31.5 outside so in the garage will be about 40, To hot for me. Off to the beach in soon have a bit of a swim to cool down. Hi Doug, Your pic looks like so many of my 1980s shots, back when I used cheap slide film. Cheers Peter.
  12. Part 4. 09.40 class 45141 arrives on the 1D34 Trans Pennine service from Manchester. The train arrives at platform 2 and 45029 which has been waiting in platform 1 runs forwards and then sets back onto the train. Meanwhile 45141 has been uncoupled, the shunter walks up the train and couples 45029, after a quick brake test the signal is pulled off and 45029 depart for Bangor. 45141 follows the train down platform 2 and waits for the dummy, shortly after 45141 moves off and onto the shed. Cheers Peter.
  13. Hi Mark, Glad you are still liking the layout, It has taken quite a few years to get the stock where is at the moment but well worth doing, though some is getting a bit old and will need some extra work as my standard is higher than a few years ago. I think my 37 will have to have the wheels looked at, the motor and flywheel all seem to be working fine and the driveshafts are powering both bogies, which has beem a problem with some Bachmann 37s. Thanks, class 66. Hi Daz, Thanks, If you want to have a go at a bit of scratchbuilding the crew bus would be a good little project. Check out Merf's thread for the plans of the bus body ans fing yourself a Corgi ford Cargo. I think during the NSE days some crew buses were paint white and had NSE branding. Hi Scott, As i said to Daz the crew bus would make a nice project good luck. I do like parcels trains myself and I think Llanbourne has to many for the mid 80s but I like them so they will stay. I have to many class 33 hauled trains as well but as you know i do like my Cromptons. You will be pleased too know that later in the day a class 33 does pick up and shunt a van onto a Crewe working, there are a few pic of 33202 doing this a few pages back. Cheers Peter.
  14. Hi merf, Just been catching up on your Railway Motors thread and those drawings of the bus body look like the ones I used for mine, if I was going to do another one I would probably do flush fitted windows and generally make a better job of it. As I did mine about 15 years ago now, and my modelling skills have improved a bit, not much but a bit. Cheers Peter.
  15. Part 3. The Inter City has just left for Crewe and 25109 leaves the middle road and shunts back into platform 4. 08695 which had brought in the ECS for the Inter City shunts over to the middle road from platform2 and waits for its next job. At 09.30 the 142 leaves platform 3 and departs for Holyhead. Shortly after at 09.35 25109 leaves with the 4J09 vans to Redbank. Cheers Peter.
  16. Hi Dave, I was almost at the point of buying Heljan 47s myself, dispite the width problem they run well and do look good when weathered up etc. I didn't buy the first batch as I thought the 75.00 quid price was a bit much. The later un- numbered locos were quite tempting but buy then Bachmann had anounced their 47 which as you say was a bit of a disappointment. I was thinking I might be stuck with my Lima 47s forever, until i saw Pennine MCs bogie and tank mods. Then to clinch the deal Hattons started selling the blue 47035 for 35.00 quid so I picked up two and then another from Rails for 36.00. For that sort of money I don't mind doing a bit of work. The BR crew bus is a Corgi Ford Cargo with scratchbuilt back, there were some plans in an old Modelrail supp, though I still managed to stuff mine up and make it a bit to wide. Jim S W has done a few different trucks using the Corgi Ford Cargo. well worth a look. Cheers Peter.
  17. Thanks for that Kev. I will have a look. Cheers Peter.
  18. Part 2, It's 09.18 and the 4J09 vans from Bangor to Redbank arrives at platform 4, the train is booked for a class 47 but regularly produces a class 25, and today 25109 is on the train. The loco is booked to run round and pick up a van from the centre road. While 25109 is picking up the van in the centre road 47418 departs for Euston with the 09.25 1A25 Inter City service. 47418 will only work the train as far as Crewe where a class 86 will take over. Cheers Peter.
  19. Thanks all, Hey Bro, there is a yellow van on the layout somewhere too. Hi Merf, The 142 was all Chester had, the branch is normally a 101 or 108. Hi leon, As Alex mentioned the class 37 is on test from Crewe works and arrived with a class 47 on a service from Crewe. I am not sure if ex works locos ever worked freight along the coast before going to there own depot, but I quess it would be possible. Hi Class 66, I still have a few more class 47s I want to do but I am giving them a rest for a while. Hi Alex, That is one problem with looking at other peoples layouts, it makes you think about changing time periods etc. though Boxenby would look good with a few class 37s and 47 hanging around. 37693 is on test, and it really does need to be looked at as its not the best runner the centre wheels seem lower than the outer ones, and are making the bogies rock a bit. The bashers out there will be pleased to know 45029 is booked to work back to Holyhead. HELLFIRE B) Cheers Peter.
  20. It's the summer of 1986 and you have an hour to kill at Llanbourne on the North Wales Coast, it's a fairly bright day but the sun is partly covered by some high cloud and there is only a slight breeze coming of the Irish Sea. A good day to get a gew pics. Part 1. It's 09.15 and a class 142 Pacer comes off the branch with a working from Blaenau Ffestiniog, 47418 is sat in platform 2 waiting to depart with the 09.25 1A25 Llanbourne to Euston. Ticking over in platform 1 is no heat Peak 45029 it has worked in on a train from Holyhead and will return to Holyhead on the next Trans Pennine working from Manchester. Cheers Peter.
  21. Hi Dave, Well you have been busy, the extra station details look great, I am hoping to get some work done on Llanbourne this year, and like you I have just finished a TPO. I can't see a kitchen in the shove duff though. The real thing did have a stove at one end, I had a bit of a snooze in a class 47 cab once and had to rest my feet on the stove to stop it rattling. Your pics of 47461 on the TPO had me looking for an old Rail supp on parcels trains, there is a nice pic of 47461 on a TPO train at Aberdeen with an up special. Cheers Peter.
  22. Hi Kevin, Latest pics look good, I like your pallets with loads, who does them? Cheers Peter.
  23. Hi Larry, That would be some 12 inches to the foot by Boral. 37693 sits on the fuel point. Cheers Peter.
  24. I am with James, those ETH plugs and sockets, OMG the rest is pretty bl##dy good too. Cheers Peter.
  25. All the 5s, 47515 arrives on the 1D33 ex Stoke, 47535 will move off the stabling point and work the train forwards to Holyhead. 47561 arrived earlier on a service from Crewe with 37693 on test. Has anyone had any dramas with how the Bachmann 37s run mine seems to rock on its centre wheels, Cheers Peter.
