  1. Thanks Ian, Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, had a busy few days. I had a look at Kevs thread and the wagons look great, I think some of the info on how they were build could come in handy. Cheers Peter.
  2. Hi Flood, Thanks heaps for you help, it is a 19xx that I am going to do so your info has been a great help. I will see how I go with matching the paint before I start filling in the windows and doors though. I think it look good quite good in my Holyhead - Euston train. I think an article on your coaches in the showcase would be good there's not enough info on hacking coaches out there.B) Cheers Peter.
  3. Hi Flood, Nice work on the RBR it looks great. I may have miss read your post but did you end up repainting the whole side or just patch painting the area you worked on? I have one in Inter City livery but it has a different roof with out the pipework running along the top, did the RBRs run with different roofs? I am thinking I might give it a go though I don't really want to repaint the whole coach so hopefully I can find a good paint match. Cheers Peter.
  4. Hi Mark, Thanks, a few of my MK1s have the NSE branding, the Pompy- Cardiff and Cardiff -Crewe train seemed to use similar rakes. I think a class 37 at Grange would have been fairly rare as like you say class 31s normally worked the passenger, I am sure I have seen a pic of NSE livery coaches on trains up that way too. Cheers Peter.
  5. Thanks Pete, Thought you might like a class 37. Cheers Peter.
  6. Thanks Larry, More nice pictures, It's funny you chose the class 40 on cement as only last week a friend of mine bought his rake of Bachmann wagons over to give them a run on Llanbourne, we had a class 15 up the front though and not a class 40. The date is of interest too as March the 8th is my birthday. The Amlwch to Ellesmere is a train I would love to model, hopefully someone will bring out a kit or RTR of some of the tank wagons one day. If anyone has done a coversion using available bits let me know. Cheers Peter.
  7. Love that class 31.B) Tried a couple of black and white myself. Cheers Peter.
  8. Hi all, No progress on the layout this week, but I did get out there this afternoon and take a few pics. I have done a few in black and white inspired by Larry lovely pics. I really like the shot of 25035 leaving the shed so I have tried to replicate this with my 25059. 37232 was in the station with a Cardiff - Bangor service, Cardiff must have been short of motive power as this service is booked for a class 33. I have a pic of this loco working a Bristol local service to Taunton, I rode on the train to Yatton and saw the train blast out of the station. HELLFIRE !!! I am sure I am not the only one to model a loco because of a great memory of seeing it working. Also in the station is a 108 departing to Chester. 08472 is ticking over in the fuel tank road. Cheers Peter.
  9. Thanks Rick, glad you enjoyed youself. Thanks for those superb pics Larry, the shed ones will be useful and show that I am ok doing one road without a pit as it looks like some of the roads in your pics don't have pits. I love the pair of 40s (97s) one of the reasons for me modelling North Wales in the first place was so I could have a few of these loco's. The internal user wagons is nice too, I will add that to my to do list, it will look good on the blocks. Hi Mark, The Speedlink comes into what I call the freight loop next to the station. The train loco or yard pilot then add wagons from the station yard normally VGAs empty TTAs from the fuel point and HEAs that have been tripped from the off scene coal yard. once the train is made up it sits for a while before departing back to Warrington. The PCAs were weathered a while ago and I have more to do but can't remember how I did them. Hi YVM, Ok I know where you mean now, does the area cover the, what we used to call the military sidings? Do the Transits go by road now? I remember pulling a long train of track panels and ballast hoppers out of 2 reception road and trying to push back up to the PAD, it was raining and even with the sand on we were just sat there slipping, luckily a 47 from the holding sidings was comming up behind us, I think it was Mr Slade anyway he saw that we were going nowhere and with much clag from the 47 gave us a shove up to the groundframe, this gave us enough speed to get into the PAD were we found one of the reasons we had had trouble was that one wagon still had some air and was dragging it's brakes. Oooops. Thanks Grimley, I will have to see what I can do. Cheers Peter.
  10. Hi Dave, I remember you saying that you were going to redo the shed area so as you say you won't have to save the whole layout. I am sure you will manage to move it ok. I managed to get Llanbourne shippped to Oz with only a little damage, and the underside of Llanbourne is far from pretty. Cheers Peter.
  11. No worries Jeff & Doug, glad you had a goodly time 'Murphy' had a great time scrounging food. Cheers Peter.
  12. Hey you should be hear by this time next Monday, how is the packing going? if you have any worries just ask. I am ok for wagons but a mag would be good, the latest Railway Modeller has an article on Aberdeen Kirkhill T&RSMD. If I think of any others I will let you know. Now the pic, what are you doing with a Toton shunter? and where up the yard is the pic taken? looks like it could be near the old PAD. The grand-prix was on during the best part of the day as it had been cloudy all day though not cold. Today was nice, sunny all day and high 20s hotter tomorrow then a few showers later in the week. Cheers Peter.
  13. Thanks Pete, Don't worry the kettle has gone now, it did run well though. I will have to dig out my a blue class 37 for you, watch this space. Cheers Peter.
  14. Hi Dave, Nice to see a bit of sun at Haymarket, looks like a few locos are on shed must be a sunday, that coal liv 26 looks great.B) Glad to hear you would extend the layout and not start again, hope it all goes to plan that would be a great railway room. Will Waverley be easy to move though? Cheers Peter.
  15. Hi Flood, Love the latest pics, I would have to agree with Grimley, the shot of 47642 is great.B) Well done on the RM article I will keep a look out for the mag. It takes a while for them to get to Oz. I wil be interested to see how you go with the Restaurant as I have one, and have been thinging of doing a refurbished one myself. Cheers Peter.
  16. Thanks Richard, here are a few pics from today and yesterdays meeting. Saturdays meeting went well, thanks to everyone who turned up. Llanbourne ran well only one point played up to start with but was easily fixed, 47418 was the only loco that played up but it was before anyone had arrived, I fixed it today just needed the pickups on one wheelset tweaked. Here are a few pics, Dougs A2 ran very well and is seen leaving the station to get turned. 25904 was keeped busy as station piolet ( 08695 had flat batteries and wouldn't start) 25904 is seen arriving on some ECS, 40012 (97407) spent the day sat on shed. 33010 & 33202 sit with 25059 and 40122 on the holding sidings. 33010 & 33202 worked in on a service from Crewe the reason for the double heading isn't known but makes a nice change. Last of all Met Cam 101 is seen heading off down the branch. Cheers Peter.
  17. Yes the signalbox, I did say I would get that done this year. Cheers Peter.
  18. You could always start a thread, 'North West in the 80s.' maybe. Cheers Peter, Oh, enjoy yourself at Ally Pally.
  19. Thanks Dave, Useful pics of the old carriage shed, the rest of the thread was a good read too, nice piccies. Cheers Peter.
  20. Only me, Not much of an update, but more of a reminder to those coming down for a meeting this Saturday. 1.00 onwards chaps. I have actually got the track down and wired up on the loco shed extension, better go and clean some track Llanbourne hasn't been run for a while. Cheers Peter.
  21. Nice pics Alex, I notice 47643 has ploughs, I've not seen a pic of that loco with ploughs before might have to add that to my todo list. Cheers Peter.
  22. Hi Retroman, I know what you mean even Hornby 50s on special aren't cheap. I only have the one but then they weren't common on the North Wales Coast. I knew a few 50 bashers back in the day and between them they had all the 50s plus extras as the both liked 50008 and 50149. I renumbered and weathered a few of them. one of my mates still has a few though has never been interested in building a layout. Your 37207 looks great not to much weathering, though if controller keeps finding it jobs, it might be going back covered in grime. I am sure Eastleigh would like their 33019 back too, I know the western region did like them but they nearly always came back to EH needing a bit of work. The Heymek looks good too, the ploughs suit it.B) I think at this rate you will have all you locos done by the end of the month. stock next. Cheers Peter.
  23. Nice, you should have them done by the end of the week then. thought you would have more 50s and 33s. Cheers Peter.
  24. Hi Retroman, Layout is looking good,B) The weathering on your locos is looking good so far, locos seemed to get quite dirty back in the 80s, 3 done how many more to do? Cheers Peter.
  25. Hi Doug, Glad you found a use for the coaches, at this rate you will need to build a new layout for all your departmental stock. Cheers Peter.
