  1. Thanks Jeff, I think we both know steam isn't going to happen. The few I had I sold, though if I ever win a heap of cash Llanbourne could become Bournemouth West. Cheers Peter.
  2. Hi Gary, Always nice to see an update and pics of Glenuig, it's a lovely layout.B) The PW train looks great, I think the Mermaid is a pain to build, but I have managed to do three and I think they look better the the Flangeway model. Cheers Peter.
  3. Senic update, and a couple of green engines, a friend of mine dropped by yesterday with two of his lastest locos. I am not a big fan of GWR stuff but the little Prairie looks quite good, the 3MT on the other hand is superb, I have always like these little locos. I remember seeing pictures of these locos in my Ivo Peters S&D books and wished someone would do a model, Along with a 7F and 3F, I remember building the Airfix Standard 4 2-6-0 and wishing I could power it up though to be honest I could never get the wheels to turn Maybe one day I will build a small S&D layout. Cheers Peter.
  4. No worries Phil, let us know how you go. Cheers Peter.
  5. Hi sandside, I agree I have never been a fan of front wheel drive either. It would be nice if someone brought a MK2, I had a couple though they weren't quick 1.1 and 1.3. we did have fun in the 1.1 it was quite good for rally driving up the forest. I still see the odd MK1 & MK2 over here in Oz though most MK2s are autos they are nearly all 2.0 ltr. I had an old Triumph Dolomite 1850 which went quite well some days, but I think one of the quickest cars I went in back in the day was an Avenger Tiger it used to beat MK1 RS Mexico's until he wrote it off by using a Morris Marina as a brake. Thanks Claggy, A Kettle on the Coast, that would have been great were you driving or shoveling the coal. Cheers Peter.
  6. Hi Claggy, nice to see you back on here, good vid too, your class 37/4s do sound good. Can't blame you for not playing model trains being as you have been busy with the real thing. Sounds like you have been getting a bit of route knowledge. Cheers Peter.
  7. Hi Arnie, Nice pics, the sector locos bring back a few memories, 37215 spent a bit of time hanging around Eastleigh I have a pic somewhere. 47004 rings a bell too, very nice. I don't blame you for having a class 26 turn up now and then, I bought one myself. Cheers Peter.
  8. Hi Phil, I have used carpet underlay, its like the hanging basket liner. Once I have given it a trim I just use cheap tubes of acrylic paint, one is dark green and one yellow oxide. I put both colours on a peice of card then vary the mix on the senic section some bits I leave the brown colour. Best to add a little paint at a time and buld up the colour if you want. It's easy to add a bit more paint than to try and take it off. Cheers Peter.
  9. Thanks Dave, I have an XR3i which I have also lowered and thinned down the wheels.I converted a white one to a standard Excort as well. I should do some burn out marks somewhere. I never did such silly things when I was younger. I can't get to the 20s at the moment so a 47 and 31 will have to do. the new senic bit is coming together quite well behind the locos, as I have now painted the underlay, the bridge extension still needs to be blended in a bit more. Cheers Peter.
  10. Thanks Alex, No XR2 yet, does anyone make one? I am happy with how the senics are going, I am on a bit of a roll at the moment. I realised I haven't posted any pics with locos in for a couple of pages so I might have to do something about that. What about some 20s Cheers Peter.
  11. Hi all, Llanbourne is my North Wales inspired terminus, set in 1985-7 so plenty of blue diesels. other liverys were about by then but Blue locos are most common. Cheers Peter.
  12. Thanks Pete, I didn't drill out the exhaust I should fit a sports system, it might sound better. Cheers Peter.
  13. Hi Alex, Looking good, the class 60 in my pic was on crew training, they just attached the 60 to a normal service, in this case an Eastleigh- Fawley and return working. Cheers Peter.
  14. Your're not bloody wrong, it has been a while. Seriously though nice to see some progress. Now that you have been insired you may find you get on a roll and really get stuck in. Hope it all goes well. Cheers Peter.
  15. A few progress pics of the senic work, while waiting for paint and plaster to dry I have made up a Parkside Grampus and sorted the wheels and lowered a Golf GTI, looks heaps better. Cheers Peter.
  16. Hi Merfyn & Larry, If it's ok with Larry a copy on Disc would be great if it can be done I am no computer guru. If you have any pics though Merf feel free to post them on here. I found an old Railscene video the other day which I had forgotten about it has some class 25s on the coast and part of a cab ride from Crewe to Holyhead very useful. Larry I am sure your video-8 etc could be copied, it would just be a case of finding someone or someway of doing it. I bet you and Merf have some great footage it would be a shame to lose it. No progress in the garage tonight but I did get a bit done at the weekend, I will get some pics up later in the week. Cheers Peter.
  17. Hi All, Glad you all had a good time, the layout is looking good,B) Nice to see a post from JD hope the rest of the show went well, would love to see pics of Keiths layout. Sorry to hear about the Crompton sound chip Ian hopefully you can get a reblow at no extra charge. I might try and make it over for the 2013 show and try and do Railex as well. Cheers Peter.
  18. Hi Larry, Are the videos still available? I have a' Video Track North Wales Coast 1979- 2000' but most of it covers late 90s with some 70s archive bits thrown in so really not much use. Cheers Peter.
  19. Thanks, I have been out in the garage today and done a bit more, I will put some pics up later. Cheers Peter.
  20. Hi Alex, The metalwork really makes a difference, it looks great. By the time time you have finished the shed you are going to have plenty of locos to weather, you are doing well not to be tempted to get a few done. The class 60 looks good sat in the shed, is it a new release? I remember when the 60s first came out back in 91 I saw my first one when I was working up Eastleigh Yard, it was spotless, I presume yours will be nice and clean. Cheers Peter.
  21. Hi Bro, Here are a few pics from the other day. Not sure if the exhibition is open on the Monday, good luck with your beer hunt. try and get along on the Sunday. Cheers Peter.
  22. [quote name='pitbull1845' timestamp='1306142301' post='4021 Peter, your incident with the screws aound a bit like my dutch 33 that took a dive, hopefully yours didnt receive the damage that mine did... Cheers Scott hi Scott, My screw incident wasn't that bad, just the front bogie so no damage. Cheers Peter.
  23. Thanks Leon, The Bachmann Dutch loco does seen to be hard to get, hopefully Bachmann will bring out another one at some point. The Vi one may come down in price as the others have. 37412 was named 'Driver John Elliot" but It did run for some time without a name and 37413 was " Loch Eli" etc. Cheers Peter.
  24. Hi Dave, Nice to see some pics, 47711 looks great, I do like the large logo liv though never saw it on a 47/7. By the time I went to Scotland they were all in Scotrail liv. I like the new photo spot with the loco coming out of the tunnel. Whats next? Cheers Peter.
