  1. Thanks Alex, The Grampus have come out quite well, I have always liked the wagon, not sure why. You could do a few of your 20s with ploughs, I know they weren't that common on 20s south of the border but during 1992 there were a few class 20s out based at Frodingham for working local steel trips, and most of them had ploughs.I am also sure I saw a few pics of them at Toton. This does mean that my 20s aren't really in their correct condition for the mid 80s but I just had to model them after spending a couple of days in the Barnetby area chasing them around. I do have a 150, and although I wasn't a fan of the real thing, the model looks really good, I still need to back date mine a bit and fix the coupler that joins the thing together, I am trying to make it shorter so the unit is close coupled but I think I may have broken it. ooops Enjoy the 20 pics, I think 20117 would be a good one to do, what a beast. Cheers Peter.
  2. Hi Alex, While I was looking for something else, (large logo 37 pics ) I found this one I took on a visit to Toton, not sure if I have posted it before. I am guessing this is near where your blue Grid was parked up the other day. Cheers Peter.
  3. Hi Arnie, The Peaks look good, I see the class 26 is still hanging around, not someones fave loco at the moment is it. Cheers Peter.
  4. Hi Mark, Always nice to see an update, the senics are looking good, I like the tree on the front part of the layout, is that a Hornby as well? I think the class 26 looks very at home, this could be a slippery slope, you will be buying wagons for it next, may be a class 27 to keep it company. I must admit I was tempted with a 26 & 27. Love to see a pic of the ODAs a couple are on my to do list. Cheers Peter.
  5. Hi Jon, Looking great mate, good to see you have pushed on with this project I think you will find it's all been well worth while. I honestly think you will have the best 4mm Deltic out there. I know you were thinking about the roof grilles but I think that the Bachmann molding is pretty good plus adding an etch that big could be too noticable, if that makes sence. Can't help with the painting tip, do you have a wagon or spare loco body that you could practice with. I find that I have to be in the right mood for painting a loco, even when it comes to weathering. My class 40 was waiting to be weathered for nearly a year before I felt like doing it. Look forwards to seeing what your next loco project is going to be. Cheers Peter.
  6. I see you have given up on the being subtle. Cheers Peter.
  7. Hi Larry, I quite like the livery, but I think it's a bit late for my 86-87 time period. I didn't know that when I bought it. Merfyn put me straight on a few buses, it's something I need to sort out. Cheers Peter.
  8. Hi Doug, Thanks mate, I am happy with how it has turned out, the idea was to add a bit of space so that trains using platform 1 weren't so close to the edge. Cheers Peter.
  9. Hi Brian, The 08 looks superb, look forwards to seeing it weathered, with may be a tail lamp or shunters pole on the frony steps. Cheers Peter.
  10. Thanks Mark & John, The link does seem to prove that it's 37263, and it did have a Stag both sides, I had a look at Brian Danials site which shows a pic of the loco from the other side. While on the subject of Scottish Tractors here is 37261 in 94. No longer a Scottish loco but still with ploughs. Cheers Peter.
  11. Thanks for all your comments guys I really appreciate it, it helps to keep me going. Well done Neil, for reading the whole thread. Yes Keith, houses next, well may be after a few other little projects. I have been tempted with some Pete Harvey etches that arrived last week. Cheers Peter.
  12. Hi all, I have finished the stone wall and have been adding a bit of green stuff, not sure if I have over done it though. I am quite happy with the the buffer stop (thanks Doug) I saw a pic of one that looked like this so thought I would give it a go. Cheers Peter.
  13. Hi Alex, The metalwork does look seriously good, and worth spending the time on. Look forwards to seeing how the outside comes together.B) So how many class 20s is that now? I was thinking if you still have a few old lima locos left you could always have them as dummies and move then about the shed with other locos. Cheers Peter.
  14. Some superb pics on this page so far. Tim at 8f is awsome, Dave I was never a fan of HSTs but that night shot is ace. Love the dutch class 37 too Chris always liked them in that livery. You're right Sandhills not enough peds Yours makes up for it though very nice. Cheers Peter.
  15. Hi Dave, It's your backscenes that really finish of Waverley West, having scenes of the real thing behind your stock is just great. 47644 waiting for the road is superb too.B) Cheers Peter.
  16. Hi John, More great pics, the first class sticker on the front of 37418 is a nice touch.B) I do like your scenary, the tree above 47546 looks great do you make you own? If so how do you do them as I really need to do a few for Llanbourne. Hi Dave, Try and get yourself a copy of Rail Express No 133 June 2007. It has a great article on the push Pull trains. It does have some artwork showing train formations, one of which shows a large logo 47/7 blue grey stock and a Scotrail liv DBSO. More common is a Scotrail Duff and DBSO with a mix of blue grey and Scotrail coaches in between. It looks like the Aberdeen services often had blue grey MK2s in the set. The first 47/7s came out in Scotrail liv from Oct 84 all were done by June 85. Cheers Peter.
  17. Hi Brian, The 350 is looking great, love the cab detail, complete with rattling stove, it brings back memories of sitting in the cab while shunting about Eastleigh yard. I should have been on the front step but the cab was normally warmer. Cheers Peter.
  18. Thanks Lee, I haven't done much this week it's been pretty cold out in the garage, I did finish my Parkside Grampus so thought I would take a pic of the wagons with its friends. 20121 & 20169 have set back into the headshunt on a short rake of Grampus wagons they will be left there until needed for the weekend engineering work. I don't take enough pics of my DMUs so here is one of Chesters 108 arriving on a local service. Cheers Peter.
  19. Hi Dave, I agree with Mark, that class 27 does look good sat in the sun. I am sure you will get back into your modelling groove soon, I think we all go through periods of not doing much. Last time I lost interest I played trains for a bit, the workbench soon fills up with locos needing wheels cleaned or kadees adjusted. Doing little jobs that can be finished in half an hour or so helped me get back into doing a bit more. Cheers Peter.
  20. Thanks Bruv, depot floor is ready for painting, just need to build the shed. Cheers Peter.
  21. Hi Mark, I am happy with the GTi and the new senic bit, I finish the stone wall at the weekend so it will be out with the paints this week. The grass has come up ok and best of all cheap. Yes Bournemouth West would be great, I have always liked the S&D since seing an S&D layout at an exhibition when I was a young bloke, what I think got me in was all the double heading. I became friends with the owner a few years later when I joined the same club the layout had gone but he was happy to lend me books and then at a running session on the clubs layout he let me drive his DJH 7f before the end of the evening I had it double heading with an old Airfix 2p and a rake of Hornby MK1s in maroon and green. I got told off when I stole a 9f from a fright and stuck it on the front of a passenger train. I didn't care as it had done a few laps before anyone noticed. I think if there weren't so many things on the wanted list I would get myself a 7f. Cheers Peter.
  22. Hi Dave, You don't need to worry about too many kettles turning up on Llabourne. I did have a few but as I said I sold them, they spent most of their time in boxes. My North Wales diesel fleet has priority, and finishing the layout. At some point I will go DCC and get a few more sound locos. This costs money which I don't have too much of so will do it over time. It doesn't help that I recently bought a class 27 to go with a class 26 that I bought a few years ago, the plan is to make a small exhibition layout. It will be a small Scottish terminus which I know is not an original idea but its something I have wanted to do for some time. I remember seeing 'Carron Road' back in the late 80s and I have always fancied doing something like it. I might even try and build a bit of track, as it will only have a few points. Anyway thats a while of yet, and I really need to finish Llanbourne, the disused siding was a bit of a last minute thing, the plan was just to have the grass going all the way along the front but once I had painted the plaster it didn't look right with a long strip of grass all the way along. the siding is intended to be the old headshunt for the stabling point or somewhere for a few parcel vans and yes for about a minute I was going to have it usable but hey I have enough track to clean already. Cheers Peter.
  23. Hi Neil, Thanks, glad you like Llanbourne. The tail lamps I use are by Springside models, Nairnshire Model Supplies is where I bought my last lot, part number is DA20-5 BR tail lamps, Nigel also sells the modern square types one as well. Cheers Peter.
  24. Hi Jeff, Looking good, young Doug is a useful chap to have living around the corner. I think you need to move the row of terrace houses so you can fit a few more locos in. Would love to have a look at your new EPBs, any chance you can bring one to Dougs meeting. Cheers Peter.
