  1. I was going to ask what the cause of the derailment was, did the class 40 come off and take the wagons with it? doesn't look like any points involved. I remember some OCAs coming off the track at Southampton down yard due to pushing against loaded BDAs and becoming bufferlocked on the curve going into the siding. Cheers Peter.
  2. Thought that might be the reason, must admit I am not their biggest fan. I got to like them more once I started on the railway and realised they were a pretty good workhorse. I actually drove one once plus came off the road with one too. A nice 7mm Scottish one with ploughs will look nice on your new project. Cheers Peter.
  3. Thanks Merf, Just to bring anyone interested up to speed, I was looking for info on the North Wales Speedlink service and as Merf on his Flickr site for some info. I Just replied on your Flickr page then saw you pic posted here. Very nice too. I would say early 80s but it proves the bricks were transported by this service for at least a few years as the pic I found and now lost was taken in 86. I would say the brick company might not have been pleased to see this slight derailment as it may have damaged some bricks. Thanks Mate Cheers Peter.
  4. Thanks Jamie, I did most of Bashing and taking pictures from 1984 so have always like the Blue period though the triple grey that appeared during the late 80s and 90s along with the Dutch livery NSE Inter city etc didn't stop me taking pics though I wasn't a fan of the NSE when it came out I quite like it now, it certainly suited the class 50s. Even now there still seems to be plenty of interesting liverys and still some old traction on the mainline. I quite enjoyed going up to Eastleigh when I was over last year, but nothing has stopped me modelling good old BR blue. Cheers Peter.
  5. Surprised you only have one class 47 ( no nose) Damian, were they not common at St Blazey. I would have thought they would have worked in on some freight. Cheers Peter.
  6. Yes I think it looks heaps better. Cheers Peter. Peak ;o)
  7. No worries Jamie, I hadn't taken it that you were saying it was bad, there are often a few locos laying about the layout, even when I am not running trains, it looks a bit bare when the layout hasn't any stock parked up. I went to Bescot a few times back in the day, one time we walked down the line of locos taking pictures one siding had about 12 class 20s all lined up. Cheers Peter.
  8. Thanks Cav, The shed will only be big enough for 4 locos so shouldn't dominate the area, it is imagined that the shed was wider and longer in steam days. The stabling point just South of the station always has a few locos parked up aswell. Cheers Peter.
  9. Thanks Jeff, The plan is to scratchbuild the loco shed, it will be a two road version like the one that used to be at Holyhead. The two class 25s that can just be seen in the pic will be hidden in the shed, the class 31 and 20s will be visible. Cheers Peter.
  10. Thanks Guys, The 20s 25s and 31 sat over the back have been sat there for weeks and are beginning to get a bit dusty. I should get on and build a loco shed, but I am doing scenic's on the new bit at the moment. Cheers Peter.
  11. No progress this week as I stuffed my back Wednesday so haven't done anything since. I went out today for a little while and took a few more pics of the FO train. Due to it's late running and lack of time to run round a spare Rat has been borrowed to work the return. A week later and the same train running on time departs for Bangor with more borrowed traction, with a Canton coal beast providing some serious thrash up front. Cheers Peter.
  12. 37412 looks good, it will look right at home with the others. Too many different liveries might look a bit odd though, but I think you have enough triple grey locos to get away with it. Look forwards to seeing that Dutch one finished I always thought that was a great livery. Cheers Peter.
  13. Hi Damian, 50008 does look nice, there are a few 015s on ebay though all were quite expensive. Top looking model though, I remember doing one of the railtours with 008 and 015. What 37s are coming? I had a quick look through the thread and didn't see any Large Logo beasts, I remember seeing a few ex Scottish locos around Cardiff I am sure one may have made it to St Blazey. Cheers Peter.
  14. Hi Phil, Looking good, Have you started the wagons yet? I built their SPA a few years ago they go together quite well. Cheers Peter.
  15. I have decided to stick with Bachmanns 47 for now, as much as I like the look of the Vi class 47 mine didn't run as well as my Bachmann ones. I think with a little work they look pretty good. If I get a 47/7 I would certainly try and redo the jumper cables. Cheers Peter.
  16. The 37 looks good Cav, I am not sure if the ride is wrong on the N gauge model but the 00 Bachmann model had the bogies a bit on the low side so I raised them up by a couple of mm. A bit of work but worth it. Cheers Peter.
  17. Hi Mark, Hope you have a good show, some friends of mine normally go up from my old club so I am sure I will hear how good it was. Cheers Peter.
  18. It's great to see WW back up and running Dave, your latest pics look superb the natural light certainly makes things look all that much more real. Love the 128 too it's a top looking model. Cheers Peter.
  19. Supplying corridor connectors could work the ones on the coaches might look a bit better with more thickness. Cheers Peter.
  20. Thanks Dave, The tanks are old Hornby ones I weathered up years ago. The grass base is painted carpet underlay with woodland scenic's scatter, I haven't used the static grass yet but might give it a go on the new senic bit. Cheers Peter.
  21. Hi Cav, The bridge is looking good, as do the couplers though as you say you could get those MK2s closer even more so if you can cut those buffers back, it looks like they are in the extended position for being coupled to a loco. When coaches are coupled to each other the buffers are pushed back so that the corridor connection touch and not the buffers. Cheers Peter.
  22. While I was out in the garage today I set up a train ( the layout isn't running at the moment) I don't think I have posted any pics of this service before. 31403 has just arrived on the FSO 16:05 1D54 ex Manchester Vic to Bangor service, due to it running late it's being terminated at Llanbourne which is why it has arrived at platform 1. 47561 is also seen shunting fuel tanks for the shed. Cheers Peter.
  23. Thanks Cav, The Whale has been one of the more difficult kits I've built over the years but the next few should be easier now I have built one. Cheers Peter.
  24. The YHA Whale is nearly ready for some paint, Does anyone do transfers these? I was going to tidy up my workbench today but ended up weathering up and sticking the tunnemouth onto the layout. Cheers Peter.
