  1. A long overdue update, but I have finally finished a few things. I also needed to tidy the workbench too which was long overdue, I took a pic before it gets untidy again. First up is my Heljan 128. I removed the two sandboxes that hadn't already broken off and made up a new speedo cable. I also changed the buffers to the cut down ones at one end as this unit ran like this, a crew has been added along with some weathering. Following the 128 are some Lima Parcel vans, I have replaced the Lima bogies with some Mainline and Replica ones with the correct 14mm wheels. I have also weathered up some Bachmann PCA cemment wagons and a couple of older Hornby models to go with the three I already had. I have fitted some Colin Craig brake discs to these and a few other wagons in the past few weeks as well they look quite good. Cheers Peter.
  2. A couple of mine from my trip over in May. 50026 down at Swanage and 50001,011,031 whatever being towed through my old Homestead Sway. Cheers Peter.
  3. Hi Alex, I am sure you will have no problems, and if the pics above are anything to go by it will look great. Cheers Peter.
  4. I haven't posted a pic here for a while. He is 97406. Cheers Peter.
  5. Hi Ian, Rodding looks great, sounds like DEMU was a good show. Cheers Peter.
  6. Hi Ian, Sorry to hear the camping didn't go to plan, it did come down a bit on the Friday and Saturday morning. My brother and I went to Bristol on the Friday and it rained all the way. Coming back slightly hungover Saturday Morning it only started to clear up the other side of Salisbury. The exhibition was pretty good and I am sure once Tidworth is ready for a show we can sort an invite. The best layout was Ivergeachy a 7mm monster with sound and smoke in some of the loco's. I had an hour or so operating Mossbank which was fun. It was a good day at yours and I hope you managed to have a play after we had all gone.I think Tidworth will be a winner on the exhibition circuit. It was good to catch up with the gang and I do plan to be back over in a few years so I will see you then. All the best Peter.
  7. Hi Mudmagnet, I have just been catching up on this, and it looks great. I am sure you will get plenty of invites to exhibitions. All the best Peter.
  8. Some good progress Ian, I haven't been out to my garage yet I am still suffering from jet lag. If your going to be ballasting soon you could use you HSBT from Exford. Cheers Peter.
  9. Nice pics Scott, Did anyone take a pic of Arnie's Peak and class 26, they looked great. No word from Ian regarding a train someone made up in the Exford fiddleyard. ;0) Cheers Peter.
  10. Hi Ian, Thanks for a great day, it was great to meet the Paul's and Nigel and a big thanks to Scott for driving me up and back. All the best Peter.
  11. Looking good Ian, see you tomorrow. Cheers Peter.
  12. Hi Dave, It's the mess really, and sanding it then filling it to make it look smooth, then more sanding. Plus waiting for it to dry. Cheers Peter.
  13. Hi Dave, The latest pics look great, really like 37012.and the shots of the depot certainly have that Haymarket feel. I used the plaster method for my shed floor and hard standing in the goods yard, if I were to do it again I would probably use plasticard and rough it up a bit then paint it. Cheers Peter.
  14. Hi Alan, I try not to think about the things I didn't take pictures of back in the day, DMUs being one of them. I quite like them in model form as you say you have to have a few on any layout set in the 80s. I have a class 150 to do at some point it's in bits at the moment. A least you managed to get a few pics I have a few myself but no where near as many as I should have. I think one 128 was based at Chester for a while but that may have been in 85, they did get about a bit but I would think the coast is pushing for my time period a bit but I just wanted one. It doesn't look too out of place. Cheers Peter.
  15. Hi Alex, the only good thing about them was you could sit up front and see where you were going. Cheers Peter.
  16. Thanks Merf, A bit before my time period but good enough for me. I might pair mine up with a 108 though I don't have an all blue one. Cheers Peter.
  17. Thanks Alex, It's funny, back in the day I didn't take any interest in the old DMUs but now I quite like some of them, and any layout has to have at least a few. I may even power up the Lima class 47 with a Bachmann chassis at some point. Cheers Peter.
  18. Some great pics Ian, The card building really do give an idea of how things will look. thanks for the pic 33030. Just got back from Swanage had the class 50 a few times, what a beast it really thrashed out of Corfe this afternoon. Cheers Peter.
  19. Thanks Rick, looks like you will be arriving when I leave. I didn't know you were heading off this early in the year. Modern stuff doesn't really hold a lot of interest for me though I am hoping to see some vintage traction while I am out and about. All the best mate, will have to catch up when you are back. Cheers Peter.
  20. I might get a class 50 in but want that 33/2 and the 24 and 55. Be nice to see your 33030 on the new layout, 030 was one of the last 33/0s in BR blue. Here are a couple more to whet the appetite a class 73 heading for Marchwood and tha class 56 on the Quidhampton service which by this time went to Didcot and not Eastleigh. You would know the location for the class 37. Cheers Peter.
  21. Hi All, Last post before I leave for the UK. I finished off my Lima class 47570 which is just a renumber of a model that has been stored for a few years since the Bachmann class 47s took over. This loco was 47553 but I have painted the headcode black and added a Stratford Sparrow. I have removed the moter gears so it's now a dummy. My class 128 is now back together, I changed the bufferbeam at one end as 55995 had different buffers at each end, I also filled in the gaps on the chassis. I still need to paint the exhausts but otherwise it's finished. 55995 was allocated to Chester during the 80s though I am not sure it went out on the coast. Cheers Peter.
  22. No worries, that makes sense. I've never seen a LWRT in model form before so look forwards to seeing your efforts. Finished watching the vid now as the wife's is out. Hehehe. Cheers Peter.
  23. Just been catching up on the thread Ian, Sorry I have missed it up until now. You have come a long way in such a short time and it looks great, the wiring is very tidy too which is something I wish was more tidy on Llanbourne. Looking forwards to seeing this develop. Nice to see the Crompton on the slurry tank, the Quidhampton feeder service was normally a class 47 but went over to class 56s later on. 37s and 33s did work the train. Cheers Peter.
  24. Hi Cav, The new plan looks like it should work well, The long welded rail train I think has a steel floor checker plate I think. I got told off for watching the video as it uses our limited download oops. I might finish watching it when no one is home. Cheers Peter.
  25. Superb work on the OBAs James, I notice disc brake insert as well, just been doing a few of mine. Inspirational stuff keep the wagons comming. Still love those TEAs though. Cheers Peter.
