Hi Kev,
This looks great, I remember seeing the 81s with the Motherwell Salmon I have thought about doing an 81 in the past from the old Tri ang model but I like this idea so will be following your progress.
Best of luck, Cheers Peter.
Thanks Mate,
The spotters have been there for a while, I need to put some more people on the platform I have some too do they just need painting.
Cheers Peter.
Thanks Stu,
I have seen a pic of D200 working a Euston service somewhere, it was in it's last year of service and had a different paint job.
Cheers Peter.
Someone at Crewe decided to bring out 'The Irish Mail' headboard for a Euston- Holyhead train today. One reason for this was that D200 has been booked to work some of the Inter-City services and is on shed to work the train forward to Holyhead and a return working later on.
Cheers Peter.
Thanks Rick,
Must admit I don't miss early starts, glad it's going well though.
Best of luck with the layout and getting it back to the UK in one piece.
Cheers Peter.
Thanks Jinty,
I have a few pics of the loco and had haulage on it once. The last time I saw D200 it was working between Cardiff and Crewe. I was at Severn Tunnel Jct and this guy told us D200 had been booked on the train for a few days. It was great to see the loco storming along on a service train.
Cheers Peter.
I remember seeing this layout back in the day, great to see it back again. It's a superb layout and even pre Heljan class 33 days days the loco's looked great. I think at one show there was a 33/2 running, hacked from a lima model.
Looking forward to seeing more pics.
Cheers Peter.
D200 has finally left the workbench. It's been a bit of a pain this one and taken ages to get finished, the roof took two goes to get right then the body would go on properly I thought it was the speaker but a wire was getting in the way. Anyway a few pics of the loco on test.
Cheers Peter.
Well this ones been on the workbench for ages. I did have a break from it for a while then decided to finish it.
The roof weathering didn't go to plan so it took a few days to get right. I started by making it too dirty, but after looking at more pics decided it would look better a bit cleaner. After all it was a railtour loco so has to look fairly clean. The loco was used a fair bit during 1986-7 and not always on railtours so did get quite dirty, the pics of the loco during 86 show that quite often the loco would get a quick clean before an open day or railtour.
I have also added window blinds at one end and engineroom pipework removed from my old Lima D200.
Cheers Peter.
Hi bingley hall,
I will be in Adelaide early April and was hoping to see a few GMs and the 700 class, looks like I might be out of luck. It would have been nice to see a few still working.
Cheers Peter.
Hi George.
Thanks again for letting us know about Andy. I can only agree with what others have said and wish Andy all the best and to get well soon.
Cheers Peter.
Hi Alex,
Well well it seems we are 1 all. As you are partly to blame for me buying a class 58. lol
It's a great looking model, don't forget to paint the chassis red, though looking at the pic of the one you want to do you could almost get away with not doing it, they did get very dirty.
Cheers Peter.
