1. Keep plugging at it!!! Looking forward to seeing these complete!
2. Can anyone be so kind as to pass the update on to me? I haven't received one for some reason, although I am a 'funder' and I should be very interested to know the latest.... do please PM me if you would (anyone who has the info!)) Thanks, Giles
3. I found that wiping off with white spirit works very well, without damaging anything else. (I found this out whilst doing major bath removal work...). It left the silicone intact, but got rid of all tthe mold.
4. I'm very sorry anyone thought they could get this layout for less than that and you've had the grief!!!!!! It stikes me that you are offering a very real bargain! I too have had this kind of difficulty selling layouts (in the end when I sold The End of The Line, I sort of chose the best custodian) Good luck.
5.
well well..... It will be interstin to see how this goes!

6. 5' 9 1/2" over buffer centres 8' across platform centres (overall width) 3' 5" from rail head. According to the G.A.s The inferemce maybe that the kit has an error in scale rather than 4mm - but it would bear further checking. Maths on the width indicates 3.725mm/ft Best of luck! Giles
7. Thank you Richard! Someone produced a series of very good videos - This one shows the steam crane nicely at 16.25
8. In the late sixties, there was a pair of Fowlers working on a farm just by the Lydiate Ash Roundabout (M5) dredging a lake, if I remember correctly. They were there working away for quite a long time. It was a thrill for a young lad to see them as we drove past!
9. I tend to sit the gearmotor in a folded brass 'U', and hold it there with a couple of spots of 5 minute epoxy, which are easily cut out if I need to remove the motor. To be honest, and I know this will make people cringe, but I've always found meshing these gearmotors by eye perfectly satisfactory (with bevel gears). Get some weight into the ends of the tanks, or you will have pick up problems on the leading and trailing axles (all the boiler weight coming over the middle axles.) Technobots sell black bevel gears at 45p each (about 12mm dia, also 2mm bore)
10. Big Thanks to the Warley Team for a very busy show, very well organised from our point of view. At Denton Brook we had the space we needed plus everything ready and waiting, and no fuss. The show was incredibly busy with no let-up at all - which is fine - and we were awarded 'Best Large Scale Layout' which was exceeding kind. Big thanks to Ken and Martin (the team) who operate almost without break, and with constant enthusiasm, and without whom we would not be doing it!
11. Back from a frantic weekend at Warley, where it never stopped for us...... We were kindly awarded Best Large Scale Layout, which was wonderful, presented by Lady McAlpine, who's an amazing lasdy!. It has been a real team effort with Di, my wife, Martin and Ken - without whom we simply don't do shows - so thank you once again! Also big thanks to John C for working hard on Saturday..... join us anytime!
12. Rather hope so..... I have a couple on order to remind me of my youth!

14. Yes you can. It works best with a white background behind it. I have done pub-type windows with it as test pieces (with clear writing). I don't think it works with clear persex etc....., but I have happily etched microscope slips. You can also etch stones....I regularly dtch slate coasters as personalised presents.
15. John - you must - your models are absolutely superb..... much better built than mine! Get back to building!!!!!!
16. Nice! I was wondering if you'd finished it yet (The pace you manage to work!). When I've done cylinders like that I have also previously made a front and back plate as you have done, and then filled the body of it with Milliput, which was then filed back flush when dry. Apart from being quick and easy, it does mean that the wrapper can't 'un-wrap', which is reassuring. Just a thought. Lovely work as always.
17. The NGIR 103 is a cleaned up copy of the original BP G.A.'s It took me quite a time to do! They are also the Vivian, rather than the later locos. I believe the Backwoods Garratt is based on the Vivian.
18. Completed now with driver and other details done. Ready for work at Warley! 2018-11-06_09-10-04 by giles favell, on Flickr 2018-11-06_09-10-28 by giles favell, on Flickr 2018-11-06_12-53-07 by giles favell, on Flickr
19. I've just completed (barring a couple of small details) a fully working self-propelled narrow gauge crane in 7mm. The aim of this was to get a full days exhibition use out of it, so I had to be able to fit a 1000mAh lipo into it, which was tight! Gearmotors and flip-gearmotors provide propulsion, slew and hoists.
20. Crane now works...... there's a couple of small details to add, but it's basically there.
