The 2024 Uckfield Model Railway Exhibition will once again be featuring a selection of some of the best quality layouts around. There will be full trade support as well as Demonstration and Society stands. Licensed Restaurant within the Civic Centre will be open throughout the weekend. There will be bacon/sausage baps for early arrivals to purchase - from 9am.

Once again this year sees the inclusion of Scalefour Southeast, a Scalefour Society regional event. 2. Found the Uckfield 1998 Photo Album - five photographs.

The evident poor quality shows the limitations of the point and shoot compact film camera I had at the time. Didn't go digital until January 2000 when overtime due to the 'millennium bug' funded amongst other things a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S70 3.3 Mega Pixel camera.

If memory serves me correctly it was on the wrong side of £650!

A few last photos of the whole of the Bourne Valley taken in 2010 which I believe was at the Uckfield show and possibly the last time that it was shown in its full length with the new Bourne terminus. Smaller sections were taken to a few more shows before Graham became ill in 2014.

Sorry Ian, but the photographs don't show the layout at Uckfield.

Bourne Valley Railway did appear at Uckfield, but way back in 1998 (17/18th October).

It appeared in a 'U' shape as shown in the the Exhibition Guide.

I have probably got some photographs from the show if you are interested - but as they are pre digital will have to find the album and scan them in.

That's lovely. I shall, all being well, see you at some point over the weekend and have a catch up.

Looking forward to meeting up Rob.

As you can see the train set is up in the garage making sure everything is still working for Railwells after being packed away since ExpoEM last year.

According to the plan we are upstairs in the main hall - hoping its not going to be too hot.

But I agree that a proper East Anglian J67/68/69 is needed. Thankfully AS have hinted that these are pencilled in for batch 2 so hooves crossed they do appear.

For the alternative reality of a SE&CR location, I have pretty much everything with motive power being as envisaged for Lambsdown, a Terrier and a P class. A couple of four wheel Hattons coaches and an assortment of wagons.

I must be getting confused between the GER and the SE&CR!

GER Buckjumper Class S56 (LNER J69) No 52 at Leysdown SE&CR (SR).

  6. Unfortunately the Railwells website, from which Gordon A has copied the above information, is I believe out of date there having been several changes in exhibitors.

For example there has been some layout changes - Rob withdrew Lambsdown from the show back in early June and the space has now been filled by the East Somerset Modeller's bringing along Iain Rice's P4 layout Trerice.

Also I don't think that Terry & Simon Bendall are exhibiting their P4 layout Elcot Road.

The show guide can now be downloaded - Railwells 2024 Guide

Absolutely stunning, but then your work always has been! I remember seeing Midland in Bristol at the Uckfield show back in 2019. It was an absolute work of art, and so is this 👌

After appearing at Railex and then Uckfield in 2019, Midland in Bristol was acquired by the late Don Leeper.

Don's widow, Pauline, kindly donated it to the East Somerset Modellers who I believe are looking to exhibit it sometime in the future.

And on the subject of anticipation, Barry Norman's next layout should be a corker. East Anglian branchline, J15, love it.

    Rob.

I agree - another East Anglian branch line layout originally based on Eye with a Y14 (J15) will be great.
