  1. Thanks Tom. Certainly the trees look wintry, so there is a very good chance it is 2008.
  2. A couple of scans from about 1995. 37412 at Bristol Temple Meads presumably on a Weymouth train. 37158 and 37197 stabled at Exeter St Davids
  3. A couple more scans from me... 73114 in Mainline blue livery passing through Redhill in about 2000/01...don't know the exact date 73205 attached to the Eurostar test train (complete with 83301 (ex 33115)), Clapham Junction, sometime around 1994.
  4. A few taken a couple of years ago at Ipswich. 66413 at the stabling point - 8th December 2011 66589 hides by the fuel point, the same day as above 66566, 66588 and 66589 at the stabling point - 15th February 2012 66588 on the same day
  5. Yes indeed Gatwick Express livery...this was the livery carried by 73202 before being repainted into Southern colours...
  6. 73202 stabled at Three Bridges. Not sure when this was taken, although I have a date of August* 2004 against it, although cannot be certain this is correct. * Looking at those trees, it cannot be August!
  7. A few taken at Salfords, back in 2000. Rescanned pictures to a slightly better quality!
  8. Sadly the light was not great here, on account of a south-north running line and a low winter sun. 66561 heads north towards the site of Hardham Junction (just south of Pulborough) with an Eastleigh - Norwood Junction engineers train (presumably in connection with the London Bridge rebuilding).
  9. I don't know the picture in question, but I suspect it crossed over via a combination of Longhedge, Pouparts and Ludgate GW junctions (ducking under the main Waterloo lines near Latchmere Road, having traversed the South London Line (diverging at Factory Junction).
  10. Okay, so we have the photo threads for lots of loco classes, but nothing for my favourite class - the 73. Not until now, that is, so lets see what pictures we have of the long-lived and fascinating class. I'll get the ball rolling with a picture taken earlier today at the site of Hardham Junction (just south of Pulborough) - 73119 and 73136 top-and-tailing a track recording train
  11. Those RailNScale kits look really good. I have one of their Mercedes cars, but I have not had a chance to build it as yet.
  12. The Ardingly - Hither Green aggregates train heads north through East Croydon behind 66059.
  13. Colas class 70s were out to play at Horsham today. Part of the old yard is currently being rebuilt (I heard they are putting in new carriage sidings, more or less where the old Chipmans sidings were). The loco closest to the camera is 70808...no idea what the far loco is.
  14. Well, believe it or not work is actually being carried out on Friedrichstrasse. Track laying has recommenced The plate-laying committee (minus chief-platelayer) position the second track...making extra sure we have sufficient clearance. Some nice sweeping curves...I'm really looking forward to seeing them completed. As mentioned in an earlier post, a number of our members had a few days in Cologne, visiting the large numberof model shops in the area, as well as the exhibition. A few goodies were obtained, and last Friday night was show-off night. Highlights were the ESU class 155 (with full sound) and this really impressive V220...also sound-fitted. The sound on this is incredible. Oh yes, and when you drive it slow enough around a corner you get the wheel squeal, but this only occurs below a certain speed. Brake suddenly and you get spark flashes around the bogies. I can just hear it at shows...'excuse me mister, your train is on fire'.
  15. That is all I need to know, thanks. I'm not too concerned if the DCC sound functions do not work on DC.
  16. If I have missed this, or my DCC Luddite tendencies blind me from this being an obvious fact, then I apologise. Are the chips in the DCC version planned to be compatible with DC control? I know some DCC models can operate on DC (we had a Roco Ludmilla with sound operating DC at the club last night), but wanted to check it was the case here. As I don't have a DCC layout, the answer will guide me on my decision whether to upgrade my pledge!
  17. Is it simply still a hang-over from the near-miss last season, or something deeper? Surely it cannot be the lack of Suarez, or have the players simply decided that his absence is too much of a hole and cannot/will not step up (although in fairness, Sturridge has been beset by injuries this season)? Admittedly the squad isn't league-winning, but surely there is still too much quality to have been beaten 3-1 by Palace?
  18. Wow, thanks! That is a find. I'll be handing this over to our club's tame architect (well, as tame as one can be without a cage and anchor chains) to see what he can do with this...
  19. Okay, looks like I am backer #81... Don't need a Pendolino, but then again, I don't need the 8 Bullets and 1 Eurostar I cannot fit onto my current layout either. I think this project is really important for the development of N gauge in the UK, and certainly a signal of intent to actually do something to address the lack of modern EMUs. Success here will open opportunities for all sorts of exciting developments in the future.
  20. Totally - well almost totally (if that makes sense!) - unconnected to this, this week sees the club's now biannual jaunt to the Cogne show (I cannot go due to work commitments :-(). Await with interest the goodies that will turn up at the club next week!
  21. Thanks for adding those. Pictures such as there do help with trying to capture the atmosphere.
  22. There are some cracking images and links there...many thanks I may well take you up on the offer for assistance/translations...
  23. The layout pictures are certainly a potential source of inspiration...thanks for posting. Any pictures of this nature, that we can refer to during the layout construction, are most welcome...
  24. Thanks...I will take a look. Please feel free to post any relevant pictures...the layout you mention sounds interesting.
  25. Every piece of information will be helpful to us. Thanks for posting.
