  1. A common use for the class 57 providing support for steam specials. 57313 stands at Victoria on the rear of the Cathedrals Express - 5th December 2013 These two were at the business end.
  2. Not a great picture, still getting to grips with the camera in less than brilliant light. 37518 stands at Euston on Saturday 5th December 2015.
  3. A couple of snaps from the Bognor show today. Thanks to Ian for letting me have a play on the layout!
  4. The sweater I got for Christmas kept picking up static electricity, so I took it back to the shop and exchanged it for another one free of charge...
  5. DR73918 approaches the engineering possession at Stoat's Nest Junction - 30th December 2013

  7. DR73937 passes Pulborough returning to Three Bridges from Barnham - 4th October.
  8. Looking forward to seeing the layout at Bournville next weekend. Looks to be a good show.
  9. When I was a child, my dad tried to force-feed me. After a while, my Mum said, "Just use a spoon, Mike. You're not a Jedi."
  10. I've been trying to buy a train ticket online for over an hour now and I'm getting fed up. It keeps asking me, 'Where do you want to go?' So I click on the icon that says 'Home' and then it makes me start again.
  11. My wife told me to go out and get an 'L' shaped sofa. She wasn't impressed when I came home with one in lowercase...
  12. Take time to familiarise yourself with a new camera... Settings/shutter speeds etc. Another 'watch for those lamp posts' pictures...but sometimes mitigating factors come into play. You are taking the picture from an open door, from a train which is stationary for about 20 seconds, at a station which you will probably never visit again, photographing a class of unit which likely as not be extinct next time you visit the country (assuming you ever do) which is on the other side of the world! Perhaps plan your visit to a larger station a little better - so you are not at the other side of the station when an interestingly liveried unit departs. Oh yes, and a very important lesson. Make sure you replace your memory card after about 10,000 exposures - as they can 'let go'. This happened to me on holiday back in September. Some pictures were recovered, but at a much lower resolution. Pity, this was the only picture I managed to get of this type of unit...
  13. Seeing the empty hat stand and coat hook, I'm probably talking to myself here; but. I don't think any team gets away without some ribbing on here. As far as I see it, most of the comments are aimed at the somewhat chaotic approach Sunderland FC have adopted over the years - comments which I'm pretty sure are shared by many of their their fans! I see no tribalist abuse..its nothing personal... ...Which makes this comment from you absolutely astonishing I'm afraid. My bold - are you honestly having a pop at a couple of comments about your team and then personally attack someone in the same post? By no track record, I am assuming you are referring to him not keeping Leicester City in the Premiership last season...oh wait a minute!
  14. Not brilliant pictures, but here are a couple taken on my phone at London Bridge this lunchtime. This was a ballast train, being unloaded at the new through platform on the upper level. 66144 stands at the country end of the train. 66148 peeps out from between the cranes at London Bridge
  15. I wonder if he'll find the 'Sunderland Way' to play football? In fairness he stumbled upon the 'West Ham Way' by playing the type of football the fans didn't like, prompting them to decide that any other type was clearly 'the way'. That said, in the last few seasons the 'Sunderland Way' has been to play like rubbish, prop up the table for most of the season, fire the manager, replace said manager who shouts at the players a lot, players respond by scraping survival, manager is a hero and in turn responds by buying lots of overpriced has-beens who play like rubbish, prop up the table.....etc etc etc.
  16. Good to meet you over the weekend. Really effective little layout, particularly with the snow effect...which was nice and subtle.
  17. Did you catch the track machine running about 20 minutes ahead of this train? It was transferring from Barnham (presumably following engineers work in that area) back to Three Bridges depot.
  18. 66145 approaches Pulborough with the 668Y (1N04?) 13:54 Eastleigh to Three Bridges working. It was running about 75 minutes late at this point. Rekinding memories of when this was a regular (daily) service; but substitute the 66 for a pair of 73s!
  19. Event Name: Model Trains in the Valley Classification: Open Day Address: Milland Valley Memorial Hall, Iping Road, Milland GU30 7NA Day 1: 25/10/2015 Opening times Day 1: 10:00 - 16:00 Prices: Adults -
  20. More presumptuous postings from Kanjiyama! A DF50 pauses at Kanjiyama with a lunch time Sakuma - Kofu service...back in the days when such a service still existed.
  21. I have put in for a London Midland example; well, if I'm going off piste from Japanese, it had may as well be in keeping with my similar order for the Pendolino! I have also gone for a 456 as well...rude not to really, as I have a soft-spot for these units.
  22. A quiet evening at Uberernst - a DRG Mallet gets a replenish.
  23. Except when playing Pompey in the League Cup...
  24. A decent set of pictures there. I really ought to make my way across to Tonbridge sometime in the future.
