  1. Hi Neil, Its pretty straightforward you need a direct fit 6-pin decoder There are 4 screws to remove the cab, which lifts off, exposing a vertically mounted 6-pin socket. there is a recess built into the coal bunker for the chip once fitted. Nice and easy. I've just sound fitted one, with the chip inside the bunker and speaker and crew in the cab.
  2. We are launching our new weathering brand this weekend at the East Anglian model railway show at Huntingdon Wood Green Animal Shelter. Matt has been busy preparing stock and we have the new branding for the stock.
  3. But as However, we should all know that politics, along with religion and money, is one of those things that can trigger potentially disproportionate reactions, because it is a highly emotive subject. This is why there are rules about discussing politics on the forum.
  4. I suspect if the original post had suggested starting with a clean slate, it would have gone down much better. However, starting with a deeply political scenario is bound to cause irritation - as (Given the way the vote was split) the "Scenario" may be viewed as needling by as many as half the people on the forum - thereby eliciting negative responses. As per the forum rules, its best to keep Politics out of it, however theoretical it may be.

  6. Given the popularity of "Evening Star" this will almost certainly be released in the main range. This will be a very popular model.

  9. Hungarian (MAV) 350 at Praha Hlavni nadrazi (Prague central Station) This was heading up my train to Brno on Monday 12th Feb
  10. I've decided that we will be attending Warley for the first time this year. The paperwork is on my desk for a 24' stand. Deposit ready to go...
  11. Hi, We are always looking for good second hand. We take whole collections including all the bits and bobs, not just rolling stock. We have been told several times that our prices are fair in comparison to others. I'm happy to discuss via PM is that is preferable thanks Gareth
  12. We were advised by Hornby this morning that there is to be a limited re-run of R3555 "Sir William Stanier FRS" this year Release dates have not been given yet.
  13. Its a bore evacuator https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bore_evacuator Stops all the nasty fumes getting back into the turret when the breach is opened after firing.
  14. Legally, I may not discuss pricing with other retailers. I have priced the Anglia 47 at Bachmann's SRP. That is my policy with limited editions. Now my supplier (in this case, my Bachmann Rep) may advise me that I do not have to sell at below SRP because they will all sell out, so why lose money? That is a suggestion from my supplier, not collusion with other retailers. At no point have Bachmann implied that I cannot sell for less than SRP.
  15. I recently fitted a Bachmann 08, with loksound micro and sugarcube. It was plug in, but I did swap the speaker. If you use the ESU supplied sugarcube (part no. 50321) you can mount the speaker with the supplied baffle configured in the double width format. This will fit in the nose of the loco and produces great sound. I also drilled out the exhaust port to help the sound escape a little.
  16. I just completed the survey. I noted that we made it in the top 10 retailers for Customer Service (I answered "No Answer" to that question! ) Thanks very much for the nominations! It's certainly put a smile on my face and I'll let the staff know, who I'm sure will be delighted, as we all always try our best.
  17. Hi, They are available to order, but we are working with the tightest of margins in this exercise, in order to help bring this model to market at an acceptable price. Whilst I can't speak for the other retailers, I can confirm that we are unable to offer any kind of discount from our selling price of £29.95.
  18. Take the body off... (Remove all 4 buffers and it will unclip) The only place I ever oil lima locos is on the motor spindle. it looks like a ball bearing in the centre of the motor. put a drop of light machine oil on that, and on the other side behind the cog. Run it for a few minutes to allow the oil to work its way in. If the gears are dry, I use a little white grease. Other than that, It shouldn't need anything else. Lima motors are pretty robust and don't need a tremendous amount of maintenance. The main thing is keeping the wheels clean!
  19. one of their classics: (And yes, I'm quite happy to laugh at myself - I'm just trying to figure out which one I am closest to... )
  20. I believe the editors are passing rail enthusiasts, end enjoy putting well observed jokes in. There have been a number of articles in the past, including a trainspotter special, with random pics of 47s and 37 in the borders of the magazine. There is usually a little too much detail for them not to be enthusiastic about railways to some degree.
  21. Here's an idea - and this rejuvinated the car market. How about a scrappage scheme? Bring in your old loco, and you get £20 off a new Hornby loco, with the old model recycled, never to enter the second-hand food chain. There would be old runways up and down the country littered with lima 37s and Mainline Royal scots... and no doubt a few pristine wrenn and dublo locos - headed to the landfill in the sky (if that even makes sense)
  22. They tried that last December. Unfortunately far too many representatives of model shops used it as an excuse to moan or resolve ridiculously narrow issues. seriously, if you think people complain on here, it's nothing compared to that event, though bizarrely a lot spent more time complaining about Hatton's than Hornby. ( instead of figuring out ways to attract customers on their own merits) A few of us tried to be constructive and highlight ideas or initiatives that worked before, or may boost business (once the mic was wrested from the hands of the most ardent complainers). But my guess is that they may be put off doing something like this again.
  23. I needed 83 of these, but they got the nose shape wrong, so I won't be buying any.
  24. Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not sure my shoulders are quite that broad
