I used to model russian railways of WW1 and revolutionary period using a couple of Bachmann locos and a Schetmash given a better motor by Red Star. While in St Petersburg I bought a lot of Russian built coaches of the period and many wagons and brakes. I rewheeled them and repainted them. But the Russian Railway Society folded and all this all got put away into a cupboard while I moved to model the GNSR in HO. If anyone is interested in purchasing my Russian stock, get in touch.

I model in British HO. I suspect the French hay was loose, or in sheaves but the UK stuff was in these bales. Now to reproduce them in 3.5mm scale.

How big do you think those are? 4'x2'x2' ?

I'm sure the British army were indeed supplied with hay from French farms but there is documented evidence that both hay and oats were ferried across the channel as well. Photos are also said to show some at least of this in square bales

Which book on WW1 shows hay in bales? Nothing in either of Aves books but I've not looked at narrow gauge in France. Do tell.

Been hoovering them up on eBay for months so have enough now. But thanks. Maybe 1/87 Society forum might be place to find buyers?
