  1. On the subject of bargeboards. My SB was based on the Williton one. Many scalpel blades were used on this exercise.
  2. Hey John, good to be back. Thanks for the info. I think I could take the time uploading the images here and on Bovey Tor. Nothing like the amount of time you've had to spend though.
  3. Hey there Fishplate, That's good to hear. Not sure what to do about the missing pics on here and Bovey Tor? Are we supposed to re upload everything or wait for the servers to refresh? With regards to the move. We've been on the market for a few months and waiting for a buyer. As you know, I can't make offers on properties down there, until I do. So it's just a case of fingers crossed. But I'm sure it'll all work out. BTW, I painted the last backdrop on MDF panels. Using bendy MDF in the corners. As I'm not a big fan of corners in skies. These were all fixed in place to the wall with the gaps plastered. But it was a real struggle to paint the scene whilst reaching over the layout and not something I would want to repeat. So this time round, I'm intending to paint the whole scene on a roll of fine canvas. Then I'll paste that on to a frame around the layout.
  4. I'm in the process of relocating from the big smoke to Minehead, Somerset, as most of you know. And my modelling supplies and tools have all been packed away. So I've been biding my time with the other hobby, oil painting. As the backdrop for my last layout, Bovey Tor worked out quite well. So now working on small studies for the Bovey Quay backdrop. At least I feel like I'm moving things forward anyway. This is a WIP of a scene taken in Minehead.
  5. Toto you've got to let me know, should I stay or should I go If you say the car is fine, I'll be first over the line So you got to let me know, should I stay or should I go The engine's freeze, freeze, freeze, you're unhappy I'm on my knees One track is fine, next I’m at back, so you need to change your tack Well come on and let me know, should I stay or should I go
  6. If Masi had not cheated Lewis out of his 8th title, I wonder what he'd be thinking right now? Should I stay or should I go now?
  7. I can't make it either as my house finally went on the market a few days ago and I have some viewings over the weekend. But hopefully I'll be living in Minehead next year and it should be an easy trip. All the best George
  8. Anyone else had trouble accessing RMweb yesterday? The only way I can access through Google Chrome, is by I constantly purging the history, quit and restart. Very annoying I must say. Rant over.
  9. Looking good Steve. The red soil really places it in the Devonshire landscape. What track are you using on this one?
  10. Many thanks Tim. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
  11. Well I've been waiting all my life to get fed up of hearing that song. But it ain't happened yet.
  12. I see you're pretty handy on the drums there. Can you help me out with this one? I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh lord The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows It's no stranger to you and me
  13. Yep, I've read good things about PVA for water effects. Really not sure what I'll use in the harbour, there are so many products available now. Right now I'm favouring using a two part epoxy, the type used to make novelty table tops. Glass Cast 3 clear epoxy resin. When the time comes I'll do plenty of tests anyway I'm sure.
  14. Not bad for one year is it? I think you should be pretty chuffed with yourself. Sorry couldn't resist.
  15. The job's a good 'un, Mr T.
  16. The jury is still out on that one. It depends on the height of the masts in the end. I don't want to keep fouling them whilst reaching across.
  17. Could be, but it's actually Mevagissey.
  18. Despite all the moving house stuff. I managed to get the 'double drum net winch' to about 90% finished.
  19. My first name is George. Gedward is just a username. Like you, I'm on this ride for the modelling, less so railway operations. For that reason I've chosen to model a small harbour town called Bovey Quay, at low tide. Hoping that there'll be so much modelling to do, I'll never actually finish it.
