  1. Pictures have been posted before but lost in the greatcrash... A real treat to see how these were constructed. Top drawer stuff.
  2. Birds flying high, you know how I feel 2251 in the station, you know how I feel Steam driftin' on by, you know how I feel It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life For me at Little Muddle And I'm feeling, good
  3. I'm really looking forward to my first SWAG. And getting to meet some of you from this parish. I'll be showing the diorama I'm currently working on. As a WIP or finished we hope. Will be showing the methods, techniques and materials used in the making.
  4. Thanks John. That's actually quite funny it is a bit of a head scratcher. 😎
  5. Thanks Ade. Now that the furthermost terrain is pretty much finished, I'll get started on the backscene asap.
  6. That magnificent man In his flying machine With his joystick-up And his joystick-down He enchants all the ladies And shoots all the scenes With his joystick-up And his joystick-down Up, down, flying around Looping the loop and defying the ground
  7. Couldn't resist seeing how this might look with a backscene.
  8. Thanks guys. This was about a year in the making, but we got there eventually. I'm also looking forward to becoming a paid up member of the Exmoor Coast Railway Modellers.
  9. Great news! Contracts exchanged on the sale this afternoon. Packing up my studio / railway room today. See you on the other side.
  10. Such a wonderful sense of depth from this angle. Awesome work, as usual.
  11. Perfect mood you’ve created there. I can smell that battery acid.
  12. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him. But as you say, we all have met him through his wealth of knowledge in his books. My first proper layout was back in 1993. It would not have gotten off the ground if not for his books. As there was no online forums back then. RIP Iain.
  13. It certainly is heartbreaking especially when it was originally my vendor who offered to break the chain because his purchase was empty. But at that time the person was alive. Sad. I was thinking misty moors when I first saw the pic too. Maybe I'll leave it like this and not bother to paint the whole backscene would save so much time and all. Only kidding!
  14. Sterling layout Alex. Looking forward to seeing it up close and personal sometime.
  15. I finally have a completion date of Friday 21st. And we should exchange this week. I'm so ready for a change of location and will update my badge toot sweet. Unfortunately, I'm not able to complete on my purchase though. My vendor's, vendor passed and the property has gone to probate. Which put the dampers on the whole chain. I was given a choice, break the chain or lose everything. But thankfully I have amazing friends in Minehead who insisted I stay with them. Apart from putting everything into storage for a while, it's not really an issue. I think I'm finally nearing the end of the big clear out. It's amazing how much crap we hold on to in the loft, untouched for the last 24 years. I've got two weeks to get it all done. And hopefully a few more sessions on Bodmin before I leave. No idea yet when I'll get into my new railway room. And there's always stuff to do once you move in to a new place. But I'll keep this thread updated.
  16. Spent most of today packing up for the move. But still managed to move this on some.
  17. My first bit of advice would be to get hold of the best reference as possible. But remember, just because it's a prototype, doesn't mean you can't make changes. In fact, because of the immense compression of scope, it's absolutely vital. Secondly, it's well worth paying attention to how colours fade into the distance. Doesn't make any difference whether it's painted or static grass, the same rules apply. Scatter and static grass now come in a huge range of variations of greens. It's important to keep the pale, less vibrant colours to the back of the layout. In order to achieve realism.
  18. Thanks Neil. I've pretty much explained everything in pictures on my thread The Bovey Saga. Take a look there and happy to answer any questions you may have.
  19. A small diorama of Bodmin moor I've been working on.
  20. Probably easier to judge the size from this angle.
