  12. An update from RevolutioN: Class A and Zander cruise into view… from Revolution! Revolution Trains – the company set up to use crowdfunding methods to bring niche models to the British model railway market – has confirmed that it will be offering the much-requested Class A tanker in 2020. This is a logical follow-on to Revolution’s well-received Class B tanker, which was delivered to customers in 2017. Joining it (as it shares the chassis) will be the widely used MTV box wagon conversion; these were also used by the engineers with the fishkind name “Zander.” The Class A tanker was designed in the late 1950s at the same time as the Class B – with which it shares many common parts – but with a longer barrel as in service it carried lighter fuels. Originally painted silver, for much of the 1960s and 70s these wagons ran in the mandated livery of pale grey tank with red solebar to indicate that the contents were highly flammable. It is anticipated that original and revised Esso liveries will be offered along with Mobil and Stavely Chemicals. In later years some were also used on weedkilling trains, bearing Nomix-Chipman colours. In 1975 150 es-Esso tank wagons received box bodies for use on minerals, stone, sand and aggregate traffic. Recoded MTV under TOPS, many were later used by the engineers; recoded ZTV and named Zanders where they were used alongside other departmental wagons such as the Revolution Sturgeon track carriers. Originally a chocolate brown with distinctive “STONE” branding, some were also given the popular grey and yellow “Dutch” colours when in engineering use. As well as the two new items of tooling, Revolution is proposing another run of its Class B tankers in one new livery and the most popular existing versions. 13. An update from RevolutioN: Revolution Cemflo is ready to go! Revolution Trains has opened the order book for its forthcoming Cemflo/PCV cement wagon, produced in association with Accurascale. The models will feature NEM couplers in kinematic sockets and numerous separately fitted parts. We believe they will maintain the high standards set by our award-winning Class B tankers. CAD design work is now complete and tooling will commence once enough orders are received. On offer are pre-TOPS versions in silver with the attractive Blue Circle name boards in four triple packs (A, B, C and D) making a total of 12 differently numbered models available. TOPS versions are also being offered, in silver with no name boards, in three different triple packs. These are more suitable from the mid 1970s on. Each wagon features subtle differences in the colour, style and position of the number. In their original livery the wagons could be seen with steam locomotives and diesels across the network. One of the most celebrated workings of the 1960s was the traffic between Cliffe, in Kent, to Uddingstone, near Glasgow, a turn which often involved pair of Class 33 locomotives reaching as far north as Dconaster – something of a rarity in the days of steam. These models are available to order now for £79.50 for each triple pack. As ever, production will only go ahead if enough orders are received. For more information see www.revolutiontrains.com . 14. Good on you Carol (I wish others didn't fall into that trap), I thought you came across really well.
  15. Saturday 05 Oct 8pm - 9:20pm Channel 5 Radio Times is not showing much preview text yet. SUMMARY The fifth and concluding heat sees three more teams of the UK's most talented railway modellers compete for a place in the semi-finals, with judges Kathy Millat and Steve Flint challenge them to incorporate miniature aerial acrobatics, towering peaks and space travel into their miniature model railway builds.
  16. Some old cine of PN has turned up. Some of it is intentionally poor quality, other bits are down to the onboard camera only writing 2fps to the card (I've checked the camera again this morning and I think it's just poorly). We have discussed having a better crack at it some time in the future.
  17. No, it's a combination of factors including presentation of the brand and service.
  18. The 2018 Bachmann Retailer of the Year Award was recently presented to Trident Trains of Nantwich. The shop, which was first established in 2004, was taken over by current proprietor Richard Spibey in 2008, and under Richard’s ownership it has been transformed from a general modelling store into a one stop shop for railway modellers. Richard has concentrated on trains and now stocks everything the railway modeller could wish for with a comprehensive range of Bachmann products from Branchline, Graham Farish and Scenecraft alongside a wide selection of Woodland Scenics. The award was presented by David Bowker, Bachmann Europe’s Area Sales Representative, and Tony Lowe, Field Sales Manager and after presenting Richard with the award, Tony said: “Customers who visit Trident trains are in for a real treat, Richard’s enthusiasm and passion for the hobby is part of the overall shopping experience. Visiting Trident Trains is a pleasure and I cannot imagine any customer, either beginner or an experienced modeller, to go away empty handed after visiting this store. We often get asked what it takes to be a Bachmann Europe Retailer of the year, and Trident Trains is our current answer – a one stop shop for all your model railway needs.” The Bachmann Retailer of the Year Award was launched in 2001 and has been presented annually thereafter. Trident Trains are open Wednesday to Sunday in The Craft Arcade (Unit 10). Dagfields Craft Centre, Crewe Road, Walgherton, Nantwich, CW5 7LG. They can be contacted on 01270 842400 or via their website at www.tridenttrains.co.uk.
  19. Nope, it's been part of a software update by our IT department bost at the moment.
  20. No, John's question was only an hour ago.
  21. I'll try and take a look at that tomorrow Nick.
  22. I've obviously not been out enough recently but seeing as I am photoing a layout with overheads at the weekend I should be adorned with 'May contain mild peril' warning stickers.
  23. Friday 04 October 8pm - 9:15pm Channel 5 From Radio Times "There’s more than a whiff of hubris in the modelling shed as a captain makes big promises for his team’s layout, only for his smug certainty to be punctured as the heat enters its closing stages. Meanwhile, another captain is dismissive of the wacky Scratch Build Challenge, which is understandable enough, as it’s a mad diversion. But he must pay the price for such arrogance as gimlet-eyed judge Kathy Millatt gives him one of her withering looks. There are no truly gasp-inducing builds from Who’s Counting Rivets, the Titfield Thunderbolts and the Three Millers, whose builds must feature the theme of Uncharted Territory, though elements of each, notably a submerged railway track, raise cheers and much admiration. It’s a friendly contest, with some genial inter-team bartering when supplies run low, and a moving moment when an indomitable team captain reveals a difficult early life. SUMMARY Three more teams of the UK's most talented railway modellers compete for a place in the semi-finals. A combo dubbed Who's Counting Rivets hopes to impress the judges with a layout featuring gadgets galore, pyrotechnics and a multitude of mini-animations. Retired traditionalists the Three Millers plan to re-enact a dramatic railway scene from 1950s Holland, while the Titfield Thunderbolts attempt to stage an action adventure in the jungle involving a plane crash and a volcano. Presented by James Richardson and Tim Shaw."
  24. I did see that you weren't there at the final scenes but only because I was looking out for you. They didn't make anything of it so I'm sure they're quite understanding that needs arise.
