  1. Interestingly the web has the minimum of joining pieces to give maximum flexibility. Not just flexibility by also the smoothness of any curve, looks nice.
  2. My posting was a little tongue in cheek, I must admit. Nice to see your model though. On a serious note, the announcement of the H will spur on some modelling of push pull sets.
  3. I know there was a request to get back to the H model. Has any body mentioned a possible kitbash into the R1 0-6-0T? I have seen a conversion the other way, IIRC it involved some cut and shut work with a replacement chassis.
  4. Question, do you put anything on the cocktail stick?
  5. You cannot beat a lively debate. The thing I would like manufacturers to do is tone down the black. Making it a faded grey to replicate locos in service. Lettering can likewise be faded. A good start for weathering. Not like B*****n and lightly spray with a Matt earth colour and call it weathered.
  6. Regarding the Livery and which era debate. To me the analogy is like dinner cooked by my Mum. She cooked a nice dinner and we ate what was dished up. A lot of children today won't eat this and won't eat that. Does that sound a familiar theme.... It enters a lot of threads on this forum...
  7. I'm pleased it's coming. Central Section workings will now be studied for train formations. The Allhallows branch is another that showed some interesting trains. Good video clips on YouTube. I have a box with ratio coach sides and some cast white metal ends by ERG to make a SECR based push pull set. I need to start it now..,,,.
  8. Am I the only person in the world that likes vehicles that are not free running? I'll try mine later today and report.
  9. My thought is a Matt dark grey or Matt black. On the premis that these are absorbing colours and won't draw your eye. Your choice though.
  10. I think harbour lines have a unique attraction. The South Coast had numerous examples, big and small. The Britain from Above website has lots of inspirational images.
  11. As people have suggested, let's get off the colour debate. I am interested in the parts that were colour coded on the black version when built. i.e. What was red, blue, white and yellow. It's the opportunity to personalise the model. I am looking for decent pictures of locos on the former southern region. Any suggestions / links. Thanks in advance.
  12. I've just checked with Tower and I've the black one on order, wish it was dark grey........
  13. Pantone is for ink printed on white paper.... How did you get on with a match? I'm after a match for the stroudley IEG 'yellow' on Brighton....
  14. I don't want to complain but the 7mm drivers left testicle is too large, it is at least 50% overscale... Seriously, can we let the model appear and then have some constructive criticism......
  15. I think people do not appreciate that the guys in the UK do not do the painting. It is done miles away. Things can get lost in translation. Then it's a balancing act to get it right. I suspect that sometimes the option to take it as it is, can sometimes be the decision taken. I've had a similar experience where the break between 2 colours was not quite in the right place. I knew it was wrong but there was not time to repaint both sides of the loco. No one else noticed....., To manage such a process between here and a foreign land is a challenge indeed. Final point for the red/yellow rod debate. These is a loco at Norwich today with red rods on one side and yellow on the other......,
  16. I'm ready with my paint brush. As long as it's things like the radiator surround, I'm fine. I think I've ordered black anyway. But seeing the green one at Bridgnorth on Saturday tempts me to change the order. The black and yellow stripes look good, which is a key item. As a general comment we are the customer and expect certain things, but we need to be thankful for what is being provided. I wouldn't like to be a producer in todays world, they get my pat on the back. Thanks chaps, keep up the good work.
  17. Seen on a Torrington to Hawill Freight, would this fit the GWR guide?
  18. Nice buildings. I think the house across the line from Lydd Town was the Stationmasters House. Looks similar to yours:
  19. The picture I saw was on the Southern Region, maybe heading for the Kent pits.
  20. I've seen pictures of what I presume to be pit props loaded end downwards in 16 tonners. Is there a standard size for pit props? I have boxes of such timber for modelling traffic in the SE United States and tried loading a Bachmann wagon: How common a load, and was timber for other purposes loaded in such a fashion?
  21. Why don't manufacturers produce all the present liveries for their models. Hornby do a nice Abellio 153. How about a 90 and mk3s? DVT even......
  22. Any thoughts on using a Bachmann 1F chassis?
  23. I now have an E2 added to my box of projects 'to do'. Has anyone thought of the alternate 'better' RTR chassis about? Anything with an 8' + 8' with 4'6" wheels.
  24. Nick, Useful information Thanks
  25. The Rolvenden style layout gives a good opportunity to pose locomotives. I'm glad it's not just me that has a head full of layouts
