  1. There should be a mention of the source earlier in this thread under my name; I'm going out now but will re-post later. Regards, John Isherwood.
  2. Just noticed - double v-hangers and cross-shaft; one or the other will have to go !! Regards, John Isherwood.
  3. Bodes well for potential kit sales, though. I know there has been surprise in some quarters at the enthusiasm with which an accurate and comprehensive range of components for GT3 has been greeted. Regards, John Isherwood.
  4. http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/51162/30-425-Bachmann-Midland-Pullman-Train-Pack Regards, John Isherwood.
  5. Beware of the colour of preserved locomotives - there are some very weird interpretations of BR loco green running nowadays. IMHO, you can't beat http://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/precision-paints/railway-colours/post-1948-colours/colours-for-british-railways-the-nationalised-railway/p100-b-r-pre-1954-locomotive-green-1.html . Regards, John Isherwood.
  6. BL129 at http://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm . Regards, John Isherwood.
  7. Perfect - it'll follow on nicely from GT3 - which I am on the point of commencing ! Regards, John Isherwood.
  8. Ian, Great minds ...... ! I like your model - it's just a shame that Rod Neep got it so wrong around the cabside windows. I'll keep on hoping for the hinted-at Judith Edge kit. Regards, John.
  9. Me too - I just have twelve coaches to line and letter, and then I'll be doing a build blog of GT3. Regards, John Isherwood.

  11. Probably not - to you. However, 46256 indicated that he was working on a problem with another model, 10800, to which I had found a solution. Regards, John Isherwood.
  12. A pair of Black Beetles did it for me. Regards, John Isherwood.
  13. My understanding is that lack of pulling power is not an issue - just the ability of the motor to sustain a load for a reasonable period; (probably due to poor design of the brush-gear). A larger motor should not be required, just a better designed and built one. Regards, John Isherwood.
  14. Firstly, several people seem to be ordering the crank bearing covers separately - the chassis kits from High Level include the crank bearing covers. My transfer set for GT3 is of the normal waterslide type, and does not require separate white backings. Wheels and the detail fittings are available from a number of suppliers - Google will help there - but cab details, beyond the basic fittings included with the Golden Arrow kit, together with a sound project for this unique locomotive, are not available to the best of my knowledge. Regards, John Isherwood, Cambridge Custom Transfers.
  15. Must be my screen calibration - that looks decidedly maroon with straw lettering. The crimson red used for cranes, riding vans etc. surely had white lettering - well, that's what I recall, anyway. Regards, John Isherwood.
  16. Why? This branch of the thread concerns the OP having pre-ordered a Model Rail 4mm. scale USA tank - so the availability of 3.5mm. scale versions is not relevant; (and is well known to all concerned, anyway). Regards, John Isherwood.
  17. Kernow use Sagepay - fact. If you pre-order on-line from Kernow, you'll pay via Sagepay and will incur a currency fee - but there are alternative ways to pre-order from them that won't incur the fee. If you still don't like the way Kernow operate, try and order a USA tank from elsewhere. Oh, you can't - shame! Can we now leave this issue alone? Regards, John Isherwood.
  18. Kernow, like me, are based down here in the Duchy of Cornwall - (the clue's in the name). We're none too sure here which century we are living in - nor do we care much. All this foreign currency transaction fee business seems to smack of government / big business interference in free trade - no such problems in the old smuggling and wrecking days !! But - and here's the important bit - don't get too worked up about it; as you say, it's not vast amounts of money. The USA tank will arrive dre'ckly, and you'll forget all about these minor hassles. On the other hand, you could always switch to modelling USA prototypes - problem gone !! Regards, John Isherwood - (on Padstow 'Obby 'Oss day).
  19. Any chance of a photo with the body in the tipped position ? (Sorry - I'm already gone) !! Regards, John Isherwood.
  20. The crunch question is, though - what is the percentage of modellers modelling pre-Grouping LSWR and pre-Nationalisation SR vis-a-vis BR(SR)? Regards, John Isherwood.
  21. Now THAT I'd like to see !!! Regards, John Isherwood.
  22. If you'd travelled in the preserved / retro-converted GWR steam railmotor; (as I have); I think that you'd hesitate to make that statement. It put on a mighty good performance on the incline up to Liskeard on the Looe branch with a full load, and also on the steep climb from Bodmin Road to Bodmin on the B&WR. I think, rather, that the railmotors were too good at what they did, and could not handle the increased traffic, even with a trailer. Regards, John Isherwood.
  23. Sorry - a bit early for my BR steam / early diesel era. Regards, John Isherwood.
  24. Try http://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/adhesives/super_glues_and_carded_adhesives/everbuild_mitre_fast_superglue_activator_200ml_P27241.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwxce4BRDE2dG4ueLArHMSJADStCqMcofpPj5OGk37_6UekJxp7ajVV2WMbpSMCyhiryy5_BoC0z_w_wcB ; It does much the same thing. Regards, John Isherwood.
  25. It was orange, but much, much thinner. Regards, John Isherwood.
