Scale? Regards, John Isherwood.

A little confusion here, I think; Parkside do not produce a bogie Consett hopper. What they do produce, (or are about to produce), is the BR 13T hopper, for which there was / is a Dave Bradwell etched kit. Regards, John Isherwood.

Modified/Detailed Hornby Suburban Coaches

Not even Mark 1s - B4s? Regards, John Isherwood. -
Thanks for that; I'd forgotten about LNER Class O6; looking at the film again, the tender carries 'NE'. Interesting that it carries an LMS-style smokebox door numberplate, despite being built at Doncaster. Regards, John Isherwood.

At 20.35, a supposedly brand new loco emerges from the works - a Black 5 or 8F, I think. However, it is clearly numbered 3134, and carries LMS lettering on the tender. Explanations, theories, etc. invited; (.... and no, it's not WD / LNER 3134; later 63134 and 90455). Regards, John Isherwood.

Hornby - New tooling - 57' Bow-ended suburban coaches
John Isherwood replied to Andy Y's topic in Hornby
I'm afraid that you credit him with too much naivety ! He makes a very nice living out of being, (or appearing to be), an air-headed boor - he is, in fact, a very shrewd unprincipled money-grabber. Regards, John Isherwood. -
General whinge at suppliers - say what scale things are!
John Isherwood replied to RobjUK's topic in Smaller Suppliers
Unfortunately, by no means confined to retailers or producers. You would not believe the number of orders for transfers that I receive which fail to specify the scale required; (and / or the delivery address)!! This is despite repeated and detailed requests to do so, printed in red and italicised. To err is human, I suppose. That is my interpretation of the article. The white on red version, as applied by Hornby, does shout BR to me, though. Regards, John Isherwood. -

Hardly -a quick waft of Testors Dullcote and the job's done. Believe me - as a transfer producer - a gloss finish is an absolute must if you want good adhesion and invisible carrier film, (if there is any). Regards, John Iserwood. https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm

Hornby - New tooling - 57' Bow-ended suburban coaches
John Isherwood replied to Andy Y's topic in Hornby
Thanks to the assistance of list members, I have now doubled the size of the following sheet from my range, to include all of the BR(WR) running numbers applicable to the forthcoming bow-ended suburban stock from Hornby. Sheet BL171 – BR numbering for ex-GWR coaches; (designed specifically to suit 4mm. scale RTR models). 2mm., 3mm., 3.5mm. & 4mm. scale price is £15.00 S scale price is £30.00 7mm. scale price is £45.00 Gauge 1 price is £60.00 (See https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm ) At this time, information as to which vehicles within each Lot were LH, and which were RH, is not to hand. I will include this information in the instruction sheet if / when it comes to light. As yet, I have been unable to compile a full list of set numbers / formations; (though the Birmingham area sets in 1950 are recorded). If further information comes to light, I will produce a sheet of set end numbers at a later date. I trust that potential purchasers of the new coaches find these transfers useful when expanding their fleets beyond the vehicles supplied ready-numbered by Hornby ! Regards, John Isherwood. -
Hornby - New tooling - 57' Bow-ended suburban coaches
John Isherwood replied to Andy Y's topic in Hornby
I am certain that the info. MUST have been given on one of the eleven pages of this tread - but can I find it? (No). Within the four Lots covered by Hornby's forthcoming models, is it known which individual vehicles were LH, and which were RH? The Lot list in 'GWC 1890-1954' (Harris) doesn't distinguish between LH and RH. Regards, John Isherwood. -
I have three 76XXXs about to be built - one is an Airfix kit which I built and fitted to a Tri-ang chassis years ago; one is an unbuilt Airfix kit; and one is the GBL static model. All three will receive Kemilway chassis that I have acquired via E-bay, plus Markit's wheels, High Level gearboxes and Mitsumi motors. Following these three will be two 82XXXs; one a complete Kemilway kit, and the other a Tri-ang model that I 'scaled' years ago, and which will now receive a Kemilway chassis to the same spec. as the 76XXXs. I certainly enjoy such projects as an alternative to buying another Bachmann product. Regards, John Isherwood.

A model is either prototypically correct, or it isn't. Adapting a prototypical livery and number from a photo, and applying it to a model which has major or minor differences from the prototype, does not produce an accurate model. It really is academic which prototype wagon a model nearly represents - it's still inaccurate. Why not ask Bachmann which photo they used as a basis for the model? Regards, John Isherwood.

They do a very good day-surgery hernia repair there - the hospital, not the Docky Box ! Regards, John Isherwood.

Well, I tried your link and succeeded in placing some flux in the basket; I then registered; but when I pressed Continue or Paypal I simply got an advert for Virtuemart. Looks like I'll have to stay with phosphoric acid ....... Regards, John Isherwood.
