  1. To accompany the I C I etches, I have produced a sheet of transfers for the solebar ICI number plates and numbered owner's plates; the sheet content covers all 36 wagons that match the bodywork features of the Hatton's model. Full details can be found at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm John Isherwood.
  2. This sheet has been revised to include the ICI numbered solebar owner's plates, and the sheet content now covers all 36 wagons that match the bodywork features of the Hatton's model. I have omitted the 'faded' versions of the numbers, as these were less than convincing. John Isherwood, https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm
  3. Thanks to John Talbot, I have now received the remaining 4mm. scale etches for raised I C I lettering on ICI bogie limestone hoppers, as produced RTR by Hattons, and in kit form by others. The stock level at present is in excess of 200 etches, and one etch is required per wagon. Hattons still have stocks of the TOPS-era heavily weathered hoppers without ICI lettering; https://www.hattons.co.uk/ici ; these wagons can easily be backdated using the above etches, and my numbering transfers; (see Sheet BL183 at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm ). The etches are available to purchase at a bargain price of £1.00 per etch, plus just £1.00 P&P for any quantity of etches; the etches will be despatched in a Jiffy-type bag. The etches are sold on a strictly 'first come - first served; when they're gone, they're gone' basis; THERE WILL BE NO MORE! Payment will preferably be via BACS or Paypal; (in the latter case, add 10% of the order plus P&P total to cover the Paypal fee). Written orders with cheques can be accepted, but these orders will be cancelled if all etches are sold prior to receipt. Please include an e-mail address or SAE so that unsuccessful orders can be acknowledged. It is anticipated that these etches will sell out very quickly - please do not delay if you can use them. Regards, John Isherwood, Cambridge Custom Transfers.

  6. I have now taken delivery of the new batch of Mitsumi motors, and have been able to keep the price the same as previously - £8.00 including UK P&P. As I said in my previous posting, these motors do not seem to be as plentiful as they once were, and I was obliged to purchase motors fitted with worms, and remove the worms myself. Anyway, I am now able to fulfil orders for these motors, but I am not confident of their long term availability - buy whilst you can! Regards, John Isherwood, https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm
  7. I have today taken delivery of the above model - and have to say that I am somewhat disappointed. Firstly, the shade of 'Electric Blue' applied to the model is far too dark - very much akin to Rail Blue; and the cab window surrounds are a mid-grey, rather than the correct off-white. From what I have seen of the original release 31-676 E3058, the blue was considerable brighter and matched my recollection of Electric Blue, and the window surrounds where much lighter. Anyone who has the first Electric Blue release, and has ordered the new one, is likely to have issues if they are expecting them to match. Secondly, the mechanism is noisy, to the point where it sounds like an ancient Ferguson tractor in one direction; (the model is not sound fitted)! Whilst I had been looking forward to this new AL5 being released, I'm afraid that it will be going back to the retailer. Disappointing! John Isherwood.
  8. That sounds about right - the OHLW flashes appeared on everything, including brakevans, like a measles epidemic. There was a special one for inside brake vans - "OVERHEAD LIVE WIRES - DO NOT RAISE STOVEPIPE"! I know that, because I had one in my student hall-of-residence room that had (presumably) been evicted from an LMR brakevan. Regards, John Isherwood.
  9. Wherever it is - they're both at the same location. John Isherwood.
  10. No suffix, only prefix on Mk.1s. John Isherwood.
  11. I'm afraid that I have to agree, Tony; what is this recent obsession with irrelevant 'Polls'? The ruination of an interesting thread, I'm afraid. Regards, John Isherwood.
  12. As I have no involvement in John's 7mm. range, contact John directly at john@jaatalbot.plus.com . Regards, John Isherwood.
  13. Would it not have been the case that, with the boiler filled with lead, the springing was negated? I'm afraid that this account only reinforces my firmly held opinion - based on experience - that equalisation and springing are a complete waste of time. I have a part-built Brassmasters Black 5, bought and started when they first came out. The chassis took ages to assemble and is very lightweight and flexible; I foresee soldering the floppy bits solid or, more likely, buying a Comet chassis. John Isherwood.
  14. Please understand that this NOT about me seeking to interfere in John Talbot's intellectual property rights, or in his decisions concerning his former productions. I am merely seeking to distribute, to those who can use them, several thousand castings that were about to be destroyed. PLEASE keep to this subject - indeed, there is little point now in further comment until such time as I am in possession of, and have sorted, the castings. I wanted to let modellers know that the Appleby 4mm. range is not wholly defunct; albeit it will be a case of when they're gone, they're gone. John Isherwood.
  15. Anyone interested in the remaining stocks of this range of innovative transfers is invited to contact John Talbot at john@jaatalbot.plus.com . Regards, John Isherwood.
  16. There have been a number of enquiries about AME transfers, and I have mentioned this to John Talbot. Anyone interested is invited to contact John directly at john@jaatalbot.plus.com . Regards, John Isherwood.
  17. I've no idea, I'm afraid; you'd have to contact him directly. Sorry, John Isherwood.
  18. At the request of a customer, I have just introduced Sheet BL184, which provides 25 sets of transfers for BR 1/120 21T steel mineral open wagons. Full details can be found at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm Regards, John Isherwood.
  19. Thank you for that - full details under Sheet BL184 at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm Regards, John Isherwood.
  20. I use Testors Dullcote - but only after using Klear first. John Isherwood.
  21. I could not recommend any solvent-based varnish Precision directly over any form of transfer. The only truly inert sealant for transfers that I can recommend is Johnsons Klear floor lacquer; see Regards, John Isherwood.
  22. As stated above, I haven't the slightest idea what is included in the "three to four thousand" castings that are coming my way. Rest assured; when I have worked out what I have - which will not be for several months - this list will be the first to know. John Isherwood.
  23. You'll be wanting the UIC ferry buffers too, presumably? Perfect for the BR prototype CCT, GUV, SR Ferry Vans (bogie and 4W); etc.; etc. Regards, John Isherwood.
