  1. It's a shame that the excellent cast whitemetal kit for the LMS 'CHASSIS' container wagon, which used to be produced by Cambrian Kits, is no longer available. I've a feeling that Cambrian's cast tank wagon kit went to David Geen, but I don't recall the 'CHASSIS' being listed in that range. John Isherwood.
  2. I doubt that BMs were ever carried on bogie CONFLATs - though three B-sized containers were tried experimentally on a Gresley coach underframe. The BMs were often unloaded whilst still on the CONFLAT - hence the instruction to LOAD ONLY ON CONFLAT painted on them. The end doors could not be opened if they were loaded three to a wagon. John Isherwood.
  3. Osborn's Models have released their BR BM-type fresh meat container kit in 4mm. scale, in addition to the original in 2mm. scale. This is an excellent kit and can be constructed in moments - the one that I built this morning took five minutes, using superglue as the adhesive. I have just finished painting and lettering two kits - I'm very pleased with them indeed. (Please excuse the photographic highlights)! John Isherwood.
  4. I have just finished the two Osborn's Models 4mm. scale BM containers - I'm very pleased with them. John Isherwood.
  5. Here's a corrected version; (via Corel Photopaint) : - Regards, John Isherwood.
  6. Mine started life in Borland Paradox! (...... because that is what we used at work). John Isherwood.
  7. Osborn's Models have released their BR BM-type fresh meat container kit in 4mm. scale, in addition to the original in 2mm. scale. This is an excellent kit and can be constructed in moments - the one that I built this morning took five minutes, using superglue as the adhesive. I have today produced a new sheet of transfers for these models, which covers all four BR diagrams - it is available in all the usual scales; see Sheet BL185 at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm Regards, John Isherwood.
  8. I'm afraid that Outlook seems to be incapable nowadays of reliably delivering e-mail - especially transfer orders! You will note at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm that I have changed my e-mail address to cctransuk2020@gmail.com in consequence. cctrans@hotmail.com is still operational, but be aware that delivery is not guaranteed. Hopefully, this should reduce / eliminate my need to post 'PAGING Mr. XXXX' messages here. Regards, John Isherwood.

  10. Mike, 5.0 x 2.4 metres; (small garage). Regards, John Isherwood.
  11. Exactly - but the way of the world, nowadays! Shock, horror! I needed to call over a waitress at our local beach cafe today, because my analogue mobile phone - which I didn't have with me anyway - wouldn't have been capable of interacting with their on-line ordering app. Anyway - how do you tip an app? (Actually, that might be the only reason that I might buy a smartphone)! Yours grumpily, John Isherwood.
  12. This project has progressed to a running chassis, that fits snugly into the (now heavily weighted) Tri-ang body. The running, thanks to the Kemilway chassis kit, a High Level Roadrunner + gearbox and a Mitsumi motor, is absolutely silent and very sure-footed. The Tri-ang body lacks any representation of the firebox backhead so, as posted elsewhere, I am looking for the backhead moulding from a Kitmaster / Airfix / Dapol Standard 4MT 2-6-0 kit. If your scrap box has such an item that you are willing to sell, please PM me. I'll try and post some photos soon. John Isherwood.
  13. Does anyone have parts from the above kit in their 'bits' box, please? I just need the firebox backhead moulding - which I would like to fit into a Tri-ang Standard 3MT 2-6-2T that I am upgrading - see If you can help, I'll be happy to pay a reasonable price plus P&P Thank you in anticipation. John Isherwood.
  14. ..... known to those of us who frequent it as 'the naughty step'! John Isherwood.
  15. But there have been postings to the contrary, too. John Isherwood.

  17. Gordon Bennett!! If one of those came down here it'd quite put the locals of their pasties! For those that know about such things - can you visualise one of these in Malcolm Barnecutt's red and white gingham livery? It's only a matter of time - I suspect. John Isherwood.
  18. Really? Glad I live in Cornwall then - the Piskies have the advantage of being invisible! John Isherwood.
  19. Cambridge University wanted the track-bed for their radio telescopes, as it was a dead-straight line at the point in question - that didn't help the case against closure at the Cambridge end! John Isherwood.
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224154759729?ul_noapp=true You'll need deep pockets - too rich for me! John Isherwood.
  21. Make of these what you will; (not my copyright - will remove if requested) :- John Isherwood.
  22. The standard 'font' for BR smokebox numberplates was BR Gill Sans. That said, there were fairly widely used alternative 'curly' 6s and 9s; ..... and some early LMR numberplates were cast in the LMS style with serifs. John Isherwood.
  23. ..... or you could use Sheet BL129 at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm John Isherwood, Cambridge Custom Transfers.
  24. Why is this particular model the subject of so much indecision - it doen't seem to be a problem to others? I agree that the uncertainty as to exactly what will be produced, in what livery, with what markings, somewhat unsettling. I have ordered one, but I feel that I have to keep checking that the product number / spec. hasn't changed (again). John Isherwood.
