  1. Will you not be assembling the chassis onto a floor that can fit within the body? John Isherwood.
  2. Are you saying that Hattons have a Heljan catalogue that lists all the locos that Heljan have ever produced? I have scoured the Hattons website, but I cannot find such a thing; could you post a link, please? Thanks, John Isherwood.
  3. Has Heljan ever released a 4mm. scale Class 27 in green / no yellow panels / no tablet catcher recess? In other words, I need one of the Cricklewood batch that was temporarily re-allocated to Leicester in 1963. If such a thing exists, what was the product code, please? Thanks in anticipation, John Isherwood.
  4. One thing that you are going to learn very quickly is that there were very few 'standard' dimensions to anything when it came to railways - it all depends on which particular prototype item you are talking about, and where it was installed. That is why there is no shortcut to prototype research, and why scale model railways of specific prototypes can take many years to build. John Isherwood.
  5. The Airfix kit scales out at 43ft. in 7mm. scale - food for thought for that smaller branchline. John Isherwood.
  6. The Minehead one is VERY similar to the drawing Tony Cane posted above - but not to the Airfix kit. John Isherwood.
  7. Based on "a GWR style example as per the drawing here"; the Airfix kit is precisely 12" / 305mm. long - I've just measured the unbuilt components of an original Airfix kit. So, the kit is for a 75ft., (or thereabouts), turntable. John Isherwood.
  8. Read it again - North and West; not northwest. John Isherwood.
  9. Lubrication is important - WD40 and 3-in-1 oil are variously mentioned as being suitable. John Isherwood.
  10. We have, in fact, had a substituted driver who didn't answer to the name given in the e-mail - we didn't send him back for a refund, though! John Isherwood.
  11. Should have gone to Asda - they e-mail the name of the driver to you! John Isherwood.
  12. They certainly do - they command a modest premium over the price of new Dapol kits; (and rightly so). Regards, John Isherwood.
  13. It has already been stated that sympathies are with him in whatever situation he finds himself. Those who are close to him could do worse that to ensure that his (potential) customers are kept advised - privately if necessary. You are correct - those concerned "don't know what is up with Jim" - that is the problem from their perspective. Keeping information confidential is praiseworthy, but practical help to relieve him of his responsibilities to others would be more useful at this juncture. John Isherwood.
  14. That's exactly how I receive BACS payments; an independent account with published details for BACS payments, which is electronically emptied immediately payments are made. John Isherwood.
  15. For absolute clarity, the original branding was Airfix, then Dapol - who now use the Kitmaster branding for some products. If buying any ex-Airfix kits it is well worth sourcing, via Ebay, the original Airfix branded versions; the mouldings are MUCH sharper and the plastic is MUCH more rigid than the current Dapol / Kitmaster production. John Isherwood.
  16. The standard for etched smokebox numberplates and shedcodes is bright nickel silver. John Isherwood.
  17. I can vouch for the quality and value of the 247 Developments plates - and the cover the printed plates exactly. The set does include the smokebox numberplate. I don't use etched smokebox numberplates or shed plates - they should have white lettering and I think that the printed plates, or transfer replacements, look more authentic. John Isherwood.
  18. We have relinquished our ASDA slot and reverted to shopping in person. We were getting increasing occurences of 'NOT AVAILABLES' when placing online orders, only to find plenty of the items in question on the shelves when shopping in person. Also, we did not always need the minimum spend of £40.00. Now we've been jabbed, we feel confident enough to make a weekly visit to the store; (social distancing and mask-wearing, etc. of course). John Isherwood.
  19. Remember that you have to get the motor into the boiler when the latter is fixed to the running plate - longitudinal sliding will be limited by the bufferbeams. John Isherwood.
  20. See Sheets BL58 and BL175 at https://www.cctrans.org.uk/products.htm Nothing for PIG IRON I'm afraid. Regards, John Isherwood.
  21. Unless I'm out of the loop - surely that's 18000 ?!? John Isherwood.
  22. Sounds a bit like the guest house claiming a sea view - but only if you stood on a chair and used binoculars! John Isherwood.
