  1. Couple of external links to colas 70 news, (both are mobile sites as im posting from the phone) The first one curiously using one of what i think is ewsjo's photoshops! http://www.railwayage.com/index.php/mechanical/locomotives/colas-rail-orders-10-ge-class-70-powerhauls.html The other has the official GE artist impression picture http://mobile.railwaygazette.com/index.php/news/news/profile/20061 (Say nothing mick!!) EDIT: smart ar$e newbryford!
  2. only a couple of pics today, been working nights all week and being as its been cold during my layover in leicester/burton/bordesley ive been keeping warm in the cab rather than trying to get some night shots (not that you can in bordesley anyway) wcr charter passing my train at saltney, the road between the 66 and 57 is the old bank engine siding for locos used to push trains up the camp hill line, the line to the right of the 66 is the old entrance to saltney depot which is now a short loop with a stabling neck at the end and the train departing for gloucester with a fellow rmwebber driving, the signal gantry behind takes you out of the depot entrance loop, the lead wagon is over the points, and the road nearest the camera with the GPL on is practically all that is left of saltney depot's track!
  3. yes that was rather nice, externally are 350s identical to 450s (bar the pantograph) i.e. windows in the same place etc
  4. Thats not the colas livery in the link its the demonstrator (ex 70099) Trust me the colas livery looks good on it! I think coz its more of an angular livery with no sweeping curves it "fits" the loco better than powerhaul livery
  5. ive put this in my colas thread but as others have said it should fit in here nicely nice use of static grass but the loco needs a bit if weathering!! 08907 in bescot
  6. Yeah i was stood at the relieving point at landor st, the camera is on top of the SPT box The train is only going about 5mph as it had just started from the signal which had just reverted back to red when the loco passed the block joint
  7. Landor st, 01:00 this morning, Schenker steel train heading off towards scunthorpe
  8. couple from last night........... freightliner crane in landor st and back in toton this morning after leaving ratcliffe and running round 60100 this is a shot called "2 skips and a tug"
  9. No probs john, glad you like them, as an idea for those who dont know the area, here is roughly the same area as the morrisons car park pics back in 1987!! The class 40s are sat on what is now dunwoody way and the LL 47 in the distance is near as damn it sat right where the eagle is outside the medical centre! the line closest to the wall is still there within the works area And in this picture the class 40s are pretty much sat on "market street" within the morrisons store!!
  10. Managed to get some pics earlier around crewe which may be of interest.... Starting at the bottom of market st, this is the remains of the drawing office And bridge, which is filled in underneath, it still retains its metal finials I then drove round to the phoenix leisure park which is built on part of the old works site This is looking back along the old trackbed towards the bridge in the pictures above Retaining wall Impressive building ive never noticed before, the front of which is on market st (to the left of the bridge in the first photo) Turning 180 degrees here we are looking back towards the dell, the now infilled trackbed being somewhere around the red car is In the dell, i am stood on the "new" bank looking down about 10ft to the trackbed And out the other side looking from flag lane towards the town, trackbed to the left of the white sign Again turning 180 degrees we are looking back towards flag lane bridge The left portal is the crewe-chester line, the bricked up one has the remaining lines within the works on the other side and the road portal is i believe a new hole for "dunwoody way" The other side of the bridge is what i remember the works as being when i was little, the 1987 open day access went all the way down there past the rows of withdrawn class 40s However these days its morrisons and eagle bridge medical centre which has retained a bit of local heritage outside And futher along to morrisons car park...... Looking back towards eagle bridge, the line that went up and over the chester line was i believe roughly where the landrover is parked on the right Turning 180 degrees we can see the remaining part of the works at the this end, they have basically chopped the buildings back, cladded the end and built a road, you can still see the tracks within the works Hope those are of interest, i can get more if they are
  11. On my way back from toton to crewe in a taxi at the mo, last night of 6 on the same job, back in monday morning at 02:00 next (landor st to ratcliffe then Toton) Gonna get a bit of sleep then take the kids to see santa at the local village hall then all being well i think i'll pop over to alsager for the model railway exhibition
  12. an internet troll registered and put some pretty weird stuff up in various threads, somewhat racist and incoherant! then a member saw his bum over something or other and threw his toys out of the pram in a major way, reported RMWeb to a radio station accusing the site of encouraging dishonesty and cheating in a competition and wrote to warners et al voicing his displeasure saying he does not want his layout associated with anything linked to brm/warners (ie publications, exhibitions etc) shame as the standard of work is superb. still the end of the day we are all only playing with toys
  13. what happened overnight on the site, trolls, dummys thrown big time and a rake of "girls aloud" locos, never a dull moment, anyway off to sleep now, had a long night, 210 late off didcot but 6 early into toton, lost my sleeping time though
  14. another one this evening http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-24915418 unfortunatly for me i'm stuck south of it with my coal train, well i will be when the taxi i'm in from banbury gets me to didcot, absolute chaos this evening over here, to make things worse the alternative route from banbuy into marylebone is heavily distrupted too due to a fatalitly in wembley i was hoping to get my train diverted via greenford and come back via the chilterns but it looks likm just going to have to sit it out!
  15. Well ive just got in from nights so off to sleep, back in later at 1800 though, managed to get 4 hours sleep sat on the loco on the goods in burton on trent so not too bad, couple more hours will do me nicely
  16. if you look in the credits, network rail are acknowledged so heres hoping they use it, a very good film
  17. Only just found this tread, very impressive so far, well done As brian daniels said futher up the yard can be busy depending on what particular flows are happening at the time, last week for example my week on the bescot to westbury ballast went like this (i get relief in hinksey) Day 1: light engine bescot to hinksey and into the yard to collect 10 side tippers for westbury Day 2: rail delivery train from bescot to westbury but not collecting anything in hinksey (so i went past and got relief in radley) Day 3: 20 side tippers from bescot to hinksey, shunted in, light engine to westbury Not on it this week but passing by with the coal later on! Will watch this thread with interest
  18. i'd better get refreshing LBT then! i saw the post on wnxx about the delivery dates but officially i haven't heard a thing about them, i really am surprised that no pics of them have appeared on line from america, must be very well hidden
  19. Long old day again today, chirk to carlisle with the logs, just about to head pass back home, nowt of interest apart from the east coast diversions via carlisle
  20. well im looking at that picture and i can't tell if its a rabbit or a cat or indeed which end is which!!
  21. a few pics from last night, bescot to hinksey, had a while to wait in bescot so got some pics of the sparkly schenker shunter and my train for the evening, 88646 with an OCA and 10 loaded side tippers on the logs tomorrow and sunday then back to the caol on monday!
