  1. Oh no, mick has started talking about yellow paint....... NURSE!!
  2. i wondered how long it would be before a "mobile BBQ" comment would happen! agreed though, you would think it would be something that was thought of in the design process, i'm not bothered as i never use them
  3. thats a bit of a problem for some drivers at the moment, class 70s dont have a hot plate/cooker!!
  4. yes they are finally out and about, i've got to route conduct one next week on the westbury to bescot NDS job as the driver doesn't know part of the route, looking forward to getting on one, even though its just for the ride for now!
  5. yeah no probs, its already my ipad wallpaper!! pm me your email and i'll send you the full res version
  6. that looks spot on martin, unfortunately I've wiped the picture off the memory chip and the computer doesn't tell me what the F settings etc were on the picture but yes the camera was about 5 ft off the ground and pointing skywards as the signal cabinet it was sat on had a sloping top!
  7. i haven't got a clue, i'll check the date stamp thing on the pic when i get a chance, i wondered why it was like that, although its obviously wrong i think it adds something to the picture!
  8. waiting the road at fenny compton last night, camera resting on a signal relay cabinet, 6 second exposure on this one
  9. no nothing yet! had a bit more of a play with the new camera last night, a few pics in oxford, this none is in auto mode these 2 are using the EXR function, seems to be a lot of light glare on them, agin taken freehand whereas this one is night time mode, the sky seems better on this pic and off into leicester where i had a bit of time to try and get a decent pic and i ended up with these two, the camera was just resting on the top of a signal post telephone! there is very little if not no light illuminating the side of the loco and warehouse so this is a 15 second exposure! and zoomed in a bit quite pleased with those 2 pictures, i will be taking a tripod tonight to get some more with any luck EDIT: quickly edited the leicester pic with photoshop on the ipad
  10. bought myself a "new" camera yesterday from cash converters, a fujifilm HS28 EXR, 16MP with 30 x manual optical zoom for the princely sum of £80, the last camera had more than paid for itself as i'd had a number of photographs printed in railway mag, traction, rail express so i'd been on the lookout for something new and this came up at just the right price, again something i could simply throw into my bag that if it got damaged it would be no huge loss, it seems to be a lot quicker camera than the old fujifilm and it most definatly has a lot more functions, none of which i've figured out yet!! tried it out last night with a couple of shots in bescot while i was waiting for my loco to be fuelled, there were taken freehand (no tripod) and i'm quite pleased with the results im particularly pleased with the last one, its clarity on the front of the loco on the original picture is brilliant (the image is obviously compressed for uploading) i then took a shot in toton when i finally arrived there this morning at 05:45, not the best of shots but for a non composed point and shoot picture its not too bad, i may take my tripod and try and get some shots in humberstone rd one night this week, i certainly will when i get a 70 on it!!
  11. hmmm, dont know what to make of this post, hope your not just a troll sent here to wind me up, if i know you then let me know!! as beast points out there is no picking and choosing of jobs, if you have seen some of my other work i dont post about you will see that i get "poo" too but its part of the job, just happens i tend to have a 56, 47 or 66 at the front of my crap job as opposed to a 142, 153, 165 etc (all of which i've driven in my career). it may seem glamorous and exciting but i tend to do the same jobs day in day out, for weeks on end, i practically had 3 weeks of nights doing the same job before last weeks annual leave. the job involves 250 miles worth of van driving and 100 miles of train driving, and i'm on it again from tonight for the rest of the week and no doubt for a few more weeks beyond as it will have a 70 on it after next week, whoops! sorry did i just say that! the plus side to it is as i'm willing to do it, have a good traction and route knowledge and am a mentor i do get to have a few "plumb jobs" now and again, ie 47s on the sinfin, MK3 move to kilmarnock, double headed 56s on the logs etc, collecting the 70s from the docks (if i ever get to do it!) but they aren't run purely to entertain me, its a business and my location/knowledge etc puts me in a good stead to do the job one thing i will say is you are unhappy doing "poo" all day then do something about it, i did and i've never looked back, ok i've had downs as well as ups but one philosophy i have always believed is "never pi$$ people off on your way up, you never know when you may meet them again on your way down!"
  12. there was no froth and gibber about it at all, even on wnxx!! get painting mick, you know you wan't to
  13. cheers, forgotten i've still got this to finish, been sat in the stock box for yet another 12 months!!
  14. hell, we got to 60+ pages of comments with the hachette coach thread!!
  15. I'll still be in eastleigh on the 5th unfortunatly so again it wont be me, unless they delay it for a day for me!
  16. I relieved sainsburys in nantwich of one earlier, i must admit i'm quite tempted to subscribe to this part work, why i dont know, what i'd do with the models i also dont know but it certainly looks a far more 'useful' collection of models compared to the tat given away with hachette model village partwork
  17. Read on another forum that they are visible, there may even be one out and about on tuesday if your lucky
  18. The more i look at the colas 70s the more i think that the solebar would look good in black rather than orange/yellow Ive been looking through my class 70 manual in preperation for next weeks training course, quite a lot to take in , probably make more sense once i actually get on one!!
  19. they must be council workers, 2 to try and repair the digger and 3 to watch!
  20. don't worry i'll get some next week! one thing i have noticed is there 'appears' to be a lot less warning notices than the freightliner one, i'll measure whats on there up so precision decals can add them to their decal pack
  21. i think they will look good with a long rake of yellow falcons
  22. thats what i'm led to believe, i have heard rumours that they will trial one on the logs too
  23. one thing i will say is that i would have thrown the camera crew out of the cab if i'd been the local DSM! so many things wrong with their in cab conduct
