  1. the pics that are showing now are the edited ones which are much improved over the originals so i'm happier with them now also i had to be careful getting pics as the london worksites are far busier and high profile than up at bicester or banbury rd for example where i can spend a bit more time composing pics during down time and be able to set up a tripod away from the tracks, and with all the hoo ha over kings cross over running you have to be careful that 'the media' or 'twitterati' arent lurking on an overbridge for a photo opportunity of a train driver 'doing nothing' while passengers are stranded at finsbury park, all it takes is one pic out of context!!
  2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Garden-Room-Home-Office-Spare-Room-Railway-Carriage-Shed-Shepherds-Hut-/221637397796?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item339a9e4d24 different!!
  3. they are just too dark and the daytime ones are out of focus, i have edited them slightly before posting, for some reason it takes photobucket a while to show the edited pics up so at the time of writing (13:50) i am seeing the unedited pics but in a few hours you should see the pics lightened up etc, whether it improves them is another matter! i think a lot of the problem was i didnt bother with a full size tripod and my pocket one is poor, not designed for bridge cameras so i had to be selective where i put it incase it collapsed
  4. a few from the last few days, quite frankly i've got back and uploaded the pics and am pretty dissapointed by them, come out awful!! first up, kings cross then onto london bridge then last night, hinksey to claydon, too cold to be hanging round getting pics so only a couple from the iphone at banbury and thats it til next year!
  5. Ive had something similar occur earlier this year at eggington jn (between uttoxeter and derby) came round the corner with the early morning sun head on to me and all i could see of the semaphore signal was the red lens, threw the lot in before i realised it was off, thankfully i hadnt gone into emergency so managed to recover without coming to a stop!! The distant was off when i passed it so i first assumed the signaller had put the signal back in front if me for some reason, One of those new pants moments
  6. dont know what will happen, its needed tonight and tomorrow but i should imagine it will go away asap for cleaning/painting i know at chiltern they dont use a unit if its been graffitied until its fully cleaned
  7. its not until i've looked at the pictures in this thread that its dawned on me that 73s dont have any 'proper' lights, only the headcode panel and on later ones the added high intensity type!
  8. they seem to be doing alright, still a pain at times but a good engine, nice and quiet to drive and powerful, will be interesting to compare them to 60s whenever i get on them
  9. oh dear, just got news that 70803 got 'reliveried' last night in hinksey yard, my loco for later unfortunatly
  10. more pics for the "real things looking like models" thread there, the 2nd one down makes the loco look like its made of plastic!! anyway a few from tonight, off the iphone, actually moved around a bit today! this was my view for the first 8 hours, basically moving back and forth while they loaded wagons with spoil then i run round to face country end before heading off to bermondsey before getting relief and heading back to the hotel, relief by another rmweb member as it happens one more day of work before i head home, hinksey to bicester via claydon jn later this evening
  11. i got a good pic on my proper camera showing just how much the line curves and drops away before the tunnel, i'll post it whenever i get home
  12. thats the train im manning at london bridge (6C09) today
  13. the loco is facing north on the up slow (the photo is looking towards kings cross)
  14. the tunnel in the background is copenhagen tunnel and the flyover is so the up slow can cross over the fast lines as south of there the slows are side by side as are the fasts, north of there the fasts are sandwiched by the slow lines from the signal before the tunnel you can take the route indicator to take you onto the north london line at camden town
  15. Had a lie in this morning, working at 16:30 in london bridge, finish at 04:30 then back to my hotel in paddington, just enjoying dinner in the restraunt apart from listening to a domestic going on at the next table! Another lie in tomorrow hopefully before i do a hinksey to claydon jn job tomorrow night then finally home after 4 days (weather dependant!!)
  16. to be honest i dont know what the problem was, all i know is the crane i should have moved was being used when i got there and was still being used when i left!
  17. Just a couple from today, been on the kings cross blockade, supposed to move a crane from holloway to findsbury park but as you all know its all over running so i didnt actually move anywhere in the shift Sat on the north london incline Which is where it stayed until i got off, thankfully the heater was working nicely!! Out if the frying pan tomorrow, over to london bridge for a shift there!!
  18. I didnt realise 56078 was the large logo 'retro' grid, of course now with colas and one of my regulars!! Those wolverton trains, would they have gone over the bletchley branch from oxford?
  19. didnt get anything model railway for christmas but my wife did get me an original painting to hang up in the shed of some SWT units in waterloo, and very nice it is too!
  20. they are a funny little loco, a class that has grown on me over the last few years for some reason obviously out of my geographical area so quite quirky, well i say out of my area, i remember them arriving on the merseyrail network back in the early 90s, seeing them stored in chester and now as i get around a fair bit doing possession work i see more and more of them on my travels!
  21. i was thinking of fencing off the plaform end if i placed it on there but now you mention pen-y-ffordd i think i'll go for the on the ground option, shorten the steps to access the box from the platform, i would have to "board up" the door on the end as you say and add another at the other but that should be easy enough, i could however just set the box away from the platform slightly to give me "pedestrian access" to the bottom floor i've only ever been in pen-y-ffordd box once when i had to borrow a mop, bucket and disinfectant when some dirty article on my bidston bound 153 decided to relieve himself against the cab door rather than walk to the other end of the unit to use the loo, i did however use his jacket to clear up the mess before throwing it and him off at hope
