  1. they are ultraviolet lights to do with the forward facing cameras, they are actually "black" light but show up on certain cameras! i had a look in the SGT coach last night as it was scanning and i wasn't driving) thats an impressive bit of kit and the lasers look great at night scanning the adjacent countryside also the UTU (ultrasonic) coach is quite interesting watching the real time computer generated images of the railhead appear on the monitor as well as other stuff i didnt understand!
  2. some more from this week sunday, 37025 shoving from peterborough derby monday, derby to clapham jn (and on with another driver to hither green) 37254 in derby clapham jn, emergency headlight as we lost the markers for a short while and away to hither green tuesday, a bit of free time in london before work old oak common change ends in acton rugby milton keynes back to rugby and stabled for tonights job before getting the train home pendolino passing through
  3. edit: was asking what the RV14 was but noticed it printed on the side of my model, got confused by the plynth saying something different
  4. todays parcel was this, quite liking it
  5. Well colas may not be doing it any more but at least it's still going by rail
  6. I've just been into the shop and ordered the white one over the counter, no money taken today and they will call me when it's in to see if I still want it before taking payment with the card details I left with them on the paper order form
  7. I think it's simply because they are staying in the liveries they came out of preservation in (the ones with good paint jobs at least)
  8. One from this morning, 37254 in intercity livery in derby We then moved it into the rear of a train which had green 37057 on and on to the RTC, a colourful combination
  9. the normal rake is 8 but the siding can take 9, think i only ever ran a 9 wagon train twice but i have done 2 train in a week once, it should have been 3 but the final (saturday one) was cancelled
  10. 2 from today, peterborough to derby, i took over from nottingham dbso leading 37025 on the other end not 100% sure of tomorrows plan, either old oak common or hither green, will know in the morning!
  11. cant help with jarrow, out of my area! anyway here are some of my pics of the sinfin tanks first trip with colas was actually on the tanks sinfin north 47 on it sinfin branch overgrown run round loop! first 56 i had on it and another and another and another one then i failed with it one morning so ended up with a 37 on it which we replaced with a pair of 50s! crewe down the branch lets double head the 56s this time then we got some new wagons then to go with the wagons, a class 60 on it etches for fuel, im pretty sure thats the last sinfin i did on 26th november last year branch infrastructure a sight never to be seen again the end
  12. nice to find out the news from here! thats one of my regular jobs finished then
  13. filling in the gaps crewe newport hereford gwr livery 166 unit back to crewe and one from today in derby
  14. To be honest I thought it was a royal Scot so yeah a jubilee is more likely as to me they look the same!
  15. Just 3 from today from the phone, the rest are on the camera which I'll upload when I get home (whenever that is!) Crewe to newport and back then derby via stoke and uttoxeter 37175 37421 And back into derby Lots of fotters out today between crewe and shrewsbury as we passed a Dumfries to salop special with a black 5 up front at wem Another busy week coming up again, derby and london mainly!
  16. there used to be a 47 named midland counties railways (47972?) but he dates on the plate were different i think it was 150 year anniversary as opposed to the 175 year date on the 08 anyway some from yesterday started of driving to bicester to drop off my van and into london these pics are again straight out of the camera, not edited etc, didnt have a tripod or much time to grab pics so had to lean on stuff so some are a bit wonky jumbo jet passing overhead 68012 heading north and over to old oak common, never been in the carriage shed bafore, in fact the last time i was there there were class 50s parked round the turntables during a depot visit! warship 08's, one in BR black, the other FGW green i think 57604 (i think) and away we went, changed ends outside the depot recorded down to west ruislip via acton and greenford loop and back into marylebone and away to risborough where we did an ops stop for 5 mins so a good chance to stretch my legs and grab a couple of pics one tidied up picture and off to bicester where i got off and got back in my van and home
  17. Yeah, not a new bit of track for me but I'm sure some spotters loved marking it off in their quail maps! One from tonight so far
  18. Not replied on here for a while Just woke up from a job into Euston yesterday, got to drive a van down south this afternoon, either risborough or (or somewhere like beaconsfield, gerrards cross depending on time) to go into london and over to OOC to brake test a test train then conduct it back into marylebone from Ruislip then get off wherever I leave my van and drive home, gonna be a long day! Work has gone mad this week for reasons I can't put on here but basically my roster has been ripped up and it's winging it day to day to run certain trains, interesting times but also stressful too
  19. 60001 looks to have expired at burton on Trent yesterday (Tuesday) on a tanker train blocking the mainline, everything including passenger trains were having to leave burton Via the goods loop to get past it, one for the red pen brigade! EDIT: rescued after standing for 4 hours by 60002 from Toton https://flic.kr/p/FZZvB7 (not my pic)
  20. Some from yesterday, forgot my proper camera, so just iphone pics, to be honest as I was asked to come in early I also forgot my jacket and jumper so I'm glad it was a mild day! First up I had to collect 37421 from etches park (where I left it in Saturday for tyre turning), turned out it was blocked in by a barrier wagon and the 08 driver wasn't on duty so they very nicely let me drive their 08 as I'm trained on them, I've been eyeing this loco up from over the road at RVEL and today I finally got to have a go! After moving the barrier out of the way it was back into the shed for the 37 Put the 08 away and over to the RTC to attach the 37 to the train we would be taking out The new ROBEL maintainance machine passed us outside derby while we waited for the signal And away we went to Lichfield and changed ends then track recording all the way to Euston PNB and change ends Back to crewe Record back to Lichfield And back to derby And stabled And then home to bed! Old oak common and marylebone tomorrow night
