  1. It definatly has a lighting fuse in the No2 end cabinet that looks very 'alive' to me, if it's OOU I would have thought it would have been labelled as such to avoid confusion I know which mcb's your on about now you mention it, down by the regulating air cock near the floor, I did check those but they didn't appear to be tripped
  2. Nope, a bit of a puzzle, I think the main lighting fuse went but as I was in multi I didn't want to risk shutting the locos down to put the BIS out to change the fuse to maybe find they wouldn't restart incase it was something else, also we were on a tight schedule and the emergency headlight didn't effect our speeds so we just went with it for the rest of the shift We also lost all the internal lights, dashboard, cab lights, interior lights, the lot hence why I thought it was the fuse, heaters, gsmr etc were all fine
  3. Uploaded the pics to photobucket via another computer Starting in crewe LNWR Then away we went towards Stockport, did a left at sandbach and went via middlewich, northwich, altringham, changed ends at Stockport and off to Buxton En route, in dove holes tunnel the lights on 37667 went all flickery and stopped working completly so we had to put an emergency headlight on for the rest of the night when it was leading, luckily it's 75mph with it on so it didn't impact on the run, the only inconvenience it caused was we went out of sync with the trip into Piccadilly which we caught back up with after going back to crewe! All very complicated In crewe And back to Piccadilly Emergency headlight fitted which was actually better than the standard lights! From there we went to chinley, changed ends and back to hazel grove, where we changed again and headed off to Sheffield In Sheffield Certainly getting lighter in the mornings now, this was 03:30 And away to derby where we left the train on the RTC and headed back home for a well deserved sleep!
  4. Just a few from last night before I go to sleep! Unfortunatly my big computer has died after a powercut and power surge last week song can't upload pics from the proper camera until that's returned from repair So just some iPhone pics Crewe LNWR Stockport Buxton We also did crewe (again), Manchester Piccadilly, Sheffield and back to derby via the MML, an eventful night, lost all the lights on one of the locos so had to run with an emergency one fitted As I say I'll upload the pics when I get the computer back
  5. My dad has an lnwr boundry post in his garden from crumps yard in deeside, also a "wrexham mold and connahs quay railway" sleeper chair that I found when we were lifting the track in the old yard in deeside, the stuff we skipped though back in 1995, looking back with hindsight was wrong, GC and LNER weighted point throws amongst other stuff He had other stuff but those are the most interesting If got various paper junk in the garage, should bin it really, only rule books/sectional appendix from the 2000s but I also have the old "Fastline Freight" sign from Chaddesden that I liberated when they went bust oweing me a lot of money, maybe one day it will be worth something!
  6. well done that man! I'll be the first to admit I'd be out of the cab and in the train/engine room if I could see the inevitable about to happen, my motto in life is "I want to die in my sleep, not screaming like all of my passengers"
  7. Back to the bridge today, got another lattice girder set from trident trains to complete the other side, this side however I thought would look quite good braced between the parapets of the higher bridge As before I glued the 2 pieces together But This time I cut the ends off and fitted it between the uprights And on the upper deck I made up the first of 2 wills flexi girder's to fill the gap up there Also today I got 4 Dapol "falcon" wagons, looking good behind my colas 70, may one day have a go at weathering them Finally I got some new couplings to replace the broken ones on the HIA wagons, just waiting on some buffers now, Dapol didn't have any but DCC supplies hold the spares for them so I'm waiting on them calling me back with a price for a dozen
  8. Some from today, road learning again, this time derby shunt moves and another trip up the midland mainline Derby, DRS 66 and railvac We then went into chaddesden And back out to etches park Then down to St Mary's Away to loughborough Back to derby, stopping the in east Mids parkway And into derby and on to the RTC (one for deadmans lane!) Back into the station And away to Bescot to leave the loco for some weekend work 66 on the VQ train home to crewe where a test train came in en route to Manchester That's actually my train for Saturday night but 37693 is being replaced by 37688 for a trip around Manchester and up to Buxton, "great rocks" going home as it were!
  9. couple from yesterday, locos from the bodorgan job from crewe to bescot, no pics at crewe as i was too busy but this is after arrival at bescot we then took 70806 to derby to be used today for road learning to trent jn and leicester same again tomorrow (only as far as loughborough though)
  10. i was a bit p'd off but at least the damage was minimal on them, my colas 70 was pulling it at the time so i would have been gutted if that would have fallen too haven't driven 057 for a while, seem to be on DRS ones more than anything at the moment as tou can see from my on the tracks thread
  11. In response to yesterday's 'flying freightliner incident I have added a retaining wall to the outer edge of the removable section, a bit of a shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted situation but thought I better had! For the bridge bit I've cut a couple of peco lattice girders down and glued them back together to make a longer piece I have attached that to a piece of plasticard glued to the bridge deck as it was too close to the track, adding it pushes the girder out just enough for clearance The opposite side I think I'm going to add the girders between the higher bridge parapets, not exactly prototypical but should look ok Other things I did today were re-glaze the SGT coach I also used he broken NEM pockets off the HIA wagons to replace the old airfix couplings on the blanked off coach, basically removed the existing coupling and securing 'pip' and glued the 'pocket' part of the coupling in its place, I had to trim off the fantail part (the very rear bit was already missing) but once in place and fitted with a straight NEM tension lock coupling they are exactly the right height Last thing was change the roof colour on my model rail genny van from black to grey Now I have a nice matching rake of coaches with correct colour roofs Final thing for that set of coaches is network rail decals and things like ohle flashes
  12. The signaller said it was the first time he'd used it yesterday, certainly the first time I've used it since 2007 too It had to be clipped and scotched just in case but he can't get the road across without dropping the barriers first so they were down for a good 10 mins while they did that and obtained permission for me to exit the worksite into Picop land, luckily it's not a busy road
  13. esterdays return working from gaerwen to crewe, i was booked to relive at bangor but as it was running a bit late off site and i was running early i met it at gaerwen which is where the worksite marker boards were, had about an hour to kill while there so i grabbed some pics from the track and had a play with the zoom on the camera gaerwen box complete with still functional postbox view from the track, obviously under possession so safe to do so a position light to nowhere which used to control the entrance to the old amlwch branch and looking back towards bangor the branch went off into this bracken following the line of the fence you can see, the track is still in situ beyond here and while i was waiting for my train i had a play with the zoom in the sunshine see the bird in the tree then my train arrived and after getting permission to leave off to basford hall where i ran the lead loco round to the rear in readyness for the other 2 locos from todays train to join them later stored/scrap 47 and 90
  14. Nice vid, I did see you (white top on) Running a bit late from the worksite but at least it was light for you, there was a guy videoing on Prestatyn who got the money shot as it were, I went through and as I cleared the platform the other colas tran went the other way with 66848 and 850 on! Look out for those tomorrow too, my job Monday is to take the lot back from crewe to Bescot
  15. Unfortunatly most of the broken buffers snapped vertically at the shank too, basically the buffer head ends have broken off
  16. Got the lights done on 37057, still need to add a bit of fibre optic to the light holes, it's also got a zimo chip fitted which sounds ok at the mo but I've not looked at the instructions to see how to 'drive' it properly And as I put in another thread 4 of my HIA wagons took a tumble from the layout onto the patio earlier resulting in lost buffers and couplings So the next job is to add some sort of retaining wall to the removable section!
  17. 4 of my HIAs took a tumble off the layout into the patio earlier, first derailment I've ever had off the unfinished bridge, I think the weight of the other wagons pushed the leading bogie off and the others followed, one was I damaged but the rest are now in the cripple siding without buffers and couplings, couplings should be simple enough but the buffers could be a problem to replace
  18. some from last night basford hall my locos and one of tonights 66s conwy tubular bridge 70806 at Conwy tubular bridge by jim scott, on Flickr llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogeryllynwyndrobraethllantusiliogogogoch! 70806 in Llanfairpwll....... by jim scott, on Flickr back there tonight to bring the train back to crewe
  19. yep that was me, got a few pics that i'll upload later this morning bringing it back to crewe tonight (sat) as well
  20. and so to the pics from the proper camera, still not happy with it, picture that i would have got really crisp with the old camera look a bit shoddy with the sony, time to look for a "new" fujifilm again i recon, i'm dissapointed with what should have been nice crisp clear night time shots coming out all soft focus and darker than the viewfinder screen shows me once uploaded, anyway here they are, unedited, i will upload some of the better ones to flickr and tidy them up on there (link in my signature below) Lowestoft trip. ipswich Lowestoft i was all set to go home after that job but got a call to see if i could cover another IM job round doncaster which involved picking it up at barnetby, over to immingham, through various lines in donny station, decoy, st caths etc, caught the train from peterborough to donny Barnetby back to Doncaster back to marshgate back to doncaster (via st caths, low ellers and Up decoy yard) and stabled and as an added bonus this was sat in the station, absolutely stunning looking unit close up, a new 800 class and that was that, Bangor tonight with a pair of 70s
  21. and some more from last night, didnt get many as it was a quick turn around as i dont sign any of the route, or indeed ever been over any of it as a passenger i was conducted over the whole lot, the line out to lowestoft wasnt what i was expecting at all, i was expecting to see billiard flat fens, straight stretches of track for miles on end but in reality what i saw (as best you can in the dark at 2am) was an undulating line, lots of curves and an awful lot of crossings! some interesting things pointed out on route such as the remains of halesworth revolving platform, the end of the platform was on a turntable that spun towards the (now closed) road when trains werent running to allow cars through some interesting signals down there too, woodbridge has a series of driver operated crossings that are worked by a plunger and the associated stop signal has a white light built in to it that flashes to proceed, its one of those new flat faced LED signals, first and probably only one i'll ever see peterborough, ready to depart ipswich, changing ends lowestoft, depression bars fitted to the tracks, i stopped short of them but it meant the loco was out of the light at the top end for decent pics, i got a few on my proper camera which i'll upload when i get home we came back via bacon factory curve at ipswich which meant the 37 was leading all the way back to peterborough where i left it this morning all set to go home after a rest but just had a phone call to go to barnetby tonight to relieve another IM train to immingham and back to doncaster via the world!
  22. seems like ages since i did an update, anyway here is a taster, i'll upload a few more after a well deserved day in bed in my hotel
  23. I'm going to miss all of jock's 'likes' in my work thread, always one of the first to click the button Rest in peace fella
  24. Some from last night, did a UTU from derby to crewe with 37116 An unusual visitor in crewe, think it was coming off LNWR after overhaul Pendolino Derby, with another UTU headed off to new st via Lichfield city Freightliner passing through And the other UTU departing Then we headed off to crewe via Lichfield high level and onto the WCML and trundled along at 30mph all the way! Into crewe and changed ends to head back to Lichfield at 30mph again! And then back to crewe, by now in daylight And onto LNWR and stabled And home to bed, long weekend now and having a well deserved rest at the caravan (weather dependent!) next weeks sounds interesting, possibly anglia and a ballast job on Anglesey amongst other things
